Anyone know which members of NMIXX might've had plastic surgery? I watched a KBS video with the members, and Haewon's nose stuck out to me as seeming quite high given the size of her nostrils. Jiwoo, Lily, Bae, and Sullyoon looked natural at first glance, though I didn't look at any predebut pictures to compare. I know Sullyoon is supposed to be the visual and has a fairy-like quality to her, but Jiwoo is incredibly beautiful to me!

It's so annoying to me when fans talk about idols and their eating habits. Unless you live with them or see what they eat day to day it's a completely pointless discussion.

I agree that 90% of the time it's usually speculation or assumptions made without much evidence. To be fair, though, through watching the idols interact over time, fans can sometimes pick up on patterns that give them some clues to idols' eating habits. For example, some idols might mention being jealous of a group member who doesn't "need" to diet, or they might notice that one member frequently eats something different from other members (e.g., Gfriend's Sowon eats pizza below around the 2:00 minute mark while the other girls get salad). Or during interviews, idols will sometimes be asked about which members have the best self-control or even be asked questions about eating habits directly. I know what the idols say about their own habits is sometimes very curated, but in some interviews, other group members will occasionally reveal habits that the idol didn't necessarily want to say themselves.

It's absolutely possible! My cousins and mother both have had that happen to them. My cousins had to wear eyelid tape every day and their skin 'adjusted' or whatever, but my mother's developed naturally. See this Soompi thread for more cases!

What's not possible—and I feel like this is discussed a lot less—is both double eyelids appearing at the exact same time. Like how hair grows at different speeds, eyelids cam appear at different times too. Even more sus if the eyelids are perfectly even.

(Also, not related but I suspect more idols have aegyo-ssal fillers than we think. Aegyo-ssal isn't completely symmetrical either, and there's only so much some glittery make-up can do.)

Yeah I wanted bigger double eyelids when I was 19, so I wore eyelid tape daily for a few months until the new crease became permanent. One of my mom's friends accused me of getting surgery lol. I'm 31 now, and they've stayed put, though I'm guessing when my eyelids get saggier over the next couple decades, they could revert back and I might need to visit a plastic surgeon if I want the higher crease.

Fair warning - stretching the eyelids will make the skin permanently more saggy and make eyes look smaller or sleepy, so whenever I removed the eyelid tape, I NEVER pulled them off. I gently dabbed olive or mineral oil all around the tape once every 20-30 minutes for 2-4 hours until the tape just fell off without pulling at my skin at all. Eyelid skin is incredibly delicate and should be treated as such.

Also, I don't imagine this method would work as well with thick/heavy upper eyelids. The skin above my eyelids looks thin, similar to Twice's Chaeyoung.

Why the fuck am I getting clowned lol, y'all lurkers have a problem.

I'm guessing if you had said something more along the lines of "I appreciate when idols get more subtle enhancements like Seungmin's nose job here" people wouldn't have reacted negatively to your comment? I actually feel like a good proportion of idols only get subtle enhancements since bigger changes are usually riskier. Off the top of my head, Jisoo, Lisa, Sana, Seulgi, and Yeji (specifically comparing her predebut look with her look right after debuting) all have had really nice, subtle enhancements that add to their existing beauty.

Damn idols are really so much thinner in real life. Must suck to feel good about yourself at something like 105-115 lbs and then get on stage and have strangers say you let yourself go.

Does anyone think Taeyeon looks a bit different this promotion too?

This picture of Winter appeared on my feed today and I got so worried that the SM chin implant person got to her as well. But I found videos and her chin doesn't look like that.

Taeyeon's jawline seems very fragile these days, and I feel it's especially apparent with her current low body weight. Whenever I see current videos, her jawline seems too delicate to be safe/healthy or natural. I think she might've had a chin implant at some point that's causing her chin to appear more pointy than it did previously.

I seriously doubt taeyeon’s jaw is fragile considering her singing is not suffering from TMJ and it’s been years now, lol

a bit unpopular but i liked how good Taeyeon’s opening up her eyes turned out.

