[SBS] Official The Village: Achiara's Secrets Thread *Case solved*

I watched the third episode which is still not finished being subbed by Viki but I'm seriously annoyed...

I can't believe of all the scary murderous shit in this show, I'm supposed to be scared because a "man" is wearing women's clothing. The transphobia is sickening...

Woo Jae is a much better character than So Yoon, he actually feels like the main character in this story. So Yoon suffers from safe main character syndome where instead of taking the risk to make her interesting, they just create a boring and oblivious character who is nice to everyone so she never offends anyone.

So Yoon's transphobia pisses me off too.

So what if The Young Lady is probably a trans woman and is probably a bit weird? She's a fucking weirdo too like who is she kidding? She's playing nice with all these potential murderers but the one person who has been cleared of these crimes is the one that she's scared of.

Woo Jae is far from perfect too but his feels more out of ignorance. So Yoon is going out of her way to be an asshole towards The Young Lady and her fragility act isn't working with me. So what if they like to dress and look cute unlike her boring frumpy existence? Get over it. Move on. If she did that, she might have a chance at being half as interesting as Hye Jin.

The Young Lady isn't trans. He's a crossdresser who gets excited by people's looks of disgust. ngl, I was expecting much worse. I appreciate that they're trying to characterize him outside of being a "pervert", but their general attitude towards the crossdressing is really narrow-minded.

Also, isn't Soyoon scared of him because he's walnut guy? He chased her down in the first episode, and followed her for at least a day. I think she has reason to be wary.

I'm pretty sure that The Young Lady is trans but they just haven't outright stated it yet.

There was a talk between them and Woo Jae where they discussed therapy and it was mentioned that the therapy doesn't work. I think this show is more understanding of trans issues than we think if they know about reparative therapy and how useless it actually is. I'm not sure they'd know about the realities of reparative therapy and not know about trans issues to some extent. The Young Lady is a weird person but if you can barely make friends and everyone hates you and doesn't accept you, that's kind of natural sadly.

The only mentions of The Young Lady being a cross dresser or a pervert are from other people. Meanwhile the show is actually showing them investing Hye Jin's murder and trying to find justice.

Also weren't they just walking before So Yoon decided to drop her umbrella and run off because of paranoia? I always assumed The Young Lady was just trying to return the umbrella. Although after the day was over, I don't think they actually knew it was So Yoon. She can recognize the walnut sounds but The Young Lady doesn't know it was So Yoon at the bus stop.

i don't think So Yoon is afraid of him because he's a trans or a bit weird

do you remember when she first arrived in achiara and a guy followed her?she thinks the guy is agashi

But Young Lady was in jail when another woman was attacked and murdered right? I'm sure So Yoon knows without a doubt that Young Lady was the one chasing her at the bus stop but she was the one who ran first and dropped her umbrella. I think Young Lady was trying to just return it because all they were just both walking minding their own business when she decided to act paranoid.

I get that not all of it is transphobia but she's being a bit rude. Young Lady hasn't wronged her in anyway and So Yoon was the one going into people's houses and attacking them when they weren't even threatening Yoon Na.

In the fourth episode though, Woojae asks The Young Lady why he does is it, and he says it's for the sexual thrill. He also says that Hyejin is special, which I take to to mean that he liked her in a romantic sense. I could be wrong, of course, but I don't think it's fair to say he's transgender just because he crossdresses. The two aren't mutually exclusive. And there are therapy options for both.

As for Soyoon, somebody rolled a walnut towards her the day after she got chased by a guy she knows only through the walnut-rubbing. Whether that was The Young Lady or not remains to be seen, but I think she's perfectly justified in being scared of someone who might have been stalking her. Though yeah, she could afford to treat him a little better now that he's been cleared of all charges.

They'll probably interact a little after Soyoon realizes that Hyejin is her sister. I hope she loosens up then.

I interpreted things differently.

Woo Jae asked The Young Lady why he dressed as a woman and he said something like "You don't understand it until you try it". Taking the entire conversation into account, I think The Young Lady is probably a trans woman, but doesn't fully understand it. He scares women as a defense mechanism because he believes (and is probably right) that he'll never truly be accept as a woman in Korean society. I guess it's better to be hated than bother for acceptance and be denied it? I also think his fascination with Hye Jin comes out of envy for her since she is a woman who can fully express herself.

I think whoever wrote this show threw the labels of "pervert" and "murderer" onto Young Lady at first to dispel myths later on in the series. There's a very thin line between being a crossdresser and trans. Many drag queens transition after they start to realize why they enjoyed wearing women's clothing so much.

So Yoon is becoming a much more interesting character lately. They played up that innocent act too much earlier and while I don't think she's any less innocent, at least she's starting to get more courageous instead of letting everyone walk all over her.

Has anyone watched the latest episode?? I watched it raw and I really need the eng sub [emoji24]

-the senior police was suspended?? ill miss him and woojae tandem [emoji24] But I hope this will give way for Woojae to mature more and be the cool policeman he always wanted to be..

-Before sunbae left he spilled the secret info about the murderer to woojae. .so the murderer always leave a Wallnut inside the victim's body... Fucking Wallnut!! And the cliffhanger in the ending... Noooooo!!! I dont want Ahgassi to be the murderer... Im really warming up to his character.. I hope there'll be a twist next episode [emoji24]

The other guy is Aghassi's brother, right?

Maybe the walnuts is something that both of them picked up when they were children. The brother was shown to be hiding something and he pointed out that he had a wife and kids but for what reason? Was he trying to prove that he's not longer a rapist because he finally settled down? Aghassi was in jail the last time someone was murdered by the serial killer.

The woman had already been running from someone by the time Aghassi found her, so maybe the brother is getting caught attacking women. The serial killer seems to have moved around the country a lot which Aghassi's brother seems to have been able to do. I definitely think he's the killer and Aghassi is trying to stop him.

I think Ahjussi is linked to Hyejin, not to the serial murder case. Ahgassi is not his brother, just a friend or an acquaintance I think. But he knows something that we don't.

The cliffhanger is horrible, I am one of those who believe Ahgassi is a good person.

On a side note, Woojae was cool these 2 episodes! Sungjae totally immersed in his role, that's nice to see.

I think Ahgassi is innocent too.

Ahjussi looks like the serial rapist and murderer to me though or else Ahgassi wouldn't have found the lady that was being attacked so easily. Maybe they picked the walnut thing up from somewhere or Ahjussi might be trying to frame Ahgassi, but he doesn't know Ahgassi was at the police station during one of the murders.

I also just found out Sungjae was an idol yesterday. I remember hearing about an idol being in this show when it first started but I had no reason to bother checking since everyone seems to be doing a fine job. Woo Jae is a great character and the scenes between him and his partner are probably my favorites, the characters and the actors work perfect together. I especially like how they're continuing the investigation no matter what. It happens all the time in detective dramas but I still find it awesome every single time lol.
