This album's amazing.

I really hope she performs at awards show, idk if she's still blacklisted after that performance with Justin a decade back, if she is, that's really dumb af.

Talk about mysoginy. Lenny Kravitz getting praise for showing his dong by accident and it's Janet who's banned for showing a mere nipple.

It's her best album since "All For You".

Unbreakable is an amazing song with beautiful harmony that Janet is known for, it sounds like a Jackson 5 song.

Burnitup! although it does sound a bit dated is still a fresh and funky.

Dammn Baby is a lot more current and lyrically is not what most people would assume it would be about but is more about Janet moving to her own beat.

The Great Forever is excellent as well and sounds like Michael's "Leave Me Alone" but more updated, the bridge is very pretty and has a random sneeze while Janet says "bless you". Lyrically, it could very well be about equality of love for the LGBT community.

Shoulda Known Better seems to take inspiration from U2 with it's guitar sound, and is one of the highlights on the album and is lyrically somewhat of an answer to her idealistic ideology in Rhythm Nation. She sings "Part of the revolution, ready for real solutions, we don't accept excuses, we tolerate no abuses".

After You Fall is a beautiful and somber piano ballad.

Broken Heart Heal is another favorite of mine and is the definition of nostalgia, lyrically it's about her brother Michael and her reminiscing on their time as young kids together, the outro and harmonization is really really beautiful.

Night sounds like something from Disclosure or just a loungy electronic song similar to 2008's "Rockwithchu" but less busy. It honestly sounds like a track from Kylie Minogue's "Fever".

No Sleeep is great in it's transition from Night to this song. Janet's signature stormy rain sound effects and it perfectly captures her more sexy or sensual songs.

Dream Maker / Euphoria is another great song and reminds me of a mix of Jill Scott and Diana Ross especially the spoken word.

2 B Loved sounds like "Daybreak" from 20 Y.O. but I like "Daybreak" better.

Take Me Away is another highlight and has elements of Asian, Native American sounds with guitar. Very very catchy song and perfectly captures escapism.

Promise is a very pretty interlude that has Latin elements.

Lessons Learned is a folksy song and sounds like something from Joni Mitchell. Similar to Janet's cover of Joni's "The Beat of Black Wings". Janet sings about domestic abuse in this song.

Black Eagle is another beautiful song and lyrically seems to be a metaphor for something. It first starts off about The Black Eagle then eventually leads to people needing to treat everyone "better" and to lend a helping hand to others. This song could also relate to the LGBT community or anyone who's felt like an outsider for that matter.

Well Traveled sounds very current and on trend with it's "Ayo!" chants. She sings about the world and beautiful places, races, etc. and love from all of these people. Basically a song about wanderlust.

Gon Be Alright I don't really care for but is a good song. Critics and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis described the song as Sly and the Family Stone along with the Jackson 5.

A very beautiful and sophisticated album that deals with themes of love, social justice, unity, equality, wisdom, etc. Production is amazing, vocally it's her best since...in my opinion, Control (obviously, Janet isn't really known for her vocals even though I've always felt she has great vocals on certain songs and has displayed a wide range of emotion in a lot of her songs) She displays a lot of sincerity and wisdom in this album 8/10 for sure.

Thank you for reading it. There's a lot more I could say about the album especially having been a fan of Janet's for awhile and having listened to everything from Control to the last album she released before Unbreakable, Discipline. She's inspired so many of the dance-pop performers of today and so many who take from her style without them even realizing it. From Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Namie Amuro, Crystal Kay, Boa, EXILE, etc. It's great to see that she decided not to follow the trend of the current girls out now and decided to make something that felt true and organic to her.
