damn, this video rlly showed how much dawn and hyuna have changed 😬😩 i didn't even know the first guy was edawn 💀

The change you're seeing in Dawn is mostly styling imho - if you look at his actual features they haven't changed. particularly the eye makeup, in the first pic he's wearing darker shadow, whereas now he wears a lot of light colours around his eyes to give that funky alternative look he likes so much. Also lenses make a massive difference as well. For physical changes the most i can see is a slight widening in his jaw which is consistent with natural aging and maturing. There might be something with his eyes, but you can't really judge based on these photos bc of the difference in styling

has anyone seen this documentary ? it talks about the current plastic surgery situation in china and it's really kind of insane.. young people injecting hyaluronic acid into their ears to make them appear bigger because it's trendy, a popular app that analyzes your face and what you can get done to it to be more "beautiful" and connects you to local clinics,  popular plastic surgery influencers that get dangerous and new procedures done for free so they can review them to the public.... a popular blogger even had an "high cranial top" surgery where fillers got injected into their scalp to add volume... i'm at a loss. it's like watching an horror movie

god this is so sad, especially the comments from the young guy about how he'll endure any amount of pain to be more handsome - what will happen when he starts aging? when he has kids and they get older and don't recognise their own features? i know we keke about cosmetic procedures on here, but as someone who doesn't relate to their own facial features bc of adoption, i really feel for the kids of ps addicts, bc i know exactly how it feels to be raised by people who don't share your face. 100% of the blame lies in the unregulated industry and the image focused culture imo, the people caught up in it are just a symptom of a wider problem.

regarding wonyoung - i looked up a fancam cos i'm not too familiar with her and holy shit. she's dangerously thin, especially when considering the camera distorts our view of someone's body to make them look bigger, and compared to her other members, her thighs are so so tiny it's genuinely triggering for my ED lmao. I agree that she likely has a naturally wider waist and in her attempts to slim her waist down she's gone down a really dark path. there's naturally skinny, and then there's frail and unhealthy looking, and she's definitely on the frail side of skinny

She’s supposedly 173 cm tall and weighs 47 kg, which isn’t true, as she herself even said that she’s taller than 173 cm, she’s around 176-178 cm. For a while, her weight was said to be 41 kg so I’d assume she weighs 39-42 kg rn.

If her official height and weight were right, she’d have a bmi of 15.70, which is already severely underweight and can cause health problems, but her estimated height would give her a bmi of 12.62 - 13.56.
Here’s a kind of recent picture, where you can see how skinny she really is.

holy lord that pic needs a trigger warning

personal ed related chat under a spoiler bc im terrified of being clowned by yall 🤧

Spoiler

I feel like for me personally my way of determining whether someone is very underweight is usually if looking at their arms makes me want to skip a meal - i cant stan bp bc all their arms are so tiny, whereas twice i'm totally fine with bc they all (for the most part) dont have super skinny arms. this pic makes me not want to eat for a week istg, i'm very glad im in a healthier place now but my god that's triggering

For all my fellow recovering ED darlings, i'm so proud of you for sharing your struggle with us and acknowledging the problem, you're taking important steps in your healing journey! I personally found a lot of peace in the body neutrality movement, where you try to focus less on the way your body looks, and more on what it can do for you - my arms may be a bit flabby, but they allow me to hug my loved ones and hold my cat, and my legs may be a bit wide and a bit jiggly, but they carry me everywhere i go, and they allow me to see so many beautiful places and experience so many wonderful things. it's hard to fight back the intrusive thoughts and replace them with more positive ones, it takes work and concentrated effort, but it's attainable and you can do it.

I believe in you, i'm proud of you, and you are worth more than just the way your body looks

When people pretend like we are body shaming these idols, it’s cringe.

Yes! Most of us who have been talking about it are coming from a place of dealing with EDs ourselves, so how can us pointing out things we recognise as warning signs in any way body shaming? We're not saying she should just eat a sandwich, or calling her nasty names, we're expressing how the way she currently looks is triggering and expressing empathy for her struggle with food and sharing wishes for her to recover.

A while ago people on here were theorizing that she's had some kind of surgery to make her waist smaller, I'm starting to think it might actually just be intense dieting

Did you forget the images? There's nothing in the spoiler

I discovered about Yoongi's jaw surgery yesterday and I was puzzled, I really didn't notice it until now. He smoothed and rounded out his jawline so much that it almost doesn't have that angle anymore. (photos taken from seokii post in 2018)

h1z6JxS.jpg opzHTec.jpg

Are rounded up jawline like that a standard ? I doubt so since Jungkook for example has a strong squared jawline. Or was it made to fit Yoongi's chubbier and more androgynous face ? Beside that, I wonder if had any other job done. His eyes and nose seem untouched.