I agree that Taeyeon's eyelid surgery took her from cute to being able to flip from cute to being a bombshell.

I'm just saying that it looks like she's lost enough jaw that I'm concerned for her long-term health outcomes even though I may not know all the possible negative outcomes and their likelihoods. I do know that everyone loses facial bone with age (see below), and when people shave away so much of their jaw in early adulthood, I wonder if it affects their health later on.

eoHJxZe.jpg

On the off chance anyone reading this thinks this bone loss is a potential positive since it "slims" the jaw - it's not. In addition to causing a less pronounced gonial angle (i.e., a traditional "jaw shave"), bone loss also occurs in other parts of the face near the mouth that ultimately make the person just look older.

Have any of you noticed your own nose changing a decent amount naturally when transitioning from adolescence to adulthood? When I compare my 13- and 14-year-old self to my college pictures (see below), I feel like my alar base used to be wider and my nose tip less refined. The only difference between the top and bottom pictures is that I'm wearing eyeliner in the bottom pictures - no foundation, contour, etc. There's also no filter on the college pictures since they were taken with a normal camera in 2009. In general, I've realized that my nose looked wider and flatter up until I was around 16 to 18-years-old, when it stabilized.

I dunno, it's just that my own nose changing made me skeptical of when people are confident an idol had a nose job during childhood due to small changes in the idol's alar base and nose tip. Obviously large differences are likely due to surgery, but I don't really know that I can be confident when I only see small changes.

I think this is merely a case of the nose growing first and then the face growing into it, which is pretty common actually. Like every part of your body (especially the hands and feet) doesn't always grow at the same rate during puberty. This is why some people can look really awkward during puberty years.  Your nose didn't get smaller, it just stayed the same while the rest of the face grew. I think Bahiyyeh is another case where she really grew into her nose.

I do think there are some cases where people have said some idols have had alarplasty or something when it might just be growing features.

Also, you're really pretty!

Yeah I guess infants never have tall/refined noses, so it's not crazy that the shape of the nose itself changes during the growing years.

And aw, thank you! A lifetime of being held to asian beauty standards sometimes makes me forget to appreciate the aspects of my face that I like.

Bang Chan from Stray Kids' nose transformation. Not sure if he's had a chin implant since it sometimes doesn't look like it. I can always instantly tell whether a gif is from his early years or later years based on his nose - it's softer and less refined early on.

Also, even though he works out and has low body fat and you might expect his jawline to be very defined, it's less defined these days (see the right bottom-most picture) compared to earlier years. I'm not sure if any cosmetic procedures can cause that kind of issue.

To me this just shows that people that decide on these producers don't understand you need to keep in mind the persons face in mind and not just whats 'desirable'. He just looks like he lost some facial harmony with these changes. I mean im happy they havent gone all out on changing his features to fit more on the KBS but still..

Yeah I do agree that whatever he did with his jawline was unnecessary. I think the changes to his nose were an effort to lean into the more masculine, "bad boy" aesthetic he has these days on stage. His earlier styling was more boyish and puppy-like.

kpoprocedure made a post abt him actually. the loss of definition of his lower face is bc of masseter botox (his jaw used to be a lot more square-shaped with obvious sharp angles, but now it looks softer). and yeah, he's apparently had a chin implant placed. you can check his post out here: https://www.instagram.com/p/Cg19OLLgar8/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

Thanks for sharing! I haven't been able to find much stuff online about his plastic surgery, only fans claming that he couldn't have had a nosejob because his nose is slightly crooked (without makeup).

If the KpopProcedure instagram is right and he got an alarplasty to narrow the width of his nose's base, I feel like that wasn't the correct choice for his face. I think people find him attractive because of his broader, more masculine nose.

wendy is so scarily thin again......... :((

Poor Wendy. 😕 She looks around 120-130 lbs in her predebut pictures, and it must be a constant struggle for her to try to maintain a weight around 95-110 lbs. I think there's a video on Youtube showing her weight fluctuating quite a bit throughout the years, so she probably has some kind of disordered eating.

