When ever I talk to my foreign friends like my friend from Germany and his Mexican girlfriend. They talk about how their langauges are better for expressing emotions and how you can change the language based on who you are talking to..

Like in English their is not formal or informal tone so you just speak to everyone the same way. Also in other languages you can speak in away that people know your emotion behind what you are saying.

In English people have a hard time telling what emotion a person has through text. I realized on OH most people think everything is shade because of the general feeling of this website, but I bet most people aren't even trying to be shady.

Maybe if another more effective language was the international language it would be better. What do you guys think??

Of course foreign people would say it is easier to express their emotions in their mother tongue because it is their native language, it is natural, however, I disagree with the idea that English is not "good enough" to express emotions due to vocabulary syntax or whatever reason you might have thought. It depends on the person and the cultural background people have. OH people think everything is shading because all of them think everyone is making fun of their faves and they get over sensitive, I don't blame the language

And English DO have formal and informal tone, what are you talking about? lol

but there is an informal and formal tone. there are slang words and such and most respectable people wouldn't talk slang to, say, their boss at work.

No there is not.

It just people saying rude things or saying nice things. thats not the same as informal tone.

I speak English but I'm confused when some people say it's easy to learn and others say it's one of the hardest languages?!

Honey trust me it's the easiest

The hardest thing are prepositions and phrasal verbs. Maybe one conditional but that's it.

I myself speak German and some other languages, and I can understand the formal - informal (who you address thing). As for the emotions... emotions are not only used through language anyways, but I don't really think that through English you can't express how you feel, there are so many ways to actually express yourself.
I do think tho. that English is an easy language.

i don't think it is inefficient. i often find that English offers me better words or expressions to say something.

i often happen to resort to the english word instead of my own as well.

i do think my language has it's own beauty.

i think the trick with english, since it's so wildly spread, is that people interpret the words based on their meanings in their own language. so for different people, the same word can bring different meanings. i like the somewhat simplicity of it because it creates a base to follow so that everyone can understand.

the "Shade feeling" on the forum is mostly because people often do shade others and groups and there is a very frequent feeling of sarcasm.

i think that once the English vocabulary becomes more complex, it is much easier to relay a feeling.

i will tho, prefer to say things like "I love you" in my own language because i feel that in this way, i can portray a deeper honest feeling. it feels a bit more real if i say it in my own language.

and English has it's complicated stuff too. someone posted a video above.

i guess those that learn a more elaborated English will find it harder while those settling for basic English find it simple

Trust, it IS one of the easiest in my opinion. The pronunciation of the words are pretty straight forward, and the rules are basic. I was able to pick it up under a year as a child.

English isn't much compared to tonal languages, which change with how you pronounce a word.

(But I can see why some people have difficulty with English due to grammar rules)

and???

your point???

no one was even talking about difficulty, the title says simplicity/inefficiency

You said ''how it's simple if it's the language the the highest number of words'' the opposite of simple, difficult. You implied it

I don't think it's inefficient though