I also came across a post saying that the BTS were getting unhealthier, aging badly, probably smoking, drinking and having eating disorders. While it was definitely an anti post, I found himself to agree with it in some ways. In some of their last content I thought they looked kinda tired and done.

am i going insane bc i dont see a difference in the jawline? not saying he's never had anything done, but these two pics aren't the best for comparison imho bc of the difference in facial expression. jawlines look different when the mouth is open and the head is tilted down, no?

i used to be so anxious about underarm hair, i'd shave every day and would freak out on holidays and stuff if i wasn't able to have perfectly smooth armpits. it took letting my armpit hair grow for me to realise it's just hair, it's not ugly or unnatural, it's the most normal thing in the world. it's so important to realise that idols are heavily edited and they go through a lot of procedures like laser hair removal to present a perfected image to us that isn't realistic to how anyone looks irl. I shave occasionally in the summer if i want to have that smooth feeling, but i think the most important thing is that i do it for me, not for how others perceive me. I'm also 30 tho, so there's a lot less social pressure to fit in and i'm allowed a lot more freedom of expression than i had when i was a teen.

I think she does have a big breast compared to other K-pop girlies, but also they choose horrible bras for her, I would be having backache daily if I were her. Maybe that's just how bras are like at Korea? I have no idea though

As someone with a small back and large chest, it's REALLY hard to find a properly fitting bra in regular lingerie stores, there's only a couple of shops that i know i can find my size, and even then the style options are really limited. and I'm only a 10E! When you're a somewhat odd size like that a lot of salespeople will suggest you go up a band size and down a cup size, which just leads to a poor fit, but they're motivated to make a sale despite the fact they don't have your size, which is bull imo. i think it's likely she's naturally large and just not wearing properly fitted bras - her breasts sit quite low on her chest, and a lot of her fullness is focused at the base of the breast, which is the opposite of what you see with implants, especially in someone so young. the problem is likely in the band size, my chest looked the same when my band was too large, and it puts all the weight on the shoulder straps and causes that almost shelf-like shape.

yes they can be removed and replaced! i'm not super educated on it either, but i think there's different types of veneers, one where they shave the entire tooth and another one where they shave off a lot less and just place the veneers on the front of the tooth so it's kinda like a sticker if that makes sense? the latter is probably a lot easier to get rid of.

either way after you've gotten veneers you can pretty much only replace them not remove them because little of your natural tooth is left so you need something to cover them up to be able to eat properly 😬 veneers are probably the last thing i'd ever get done, i'd almost rather get a jaw shave lol

his old teeth were super white and i think a little too big for his mouth so they kinda protruded out.

Veneers can be applied without shaving down the teeth at all, especially if the teeth are small or gappy - as you said they're like a sticker over your teeth made of porcelain, which is why they often look too big for someone's mouth - it makes each individual tooth bigger. The dentist may shave off a small layer of enamel to allow the veneers to fit the mouth better, but they don't shave them all the way down. The procedure where the teeth are shaved down to pegs is called crowns - they're much more extreme and are often used on people who's dental health is compromised such as in cases of dental neglect. I have one crown on a molar that had too many cavities bc i've got genetically bad enamel - for molars they carve out a cup shape and add dental cement to attach the crown. Most idols who's teeth have changed have veneers and invisalign, i'd say crowns would be much more uncommon

kinda bored but feel free to participate or ignore this question: ...if any of you guys were idols, what procedures do you think the agencies would suggest to you? for me, they would most likely suggest these to me:

masseter botox (i have a wide jaw, and my facial shape is round), alarplasty, nose implant (my nose would be considered too wide and too flat for them lmao), chin implant (i have a short blunt chin), forehead implant (my forehead is short and flat), double eyelid surgery (my eyelids are uneven)

i'm curious to hear some of your answers 🙂

botox for sure, i'm 30 so they'd wanna get rid of my cute lil crows feet 😞 lip fillers (which i'd honestly hate, i love the natural shape of my lips, they're naturally 1920's style), subtle rhinoplasty to refine the tip (i naturally have a projecting hybe nose lol, and it's quite slim from the front, but my tip can look bulbous so they'd wanna get rid of that), and they'd probably want to do lipo on my hereditary cankles and excess skin removal from weight loss. maybe a subtle lateral canthoplasty as well to open my eyes a bit more? idk, i like my face so i don't know what else they'd do lol, i tried to word this in a way that emphasized what i love about the features they'd want to change so i don't get too down on myself lol

edit: forgot to add skin resurfacing bc acne scars and freckles lol

(Also, he legally changed his name to Kim Minsung and said he prefers not to be called Hansol anymore because the name has a bad connotation for him.)