EDIT: Here's the video. How rapidly she gains and loses weight is particularly worrying. I hope if she has unhealthy eating habits that she's getting counseling. I used to binge and restrict in college, but I've had a healthy relationship with food the last few years. Life's so much more enjoyable when I'm not thinking about food 50% of the day and hating myself for eating 3000 calories in the last two hours. I also weigh less now that I'm not constantly thinking about food.

Yes, I noticed they slimmed down. They still look fine - for idol standards - but I hope they don't lose even more.

Twice also slimmed down significantly, especially Sana and Mina.

I don't understand how these women function on a day-to-day basis.. I'm finishing grad school right now and didn't have time yesterday to do more than shove 300-500 calories of peanut butter into my mouth, and it was tiring just to shower the next morning even though I've been eating normally the rest of the time. But all I'm doing is typing away at my computer for 12 hours a day while these idols are out there dancing for two hours in a row? I wonder what they have in those IV drips they give idols to give them enough energy for concerts.

Think Lee Know's nose job is a work of art, though he obviously had a fantastic base to work off. In the Stray Kids survival show in 2017 (left side in the below image), he just looks like a cute, slightly japanese-looking kid. After his alarplasty, he looks like he'd be really popular with young girls since he looks like high school boyfriend from a webtoon sometimes with his makeup and hair styling. They even kept the slight hump in his nose bridge! Amazing.

Kpoprocedure on Instagram claims that he only got alarplasty - is it possible for alarplasty to give someone's nose more projection? I swear his nose projects more these days compared to the Stray Kids survival show, but it could just be the intense contouring tricking my eyes.

qb40jog.png

I also appreciate that his nose tip is a little boxy (see below). With nose implants being so rampant, it seems more common to see the usual perfect oval-shaped nose tip on idols.

he actually had both alarplasty and tip plasty (you might've missed that part) acc to kpoprocedure. his tip does look more projected which i guess was part of his tip plasty procedure.

Ahh ok. I didn't know that tip plasty could increase projection (thought it just alters the shape).

EDIT: Heh I just looked up tip plasty on Google images and have even more respect for Lee Know's surgeon. So many slightly pinched noses and nose tips made too small in relation the person's overall face.

Love how people clown such posts and then never follow it up with anything. There's so much one can possibly dissect and disagree with, yet all they do is use clown and skull emojis. Good luck to them irl if they can't have a healthy conversation online

Lol that kind of stuff is just a given for any online discourse. I see entirely innocuous Reddit comments like "Thanks so much!" downvoted initially all the time.

How did they fix his acne scars? Or is it makeup + editing? Cos those scars look DEEP

Laser treatment and derma rolling seem to be the most effective for deeper acne scars, at least according to the skincare addiction subreddit? Haven't seen many super closeup, unedited pictures of his face recently, so idk how his scars are these days.

I gave a skull emoji because of the « japanese-looking kid » which sound racist to me 🤷🏻‍♀️

Eh I mean that's fair if you think it sounds discriminatory or prejudiced, but as a Taiwanese American, I personally don't think it sounds racist given that it's pointing out a difference between ethnic groups but not making a value judgment at the same time (e.g., "He used to look japanese, but now he looks more korean 😕"). I feel like when south korean netizens point out that an idol looks southeast asian, for example, that comes across as more prejudiced because a small chunk of korean people explicitly use that to derogate a person's looks.

gevQCny.jpg

It's just that after decades of being around east asian people, you come to immediately clock the guy in the bottom left as almost definitely being korean and the guy in the top right as being a chinese grad student lol.

The Chinese vs. Taiwanese comparison in the above picture makes me laugh because yeah, now that I think about it, Taiwanese people tend to look less glamorous but more approachable than Chinese people.

