there's really no point speculating on concept pics etc, cause those are usually photoshopped to the max. The video too, filters are applied everywhere nowadays. Once she appears in public it'll be clear if she had anything (new) done.

The official photos are too photoshopped and make her nose look quite different. Also others pointed out that her smiling face vs. neutral expression can give a different nostril shape. I went back to see her intro video and the recent interview and her nose looks way less edited and more similar to her predebut pics. She has a very cute smile and somehow reminds me of both Dahyun and Joy.

I think she looks more charismatic and eye catching when not photoshopped to have super sharp features (her teaser photos make her look like Suzy or Jiho from OMG or Sihyeon from Everglow than Kazuha herself).

she doesn't have the typical K-Pop face and I really hope they don't mess with it. She only came to Korea in January apparently and they started shooting content around February/March, so they just didn't have time to do all the procedures I've seen people claim she's had based on the photoshopped concept pics. To me Kazuha is very striking and I see her getting a lot of attention online. I just hope companies remember that visual diversity is a GOOD thing, I never understood why they get everyone the same nose, eyes, jaws etc.

I actually think comments about the Hybe combo for Le Sserafim are premature, cause other than Sakura I don't think anyone's had that particular nose job and the rest look fairly natural to me, or at least all have pretty distinctive nose shapes, none of that cookie cutter stuff.  But also considering I've already seen comments that Garam's nose is too bulbous and flat for a visual and Eunchae's looks weird, I won't be surprised if they get a nose job at some point.

I want to see how Sakura will look once they start performing and appearing in public, cause I have to admit she looks amazing in the photoshoots and pre-debut videos but her nose looked big for her face in that one video I saw posted. Maybe it was still swollen at that point? she's very pretty but she needs to stop messing with her face.

about Sakura, she seems to look good in videos from what I've seen? but her face has that weird stiffness in pictures, especially in a certain light.

I watched the jacket shooting sketch for the album and she looks pretty much the same as in the pictures.

Ok honestly though, putting Simu Liu next to Chris Hemsworth and Henry Cavill was a choice, visually speaking. I think there is a slight difference between cultural beauty standards and international ones. Sure, we may not agree on who is the pinnacle of visual perfection, but we can still see which human is attractive. Simu Liu, bless him, really does look like someone off the street regardless of how manly he is, and Chris and Henry do not. So I kind of got their point there.

but it's not like everyone in the MCU is Chris Hemsworth or DCU Henry Cavill level handsome, they're both supposed to be non-mortal level gorgeous.

like in the MCU, Hawkeye, Hulk, Iron Man and really just a bunch of them are portrayed by actors who look rugged manly more than classically model pretty. Put Simu next to them and nobody in the West will say oh they dropped the ball on that casting. Benedict Cumberbatch is charismatic and a good actor but he's actively kind of weird looking, so I don't think people were mad because the MCU is otherwise filled with models only and Simu was cast for being average to make the Westeners look better, I think they were just mad because they didn't find him attractive and couldn't fathom someone else might.

This is because men and women standards of beauty are the same. You want men to look androgynous : slim body, slim facial features, narrowed jaw, wide eyes, plump lips. That's why Jin is the official visual of the group and the most popular in Korea, while in the West we tend to hype more over Taehyung.

Jin isn't actually the most popular in Korea though. I'd say he was the clear choice for visual at debut, bc the two younger visual line members looked quite childlike still, but V and Jungkook to an extent are arguably more hyped for their looks now, even in Korea. I also don't think Jin really fits the standard you describe, interestingly, I don't think anyone considers him androgynous (compared to like Jimin and V who get those comments sometimes with the right styling), he doesn't really have a slim face, he has a rounder jaw, V and JK are more known for their bigger eyes. Plus the plump lips are more of a recent development, no? almost all the most popular actors I can think of (male) have thinner lips than that.

he's undeniably handsome but idk why people always attribute that to those infamous K-beauty standards.

She’s definitely the thinnest in New Jeans, pretty much at Wonyoung levels of underweight. I usually don’t like to comment on people’s weight unless I’m worried about them from a medical point of view, and I do think it’s warranted in this situation. Women build most of their bone mass until the age of 20-25. From there, the bone mass you have is the bone mass you’ll have for life. Being so underweight and more than likely malnourished with low level of calcium in diet, they’re at a severe risk of osteoporosis when they’re older. Not to mention all of the other obvious/well known health risks of being underweight; cardiac problems, immunity issues, infertility etc. I just hope to dear god that these girls don’t have any of these complications in the future and live happy/healthy lives during and beyond their idol years. I hope someone is out their advocating for them and looking after them.

the really sad thing is that she's not Wonyoung level. Like Danielle is very very thin, no doubt, as skinny as it mostly gets for idols and most likely in the underweight area, but if you compare her body to Wonyoung's, especially thighs, wrists, shoulders, you can see how much skinnier Wonyoung actually is...that's insane. I really worry about her.

