I will leave photos of predebut and now 😄

✨Welcome here!✨On behalf Of Shuhua, She's one of the most natural looking kpop idols since pre-debut...I am pretty sure she didn't went under the knife but ofc its K-pop Industry so she might have gotten fillers or even minor procedures (?) before comebacks or later...but for the most part she looks natural. No serious procedure or change, she grew in her features...But then again you'll never know Korea's plastic surgeons are really good at their job and they make it look so natural so I won't be surprised if she said she did it. I highly doubt any plastic surgery from her so I believe she's natural. But pretty girl either way. I can see why she's the visual.💞

Remember when we speculating about something happening to his chin? I don't think much has changed honestly apart from the obvious.

I'm curious too🤔

I think these might not be the best pictures to compare. One's a teaser photo so most certainly edited and it's also a close up which distorts features (it makes the nose look bigger for one). The angle is different as well and so are his facial expressions. Better pictures to compare would be more candid ones taken at the same angle and at similar distances from the camera with matching facial expressions.

Here are some pics that match (more or less):

I hope these are helpful!

I think he got fillers on his nose tbh, before he didnt really had a nose bridge...his nose was kinda flat but now he has a bridge. but his nose shape didnt really change. idk bout the eyes tho..

This might be an unpopular opinion but Tzuyu's natural eyebrow shape suited her WAY more than the one she's had since debut.

maxresdefault.jpg

I don't know what's so bad about these that her stylists felt the need to overly pluck the fck out of them but the short eyebrows are just not it, in my opinion.

YESSSS I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE...SHE LOOKED SO MUCH PRETTIER WITH THOSE EYEBROWS😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

did Jeongyeon get lip fillers? She's looking weird.

I think its editing since they are concept (teaser) photos but she does look different but pretty, most idols do got on diets or take fillers before a comeback... anyways I am happy to see her comeback.❤️

I agree with everything apart from the buccal fat removal, Lorry put that down to weight loss, however the change is too big considering she hadn't lost a huge amount of weight and the change was over one era, so I think she has had a buccal fat removal

I also think she gets cheek fillers, which has been mentioned before on this thread

I agree with you, her weight mostly never changed since debut she was always skinny and her face was kinda chubby but now its really slimmer than rookie days also her cheeks really came out...

Hi guys! Very interesting thread to read! Keep up the good work!

I am curious about how do idols change their skin tone. I was watching some pre-debut photos and i swear some of them changed unnaturally much their skin color(Taeyeon being the first one that comes to my mind but i think most of them did something to their skin). Like what procedures do they use? Are they dangerous?

hey there!

You can call it Chemical Whitening/Lightening Cream/ ect... But at the end of the day it is pure Skin Bleaching, which have been in India, Asia, Africa, Latin America, and North America for decades.

In all of these countries I listed having lighter skin meant wealth and higher beauty. This meant if you were fair or very light you were from a high class family and not from the farm lands (India/Korea/Japan/Europe ect.).

BB Cream

So first and foremost BB Cream originally came from Germany, not South Korea. Many people think that it came from South Korea, however BB Cream manufacturers in South Korea had a very strong advertising backing, KPop. When BB Cream hit the market in South Korea it quickly became the "it" makeup to have because not only did it make skin healthier, correct imperfections, and shield skin from sun rays, it lightened the skin on their faces in a more healthier manner. I remember one of my Korean friends telling me that before BB Cream many Koreans used to use the Bleaching creams on their faces and it would cause major health issues and damage.

So due to the rave of BB Cream it quickly started spreading, a long with knock off versions which had ACTUAL STRAIGHT bleach in them (look it it's horrible, these cases were mainly in South East Asian countries and China).

Soon it was in high demand for people in North America. The Korean brands started exporting it to America and Canada at a high rate and very high prices. At this time they only had the creams in light shades only. So many women with darker tones would mix it with their own foundation. Skipping to now, so these brands wised up and noticed they were missing a huge market and began promoting BB Creams in slightly darker shades and took out the bleaching agents in some.

KPop: Skin Whitening

As I stated above having light/white skin is all the rave in South Korea, and has been for decades even before KPop came along. Many (almost all) Kpop stars and Korean actors/actresses go through various skin bleaching (creams/pills/skin peelings), dieting, and surgeries before debuting. As others said on here they avoid the sun at all costs and it's pretty funny to watch.
However, as of recent some Koreans are actually starting to embrace their dark skin, yes there are Koreans with dark skin. Some are even tanning (or spray tanning).