I mean I included fresh pictures of her with her eyes closed for a reason. There's no tape. But if you have the video with the date and all, I would love to see it

Edit: found the 2022 clip myself

20220628092422_62ba4a3615233.gif

Her eyelid creases are just as deep and crisp after taking it off, they don't look like her 2019 eyelids. In my humble opinion

I hope that eyelid tape isn't pulling too much on her skin when she removes it like that... Pulling or stretching the eyelids is a sure way to make them sag much faster. One of my eyes looks smaller because I used to just pull the tape off it. I now remove eyelid tape by dabbing the area with mineral oil every 15 minutes until the tape comes off without pulling my skin.

On a related note, I used eyelid tape in my teen years for a few months and got a permanently higher crease that's lasted several years, so it's not impossible to do. My pre- and post-tape eyelid creases actually match Shuhua's very closely. That being said, there are some eyelid types where I couldn't see this working as well. Someone with more fat in their upper eyelids or with more hooded eyes could need surgery to get a higher eyelid crease to stay put.

[Edit] Below are some pictures of my eyes before I used eyelid tape (for about three months total) and several years after. First two are before eyelid tape. These days, I only really use eyelid tape maybe once every few months for a special occasion if I want to "fix" my smaller right eye.

if you wear eyelid tape, do your eyelids snap back to their og shape immediately after removal of the tape? i remember watching some video of a girl explaining how eyelid tape works and how one's eyelid shape can change slightly for a few minutes after removal IF they've worn the tape throughout the day.

Depends on a few factors, including how much higher the new crease is compared to your old one, your upper eyelid fat, and how hooded your eyes are. I posted pictures above of how my eyelids changed permanently after wearing eyelid tape pretty consistently for a few months.

Chan, what's wrong..?

Honestly I am not sure if it is just a bad editing + contact lenses, but Bangchan looks here like a whole different person. I kinda notice more and more these days that his face changes.

H4obiVp.jpg

His nose implant has been drooping a little low with time. In some pictures, especially those from a lower angle, it almost seems like his nose is folding down a little bit.

5eOSgAC.png

Below shows him predebut (before his first nose implant), 2018 (debut year), 2020, and the last two rows are from this month.

MTZfzkA.png

Kind of bums me out because he was a cute kid at debut:

And he had the right features to look classically handsome in 2020:

I feel like these days when I see his face, his nose and lips stand out way more than they used to, though I'm sure part of it is makeup. I don't like the lip filler on him, though the nose implant drooping is something he doesn't have control over and will need to get fixed eventually.

Seems so stressful to have plastic surgery that requires maintenance like nose implants that droop or a jaw shave that requires the occasional face lift. I only learned recently from a Reddit thread that jaw shaves can also increase the deepness of labionasal folds since that entire side of your face has lost part of its anchor, and it's hard to get that skin attached in the same way that it used to be.

I'm not really familiar with Bangchan's face, but to my understanding he always had a big nose. Why did they put an implant on top of that as well? (I am not denying he has one, just wondering why)

Kpoprocedure on Instagram has a good summary of his cosmetic changes, but you can see in the predebut pictures I linked above that his nose was a little flatter and down-turned when he was a trainee. I didn't have time to find pictures that matched the angle of those predebut pictures, but if you just search for pictures of him online, you'll see that he doesn't have the down-turned, slightly hooked nose anymore. His nose bridge is always straight now or slightly hooked if he's smiling.

I think his first nose job (see the above 2018 pictures) was decent. It gave him a straighter nose bridge and a little more height, but it wasn't noticeably "plastic" unless you knew what his nose looked like before. I don't think he did anything to decrease the width of his nose before debuting.

Kpoprocedure thinks he got an alarplasty a couple years after debuting to bring in his nostrils and make the base of his nose slimmer, though I think if he got one, it's subtle enough that I have a hard time being certain.

His nose is definitely bigger and wider than the average kpop idol and Bang Chan definitely mentions it as an insecurity, but to me, it was refreshing to see a guy who was less of a delicate flower-boy type. I personally think JB from Got7, Taecyeon, and 2020 Chan are some of the most attractive male faces because they tend to have more masculine features like wider noses, a stronger jawline, and smaller and more hooded eyes.