I love him! I remember when he was going through that rough patch, i don't blame him for changing his name as a way of moving on from the past. When he was in TD i remember him standing out as a member who'd noticeably had work done - has anyone done an account of his possible procedures?

also obligatory appreciation for his dance bc HOLY lord if y'all haven't looked it up yet go do it now, he's SO talented!

Curious about something. I've read posts on here about Yeji having gotten multiple things done to her jawline and the parts below it, as to define it and make it look overall sharper. It's often the area right below the jaw and the cheek area above the jaw that can make a face look less sharp, so I wondered if HYBE was going to do something like JYPE did to Yeji to Sunoo.

This is apparently from today apart from the last two pics plus the collage pic, although they're recent. His jaw does not look that defined normally.

Compare it to this picture, some promo thingy for their new single/album. It was taken a little while ago, as he clearly doesn't have orange hair anymore.

spacer.png

What I'm trying to say is: did he do something? Slight liposuction (millimeters make the difference in big kpop groups' procedures) or something to do with his lower cheek area (the buccal)? — and wouldn't it take some time to heal, as I've seen some buccal fat removal pictures and people swell up.The whole thing could also be the lighting in the studio he's in, plus like two weeks ago (still black hair) he looked more normal and full in his lower facial region.

promo pics generally aren't reliable to go off of (nor are selfies tbh), bc they're always heavily photoshopped. they blurred his jawline, you can see it especially well in the bottom right photo - i'd say it's more a case of photoshop than anything else, although i wouldn't rule out makeup contouring. makeup and photoshop are certainly a hell of a lot cheaper than liposuction!

he was 17/18 in the first pic vs 21 now. people's jaws fill out a lot in their late teens and early twenties, i'd be more inclined to chalk this up to puberty than anything surgical.

personal chat under a spoiler lmao

Spoiler

as a side note, i was on facebook the other day and saw a memory of my brother pop up from 5 years ago - it was a photo and his jawline was SO much slimmer back then despite the fact he was already in his 20s at that point. i thought of this thread immediately, i know for a fact my brother hasn't had any jaw work done and it opened my eyes to just how much people's faces can continue to change through their 20s. i'd post a photo but he's not a public figure and i don't wanna invade his privacy like that lmao

Hello! Is anyone here who dealt with hair loss and can give me some general info or info about their experience?

I am male in my 20s and i feel like my hair is starting thinning out. I don't know what is the cause, if it's something genetic or it's because of stress caused by school, job, personal problems etc. My doctor told me that the only real solution is a hair transplant but he still gave me a minoxidil foam, a shampoo and some vitamins. The thing is this treatment doesn't work on the long term. If i stop the growth hair starts immediately falling out. Also it's very time consuming and quite expensive. The doctor also didn't tell me what is the exact cause.

What is the hair transplant like? From what i have seen they take follicles from the back and implant them in the thinning areas. A downside would be that it takes like at least 3 months to grow again so you are kinda stuck with that weird colored scalp lol. I'm not sure if there are more types of hair transplants though.

What do idols do with their balding spots or thinning hair? I know BTS V and Nuest Baekho used to have a receding hairline and i wonder how long it took them to recover since they probably had packed schedules.

I would appreciate any details about these topics!

Thanks!🥰

Hair loss is a tricky one, and it's something a lot of men struggle with. If you're in your early 20s a little thinning around the temples is totally normal, the hairline of a healthy adult looks different to the hairline of a teenager or a child. I'd also try and rule out things like stress, extreme dieting, or hormonal fluctuations before taking any permanent measures. If it's definitely male pattern baldness, I know the streamer Hasan has taken Finasteride and seen success with it, although it does have some side effects surrounding fertility that would be worth looking into. Also idk how much it would cost, especially if you live in the USA. I know when Taehyung got his hairline done he went through a phase of wearing bandannas around his forehead while the plugs grew in - look at any photos from DNA era and u don't see his hairline at all. Good luck, and try not to get too down on yourself - worse comes to worst you can always just go full bald, and if you're worried about your dating life, most people don't date someone solely for their hair - your personality is the most important!

