Super Junior’s Kim Heechul Tears Up Over Story Of Eunhyuk’s Response To His Health Concerns Before Comeback

Super Junior had an emotional talk on the show "Life Bar" about Kim Heechul's health concerns and how they decided together to approach the issue for their comeback.


During the November 9 episode of "Life Bar", Eunhyuk mentioned the time that Kim Heechul (who is a regular cast member) appeared on the show while wearing sunglasses. He had explained that he was hiding his eyes because he'd been crying over the pain he felt after practicing choreography for Super Junior's comeback.

 

Eunhyuk said in the latest episode, "I didn't know that he had cried. I found out that he'd cried through an article after the show aired. Since I'm not him, I don't know how much pain he's in. There are even some times when I forget, because he's so playful and more upbeat than people who are completely fine."
 

Eunhyuk continued, "Once he said so, I realized that I needed to take more care about that. Honestly, I was sorry about it."
 

Kim Heechul appeared to be getting emotional as he replied, "There's no reason to be sorry!"
 

"I felt sorry to even say, "Still, it would be good if you could do it with us even if it's just at the end," said Eunhyuk.

Kim Heechul replied that he felt sorry to the other members for having to ask them to put him at the end because of his leg. “Because of my pride, I couldn’t tell them that I was in pain,†he said. “They’d always been changing the choreography because of me.â€

Kim Heechul then teared up as he said he was truly very apologetic towards them, and said he hates getting emotional on variety shows.

“I said to Eunhyuk, ‘Hey, I think I won’t be able to do this. I don’t want us to be denigrated because of me, and I’ll promote Super Junior in other places, so I want to stop doing this,†said Kim Heechul.

He then continued, “But Eunhyuk said to me in this cool way while a little drunk, ‘It’s alright, you can just come in at the end.’†The guys then laughed at how Kim Heechul was doing an impression of Eunhyuk while drunk to try to lessen the emotional atmosphere, as Kim Heechul wiped his tears before telling Eunhyuk to take over.

Eunhyuk said, “There are a lot of our members who aren’t able to be with us this time, so it’s good if even one more of us can take part, and also the idea of Heechul not performing with us even though he’s a member is so weird.â€

“I thought ‘Of course he has to do it with us,'†said Eunhyuk. “But when he said he was in so much pain, I wondered, ‘Was I only thinking about Super Junior’s performances?’ So I said to him, ‘It would be good if you can join us even at the end, even just for a small part. I want to do it with you. I want to perform with you.’â€

Kim Heechul then reached out to clink his glass with Eunhyuk’s.

Super Junior recently made a comeback with their new album “PLAY,†which features the title track “Black Suit.†The group performed the song for the first time on television on “M!Countdown†on November 9.

Super Junior's Kim Heechul Talks About Malicious Comments and Deciding To Open Up About His Health

At a press conference for Super Junior’s new album, Kim Heechul talked about why he decided to open up about his injury before their comeback.

 

 

 

A reporter mentioned during the conference that many fans are worried about Kim Heechul after he posted recently on Instagram to talk about the chronic pain in his ankle caused by a car accident in 2006. Kim Heechul first replied by thanking everyone for their concern.

 

 

 

“Since 11 years ago when I was in a car accident, every time we’ve done a comeback, I’ve heard the same things,†he said. “For example, when we were doing performances of ‘Rokkugo’ and ‘Don’t Don,’ there were a lot of postings that said things like ‘Just go to the army,’ or ‘You purposely got in an accident to avoid going to the army.’â€

 

 

 

He went on to say that during “Sorry Sorry,†Eunhyuk had arranged their choreography so that he could dance in just the latter part because of his ankle. “People then commented, ‘He’s earning money so easily,’†said Kim Heechul.

 

 

 

He said that such comments continued even after he was discharged from the military (where he was in the civil service), and throughout more recent comebacks such as with “Mamacita†and “Devil.â€

 

 

 

“If I was fun and passionate at a concert for example, I’d be told ‘Go to the army,’†said Kim Heechul. “If the members arranged it so that I was only appearing in the end part, then the comments would say, ‘His job is so easy.’ I think internet comments inevitably end up being like a constraint.â€

 

 

 

Kim Heechul said that he’d thought for a long time about when to talk about his injury. “It was getting worse with age, and the doctor said it wasn’t possible for it to get better and that I’d need to keep up rehabilitation treatments so that it wouldn’t get worse,†said Kim Heechul. “So Eunhyuk, Shindong, and the members changed the ‘Black Suit’ choreography, even though we’re missing a member, so that I would only be at the end again.â€

 

 

 

“We’re a cool performance team, but our choreography has been changed a lot because of me, since I can’t use my ankle,†he said. “There have been cases where our team’s been denigrated because our cooler choreography had to be changed because of me.â€

 

 

 

He explained that he had posted on Instagram because of this, but added that he didn’t really think anything would be different because of his post. “They’ll still keep commenting in the same way, but I wanted to talk to the fans who support me and Super Junior,†he said. “The fans have been frustrated about the malicious comments and saying, ‘Why aren’t the members suing them? Why doesn’t SM sue them?’ I wondered if it wouldn’t help a bit [to post].â€

I was going to write an emotional post about Life Bar and Heechul but that will have to wait, because this appeared in my life - Heechul in I guess SNL. It's dirty and hilarious even without English subs.