It's kinda weird how Chaewon's supposedly boobjob scar was there though? Isn't it normally be under your armpit or some where under your boobs so that the scar can be easily hidden? But yeah I won't be surprised if her current size change is due to a boobjob. Many think that having boobjob = increasing your boobs to the size of two melons but seriously a lot of people just choose to do a slight enhancement that suits their body type well. Both Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid had it done and their boobs are not crazily big, they suit their bodies really well. That's how plastic surgery should aim to look like tbh, a slight enhancement that harmonizes well with the rest of a person's face/body.

tbh I'm not convinced she got one bc yeah the area where she has the scar is unusual, especially considering she's an idol so that area will be visible a lot, you'd think they would want the under armpit version. She could have gotte the scar from other things too.

but if she got one and isn't just padding, it looks very natural. A friend of mine also got a boob job where she just went up one cup size, people questioned why she'd do it for such a small change, but her body looks amazing now. Small changes can really enhance your looks, and still look natural. If you change a lot, chances are it'll throw off your natural features.

NewJeans is seriously scaring me... They really had an all-minor group go through these procedures...

Today they attended an event and Hyein's lips (although I know she naturally has full lips) look so overfilled..

idk about that because if you look closely, it seems they actually tried to make them look a bit smaller (the upper lip especially) with make-up, I think it's that effect that makes them look a bit weird.

I don’t know how to say this politely so I’ll just say it: I feel like sometimes jimin does it for attention so I don’t feel sorry for him plus him and TH seem to talk shit about JK’s bodybuilding, it seems perhaps he has given into pressure.

Remember when JK bulked up and TH, Jimin and another member (I can’t remember who, I think namjoon) kept calling JK muscle pig and kept saying not everyone likes your muscles? Their fans played it like “they’re like brothers, this is how brothers are. There is no harm intended”.

If one of my brothers said this to another of my brothers my Mum’s backhand would come out so quick.

are you blaming the other members for JK's potential eating issues? because from what I remember they always praise and fawn over his muscles/body. Didn't they all start working out too? I have no idea why you think the others were critical of JK bulking up and "pressured" him into losing weight again. If anything, athletic Jungkook has always been presented as body goals by BTS and I distinctly remember him being complimented for his body A LOT, and also members being like, no you should eat, have some food when he talked about dieting. Obviously they're all dieting all the time, such is the life of a Kpop idol, but your comment is really projecting a LOT onto them.

Edit: and not to mention, when Jimin diets he's "doing it for the attention" but when Jungkook does it, he's being pressured by his mean group mates? lol that's certainly a take.

To be fair, the West does a similar thing with tanning. There's nothing more attractive about tan skin or pale skin, but they are markers for class/wealth, basically. Just look at the fake tan, tanning salon, and bronzer ("warm up the face" lmao) markets. You have people dead convicted they look 'sickly' when they are literally their natural born shade. And then in SK they are convinced they look 'sallow' or 'tired' with a less 'bright' skin tone. It's all in the words they use. You can call pale sickly or bright, you can call tan skin dark or glowing. It's just skin, literally an organ...

I don't think that's comparable. There's a bunch of models/actresses/etc with very pale skin and they're also considered very beautiful. You get the whole range. Whereas in SK literally everyone except for one or two notable exceptions are usually picking the palest possible filters and foundation.

Whoever said that tanning is not that in anymore has not been to Europe, particularly the UK, which is where Charlotte Tilbury is from. That actually explains the general tanned skin tone in that picture, because it's the beauty standard in the UK and has been for a while. It's just like Shiseido selling some 'bright snow foundation' or whatever lol

I'm from Europe and lived in the UK and tanning is only a thing among a subsection of the population and definitely in no way comparable to how ubiquitous the pale skin beauty standard in in SK. Every white person I hung out with in Scotland was pale as snow, and so were any middle and upper class people from elsewhere in the UK. The heavy self tanning look is very much associated with working class (think Geordie Shore) and therefore seen as tacky.

the country I live in now is the same, except the self tanning look is even rarer, you barely see people like that and those are usually people who favour a certain look overall, which is absolutely not the mainstream beauty standard.