Honestly is it just Kpop tho? Majority of famous celebrities (singers or actresses) started their career in their teens. The way Alexa Demie has to hide her age when she doesn't look any less youthful than the rest of Euphoria cast burns me. Idk if it's because of fillers or anything or if she has work done but idk, is being 30 THAT different from being 21? She is literally outshining everyone else visually. Honestly turning anything over 25 scares me right now. It's such an unfair world to girls.

I agree, as someone who turned 30 this year i've only just started to notice some fine lines, people act as if 30-somethings are already decrepit and elderly looking like? 30 isn't that old? Also, to allay some of your fears regarding aging, i'm so much happier now than i was in my early 20s - i've found the older i get the more settled and happy i feel in who i am as a person. and when i start showing physical signs of aging, i'm determined to celebrate them - crows feet and smile lines are physical reminders of all the joy i've felt in my life, and forehead wrinkles and frown lines are a reminder that life needs balance. aging isn't something to be scared of, it's something to be relished and enjoyed, bc you made it. you survived. i've known people who died young, and knowing how much they missed out on makes me more determined to enjoy every moment of life.

I don't think butt surgeries are popular in Korea, the only celebs I can think of who either admitted or are speculated are Jessi and Park Bom. Breast implants are a bit more common (Hyuna, some of the 9Muses ladies, Sowon, one of the CLC girls, etc have been speculated to have gotten them done) so it's possible she has some. But the pictures also look Photoshopped. She has a YouTube channel so maybe there's a video of her which would be more accurate.

not trying to refute the possibility of photoshop/PS, but she could just be pear/hourglass shaped. My body literally looks super similar to hers (I have loose skin from weight loss, but our proportions are similar), she has a long torso and short legs like me, which makes the waist smaller bc the torso has more vertical space for the organs. hourglass shaped bodies can be natural!

This is disgusting. you're comparing idols being objectified, sexualised, and looked down upon by other industries (which is bad and worth being called out!) to literal sex slaves who were systematically raped and tortured by the japanese military and then gaslit by the japanese government post-war. these are not equivalent at all. shame on you.

I've noticed in a lot of behind the scenes content, you can see that idols have these small clips in their hair next to the scalp. Seems like after they wash and blow dry the hair, they put those clips in so the hairs set really lifted at the roots, creating really thick and voluminous-looking hair. It's probably the easiest hairstyling trick that you could try at home.

yep, when they're added to the hair when its hot, as the hair cools it stays in that position - the same way a curling iron works but a lot more gentle. Styling products help as well! Look up padded hair clips if you're interested in getting some for yourself

Off topic but how to idols get their hair to look like that😭

Female idols often wear hair extensions, not just for length but for volume as well - it makes the hair look more lively when they dance! they likely use olaplex products to make the hair look less damaged, and a lot of idols perm their hair to sit a certain way - like if they have a bumpy growth pattern at their crown or gappy bangs, a perm can be used to make the hair fall more neatly.

i learned a lot about idol hairstyling from Kiu on youtube, he works at one of the big beauty shops that idols and celebrities go to for their styling, so he shows a lot of the techniques stylists use to get the idols hair to look a certain way. this video is him just messing around with Somi's hair, but she talks about the hair extensions and her relationship with her hair colour and how being blonde or brunette makes her feel differently, especially being biracial. Kiu also has a great series of videos where he fixes hair disasters that I really like! he treats the people who come in with a lot of empathy and kindness, and also showcases how he manages damage to hair and the techniques used to achieve different hair results, like down perms, or certain colour treatments or cuts that are popular in korea.

YIKES with the racism about east asian breast size. just like any other population there's variation in size and shape between individual people, just because statistically east asian women skew more towards a smaller chest size doesn't mean they can't have large breasts. Jihyo's chest seeming to change shape and size so frequently just shows she changes her bra regularly, it's normal for a bra to change the way ur boobs look, especially when you're a larger cup size. i'm personally an E cup and my chest looks tiny when i wear a sports bra, super low-set and soft when i wear no bra (which is normal! gravity affects our bodies!), and perky and big when i wear a bra with molded cups. the fact that her chest changes so drastically depending on her support garments points to her chest being natural imho, ESPECIALLY when she wears something with little support, that pic in the green strappy top is a clear example of this - if she had implants (yes even tear drop shaped implants) her chest wouldn't spread under the fabric that way.
