MAC Cosmetics will launch a makeup line honoring legendary Latina singer Selena

MAC may have cornered the market on makeup collaborations. The cosmetics company is already well-known for working with big names like Rihanna, Lorde and Nicki Minaj. This is to say that we’ve come to expect a lot from them, but I’m hardly the first to note that they’ve outdone themselves with this morning’s announcement.

“Like the legend herself, Selena Quintanilla’s fans are an inspiration to us all for their love and enthusiasm,†the brand announced on Instagram. “It’s happening! We are excited to announce the M•A•C Selena Quintanilla collection, available in 2016. @SelenaQOfficial #MACSelena.â€

The multi-product collection, an elegant tribute to the late Latin icon Selena Quintanilla, drops toward the end of 2016 (thanks in no small part to this Change.org petition). No word yet on the products themselves, but if past launches are anything to go by, expect it to sell out fast. Personally, I’m anticipating some red lipstick.

“Selena’s talent and beauty, inside and out have, have left a colourful, meaningful impact in the world, that has continued to grow over the last two decades,†says MAC Senior Vice President/Group Creative Director James Gager. “We have heard the passion and enthusiasm from her fans and wholeheartedly agree that her legacy embodies M·A·C’s philosophy. We are so excited to announce a Selena inspired M·A·C collection debuting in the latter part of 2016.â€

Get an Exclusive First Look at Late Singer Selena Quintanilla's M.A.C Makeup Line

M.A.C is honoring the life of Tejano music icon Selena Quintanilla 21 years after her tragic death with a new multi-product, limited-edition collection, and PeopleStyle has all of the exclusive details on the line.

“I wanted the colors to be about her personally, what she wore on and offstage,†Selena’s sister, Suzette Quintanilla, tells PeopleStyle exclusively. “She has been gone for 21 years already, and for this collaboration to happen, it’s pretty much incredible. It just shows the love her fan base has even though she’s gone; that her music still lives on and her legacy has grown tremendously since she’s passed. It’s a great honor to have M.A.C collaborate with Selena’s name and her fans — for her fans.â€

Though full details are limited, PeopleStyle can exclusively report that the collection will be filled with bright, bold lipsticks (as shown above) packaged in equally vibrant purple tubes.

Suzette shares that her sister, who was murdered by her fan-club president Yolanda Saldívar in 1995, always hoped to have a makeup collection of her own.

“Helping to create this collection brings me back to all those late-night conversations on our tour bus when she spoke of having her own makeup line one day,†Suzette says. “If Selena were here she would be beyond ecstatic to have this happening. History is being made.â€

“Selena’s talent and beauty, inside and out, have left a colorful, meaningful impact in the world that has continued to grow over the last two decades,†M.A.C creative director James Gager previously told PeopleStyle. “We have heard the passion and enthusiasm from her fans and wholeheartedly agree that her legacy embodies M.A.C’s philosophy. We are so excited to announce a Selena-inspired M.A.C collection debuting in the latter part of 2016.â€

Start dreaming of the line tonight: The special-edition Selena collection will hit M.A.C. makeup counters in October.

MAC Releases Another Peek At Its Highly Anticipated Selena Quintanilla Collection

Is it October yet?

If there’s one thing you’ll

, it’s MAC Cosmetics’ highly anticipated Selena Quintanilla line.

After announcing it would create a line in honor of the slain Tejano singer in July 2015, the brand gave fans a peek at one of the lipstick shades in April. Then, on Thursday, MAC released yet another glimpse at some of the offerings in the line — and it’s good

MAC and Selena’s sister Suzette Quintanilla Arriaga, who curated the collection, hit up Snapchat and Periscope to debut three lipsticks titled after Selena songs “Como La Flor,†“Amor Prohibido†and “Dreaming of You.†They also debuted a “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom†lipgloss that sounds like it will be available online.

MAC also shared a more extensive look on Instagram, including two eyeshadows and a blush duo as well as the lipsticks.

Arriaga, who wrote on Instagram she is “so excited this day is here,†showed off even more products, including additional eyeshadows and what looks like a liner and mascara, too.

The line’s existence can be credited largely to Quintanilla’s massive fan base, which has kept her memory alive after she was fatally shot in 1995 by the former president of her fan club. Make-up artist and Selena fan José Antonio Figueroa started the movement when he photoshopped Selena’s face onto a MAC lipstick with the hashtag #SelenaQuintanillaForMAC, ultimately prompting a petition to MAC that had collected 38,000 names by the time the brand announced a collection would happen.

Head to MAC’s Snapchat, Periscope and Instagram for more.
