Official Plastic Surgery Thread

I've said this before but I don't think he actually got a nose job, but he definitely got fillers like sofi said. His nose did change drastically over time but really it was just the tip, then the accident really messed up his nose. Usually you get nose jobs to make your nose smaller unless you do a cartilage graft, but his overall nose just got thicker so I think he got permanent fillers.

I used to think he got his eyes done recently but now I'm not so sure, his crease can look really deep at times and not so deep at other times.

The consensus is pretty much that Minho, Taemin, and Onew did get nose jobs but those could be permanent fillers also. Noses are pretty simple to fix if there isn't a big change needed and surgery isn't always necessary.

When you think like that, then you aren't thinking realistically. In no world is there every celebrity getting plastic surgery, not even in Korea and this is seen by that fact that there ARE idols who are natural. Thinking this way will cause you to always look at plastic surgery as an explanation and neglect other possibilities. You will be picking at every slightest difference and every smallest detail when that's just not realistic no matter how "realistic" you may think it is.

I don't think Taemin got a double eyelid surgery, he's had that kind of eyelid since he was in primary school (unless he got it then....)

If you look at the pic on the far left

Are all the people claiming that idols got their skin bleached trolls? or are they legitimate accusations?

I don't find it unnatural for someone to become pale/white (esp if they're east Asian) even if they were tan in their childhood (even post debut really)

It's actually pretty unnatural considering how most people get darker as they age as your "perma-tan" grows deeper due to more sun-exposure over time. Also, Korea has lots of clinics where you can indulge in a bit of Gluta + vita C IV and gradually get lighter over time. No one is trolling. Tiffany & Jessica are now the whitest people in SNSD...that's more than losing a California tan. And it's not like you just naturally tan in California; there are LOTS of pale people around...you actually have to try and tan here. Key and Taeyeon also got lighter too...that's not natural. One way to be considered a "superior" beauty in asia is to have "milky white skin" so it makes sense that they would use skin-lighteners to help achieve this look. That's why people got mad at Luhan for saying pale skin is better. He was much darker before his "idol" days so he obviously lightened his skin...he shouldn't make other people feel insecure about having dark skin just because he was insecure about his.

Sorry, I want to make one thing clear first (idk why but I never thought about this). Would using skin whitening products (that are commercially sold) in places like Japan considered skin bleaching (and one form of ps)? Because there are so many skin care products that promote by guaranteeing white skin....If it is I wouldn't even consider it as ps or anything close to it in anyway. I might even consider it as a "natural" thing that most people in Japan/East Asia do.

And If it is....why is it such a big deal though? It probably has to do with racism/colorism and what not but for east Asians, by bleaching their skin they're not denying their own race....or other races who have darker skin (because foreigners are judged at a different standard) I understand the reason but at the same time I don't...

Edit: I'm not trying to support or argue against skin bleaching btw. It's just really really really really really common in Japan to use those products. And in no way do Japanese people see it as ps.

As for the reason why i don't find it unnatural 1)people I've known who were tan in in grade school became white in middle/high school (but they might have used skin whitening products which I didn't consider before) 2) my skin becomes much lighter when I spend even just a few weeks in Japan during the winter

I'm not saying that people you've mentioned haven't bleached their skin, just that it's completely possible for tan East Asians to become considerably white without bleaching their skin.

  • 1 year later...

Taemin's face got weird sometime in 2013, all of a sudden it looked kinda bloated. Dunno if he stopped getting botox for jaw definition or something else.

He gains weight easily on his face.

He had more weight in early 2013(?) in comparison to 2012 that is. He was really skinny then.

He was really skinny in mid 2014 because of his solo, and maintained his weight until tokyo dome. Then he gained some back around late July (or enough to be noticeable) until about a several weeks ago (a lot of fans were pointing at his round stomach^^) He looks like he's lost weight again though.

The weight gain in his face correlates with that of his body if you care to look closely enough.

He's always been on the skinny side, and he doesn't easily gain weight on his legs so it might not be that apparent.

I'm not refuting that he's  gotten botox, just that "it kind of looked bloated" isn't a good identifier for botox in his case since his face gains weight easily.

2013 also happens to be the same year that he started to get a lot of ps accusations, because of the excessive amount of make up the SHINee stylists put on him (+ color contacts). So that's probably another reason why you thought "his face got weird"

I just really hope when people make these comments that they're doing it after looking through a lot of photos of whoever they're talking about.