There are also INJECTIONS like glutathione skin whitening.

To sum up, there are a lot of things that affect how the skin tone looks but the camera’s flash, the lights (especially during shows and concerts) and the affects applied when idols have pictures taken, are recorded, or are on TV are some of the biggest things that affect how they look.

WHITE-WASHING PHOTOS

Whitewashing in beauty is a phenomenon in the intersection of the fashion industry, digital photography, mass media, marketing and advertising. It describes a situation in which the skin tone of non-white people – when depicted in magazine covers, advertisements, commercials, music videos, etc. – is, digitally retouched or physically modified to appear whiter.

This was a really interesting and in-depth post! I definitely knew that there was skin-whitening in K-pop, but I didn't know there were so many ways of doing that.

I actually engaged in a similar discussion before, but from a different point of view – I actually said that I doubt THAT many idols go for skin-whitening procedures. It definitely happens (and it's very obvious in cases of people with straight up white skin, like IU), but it's not that difficult to jump a couple of shades with proper skincare.

I'll paste my comment below! You can find the full comment here.

  Reveal hidden contents

I do agree that idols definitely use some skincare or have some treatments with skin-lightening properties, but the percentage that goes for full-on skin lightening is low, and bleaching would be even lower.

1) In school, I had tanned skin because I was swimming every week and attending PE lessons outdoors. After avoiding the sun and walking at sheltered areas whenever possible, my skin lightened. In fact, the skin on my face lightened the most, because I was regularly putting cleanser, scrubs, exfoliants and sunscreen on it. I didn't take care of the rest of my body as much and my arms and legs are significantly darker than my face lol.

I wasn't super stringent on skincare, but just by taking care of my face for a couple of months, it jumped by a few shades. Going by this photo, I went from like a G50 to G20. With idols so committed to skincare and bodycare and having multiple products, I don't think it's that hard to believe their skin would be much lighter with regular upkeep.

(That worked because I had lighter skin to begin with, but of course there's a limit to how much lighter one can go, especially if they had darker skin to begin with.)

2) Stage lighting + fansites whitewashing the features off + flash definitely adds to the appearance of lighter skin on idols.

There was this post I read years back, about idols who actually had to wear darker foundation while on stage, because the stage lighting completely washed everything out. You could distinctly see the darker line on their neck. (And of course, there are more tanned idols who use lighter foundation on their face only, so you see the line still.)

I can't find the article anymore, but here's one of actress Goo Hyesun talking about how she has to wear darker make-up for TV appearances.

Your best bet for an idol's accurate skintone would be looking at photos of them in real life, usually taken by fans with their phones. (Even those aren't 100% accurate – I feel like my skintone looks different in every single photo I see of myself lol.)

Of course, I don't doubt that idols DO go through skin lightening procedures. I just think there are a whole bunch of factors involved in that, and going a couple shades lighter is really not that difficult with the help of skincare, make-up, lighting, etc.

Thank you so much ❤️ I tried my best. Really liked your post too.

Do you guys really think Aisha from Everglow is 174 cm? She looks huge but I have seen 174 cm official height male idols looking smaller. Is it because of face/build(a lot of male idols do have neotenised face) or they are actually shorter?

when aisha stood beside a 5'11-6'0ft fan and looked about the same height, despite the fact aisha claims shes only 5'8". tall female idols make themselves shorter, sowon still claims to be 173 cm even tho she looks way taller.

https://imgur.com/mih3SKUthe perspective is thrown off by the fact that aisha is stepping forward + aisha'a shoes having a bit of heel.

https://imgur.com/FM4jTdP  op mentioning their height.

I would put aisha at 5'10".

I SWEAR women appear taller than men when they are both the same height 😭😭😭😭

I think Jaemin’s done his nose and he also may have had his double eyelid creases deepened. Recently, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s experimenting with fillers. His face looks a little fuller than usual.

I thought i was the only one who thought his face looked fuller.. I even asked here: https://onehallyu.com/topic/23196-official-plastic-surgery-thread/?do=findComment&comment=31131066

anyways thanks for answering♡
