Article: 'Abnormal Summit' Tachara, "There are a lot of transgenders in Thailand"

Source: X Sports News via Naver

"There are actually a lot. We don't care about it at all. Thai people consider it karma." When asked if they were bullied, he replied, "No. You actually get a choice in some schools which uniform you prefer wearing."

-

1. [+2,128, -19] It's so fun hearing about how other countries work ã…‹ã…‹ Really interesting that they get to pick which gender uniforms they want to wear.. ã…‹ã…‹

2. [+1,754, -60] I felt that the majority of Thailand would be more conservative so it's surprising to hear that they're so open about transgenders

3. [+1,256, -67] I find the transgenders to be a lot prettier and feminine than me...

4. [+947, -33] I believe they even have a show on transgenders..

5. [+512, -21] I live in Thailand myself and it's true that people don't really care. There are a lot of transgender employees at the mall, on TV, I see about 1 in 5 on the streets. A lot also become stewardesses. They're exempt from the army as well but had to write in that they were mentally ill which people protested about so they don't do that anymore. The media also enjoys spotlighting some super pretty ones who cross dress or are just prettier in general at the army physical examinations. They're model-level ã…‹ã…‹

6. [+133, -2] If you go to college in Thailand, you can see a lot of men who wear make up or dress like a female. Their gestures and manner of speech are feminine as well;;

7. [+123, -5] I went to a famous transgender show in Thailand once and the models there are seriously top level. Tiny faces, long limbs, so pretty ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ All of the Koreans with us were going crazy at how pretty they were ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ I also like Tachara-ssi, such a positive impression and good Korean skills to boot ã…‹ã…‹ what a bright young man

8. [+120, -13] This makes me want to go to vacation to Thailand... people really are that lax over there? He said they don't get angry, daebak...

9. [+97, -7] So glad to learn about different cultures through this show. A lot of interesting topics.

10. [+121, -33] Thailand is a Buddhist nation... so it seems that it's engrained in their culture to accept differences. Buddhism accepts all religions and they have a chance to wash away their karma through reincarnation. Way better than "you're going to hell if you don't believe us!!!" like Christianity ã…‹ã…‹

you mad someone mentioned christianity's passive agressive intolerance?

I just dont understand how that was relevant though

we're talking about trasgender, why even bring religion?

Would the reactions be the same if #10 said islam instead of christianity?

yeah this forum generally dislike both religions tbh

Uhhh, so 20% of the population is transgender?? Why you lying??

Fun fact: Sex reassignment operations are also allowed in Iran. I believe the government even covers 50% of the cost. This is so fascinating to me.

Here's a documentary about the subject:

the article explicitly mentions karma's concept as the reason transgenders are tolerated

yasss #halfbuddhistfamilyraisedpride #REPRESENTYO. That Christianity side is so uneccessery tho (but...). Anyways more than one religion bring better then the other, it's more about how Buddhism has no explicit guide/stance on this. The motto is to love all (like most religions) and really that's pretty much it. It has really no book that everyone explicitly follows and quotes from so it's easier for changing values to adjust to and be more open minded in that sense without going against ur faith.

Also I was expecting harsher comments tbh but so glad to see I was corrected.

not really, there is Tripitaka (Buddhism's bible) but no one but the monk reads it.

however, we like to conveniently bring up "Kalamasutra" a preaching of Buddha saying never believed in his words simply because it came from him, always pondered with you wisdom first.

the very essence of buddhism is Ariyasaccha which teaches that all suffering has reason(s), if you can find out the reason and resolve it, you'll be free from the suffering. at a more descriptive level, the core reason of suffering is "attachment". because changing is the nature of everything, (as portrayed by the wheel, a spinning piece) holding tight onto something will eventually lead to suffering. if you can let it go, the suffering goes.

this is why buddhism is timely called the most scientific religion.

"No book that everyone explicitly follows" = "no one but the monks read it". I basically said the same thing lol. And I know all that XD not only did I take Global (lmao) but I also came from a half Buddhist family (ik confusing) that has the tapestries of the three dudes with Buddha in the middle in their living room ffs ;D Tho Buddhism also defers from place to place as it gets influenced by the culture around it (like all religions) but the core of it (ariyasaccha, etc.) is still the same so maybe what I've learnt from what my family is different then what u have learnt but I think we are talking about the same stuff lol ;3

wow I just watched this whole thing. It was extremely sad. At first I was glad over what was being done but along the way they made it perfectly clear that a lot of it wasn't a choice, there were legitimately homosexual forced to become transexual in order to get their rights. Messed up.
