Just finished the first episode. Spoilers up ahead!

  • those foreign extras were so... extra, lmao
  • pretty much everyone except for Woo Jae, So Yun and the little girl are giving off major creeper vibes
  • am I right to assume that the girl who had that affair is the skeleton in the forest?
  • So Yun's paranoia is a little odd to me. Make me wonder if there's something more going on with her.
  • The music use in the drama is pretty spot on. I start getting chills every time they play that theme.

Just finished episode 3&4!

Everyone's still shady af (not that I'd want it any other way, lol)

  • I think Gayoon is the assemblyman's child.
  • That part with Gayoon's mother is confusing. Did she get hunted by the serial killer?
  • Jisook and Kihyun are in cahoots about something. Idk what it is, but I'm not buying that they just got close.
  • Kihyun was probably also working with Hyejin to bring his family down. He's not the killer (too obvious), but I think he was involved in whatever it was that got her murdered.
  • Woojae is such a cutie pie! tbvh, I though Sungjae was being a little hammy last week, but he seems to have hit his stride with the last episode. He's like a little ray of sunshine in the dark abyss that is Achiara.
  • I thought they said no lovelines? But Woojae seems to like Soyoon now.
  • I'm very sure that Hyejin's murderer and the serial killer are different people, both of whom live in Achiara.
  • Are we choosing to ignore Yoona's ability to see the dead? I was thinking that there'd be a supernatural aspect to the show, but I guess not.

Anyway, the show keeps getting more and more interesting! Can't wait for next week!

  • 2 weeks later...

yes I am a bit annoyed by So Yoon's naiveness too. I mean she was so paranoid at the beginning that she should have come to the conclusion that Hye Jin might be her sister sooner.

I also don't like the fact that she blindly trusts all the people in the village despite the fact that all the people in this village seem to be creepy.

I wonder what Yoona's last dream means. Is the nail a hint to what exactly happened to Hye Jin? Or whaat kind of meaning has this?

It's kinda funny though, cause she was super paranoid the first few episodes (I really thought she had something to hide), and now she's just ignoring signs left and right. I hope she becomes more proactive in the future. It's starting to feel like Woojae is the show's main character.

As for the nail, I feel like it's trying to tell us that Yoona's not making stuff up? Like, her parents are really pushing for the whole insanity angle, so maybe this is the show trying to tell us that she's unto something. But then again, girl is really troubled and not exactly a reliable narrator. The show could just be throwing us for a loop. I also wouldn't be surprised if that writing at the end was man-made as opposed to truly supernatural.

My theory so far:

I feel like Gayoung's mom is Hyejin's birth mother. She was raped by the serial killer, but managed to get away before he finished the job. Mom couldn't deal with having a rape child, so she gave Hyejin up for adoption. My guess is that the person who assaulted her is someone rich and influential, and Assemblyman Seo and his family tried to off Hyejin (via car crash) 1) get rid of the scandal and 2) to gain political favors.

Years later, a nearly insane Hyejin comes back to Achiara and reconnects with her mother. They decided to take revenge. But along the way, Hyejin gets offed. If it's not her coming back from the dead to take revenge, then it might be Gayoung's mom or her baby daddy (since she was probably pregnant).

In any case, this is all super far-fetched. If even a tenth of this is true, imma pat myself on the back, haha. But if Hyejin turns out to have the same birthmark that Gayoung does (I hear they're sometimes hereditary?), then I'll take that as a sign that they're related.

No idea wtf Joohee and Gunwoo are up to. Creepy couple is creepy.

Also, police sunbae is probably shady. Why else would they mention that he's been away for 15 years?

Anyway, feel free to poke holes~ Anticipating next week!

Woo Jae is a much better character than So Yoon, he actually feels like the main character in this story. So Yoon suffers from safe main character syndome where instead of taking the risk to make her interesting, they just create a boring and oblivious character who is nice to everyone so she never offends anyone.

So Yoon's transphobia pisses me off too.

So what if The Young Lady is probably a trans woman and is probably a bit weird? She's a fucking weirdo too like who is she kidding? She's playing nice with all these potential murderers but the one person who has been cleared of these crimes is the one that she's scared of.

Woo Jae is far from perfect too but his feels more out of ignorance. So Yoon is going out of her way to be an asshole towards The Young Lady and her fragility act isn't working with me. So what if they like to dress and look cute unlike her boring frumpy existence? Get over it. Move on. If she did that, she might have a chance at being half as interesting as Hye Jin.

The Young Lady isn't trans. He's a crossdresser who gets excited by people's looks of disgust. ngl, I was expecting much worse. I appreciate that they're trying to characterize him outside of being a "pervert", but their general attitude towards the crossdressing is really narrow-minded.

Also, isn't Soyoon scared of him because he's walnut guy? He chased her down in the first episode, and followed her for at least a day. I think she has reason to be wary.

I'm pretty sure that The Young Lady is trans but they just haven't outright stated it yet.

There was a talk between them and Woo Jae where they discussed therapy and it was mentioned that the therapy doesn't work. I think this show is more understanding of trans issues than we think if they know about reparative therapy and how useless it actually is. I'm not sure they'd know about the realities of reparative therapy and not know about trans issues to some extent. The Young Lady is a weird person but if you can barely make friends and everyone hates you and doesn't accept you, that's kind of natural sadly.

The only mentions of The Young Lady being a cross dresser or a pervert are from other people. Meanwhile the show is actually showing them investing Hye Jin's murder and trying to find justice.

Also weren't they just walking before So Yoon decided to drop her umbrella and run off because of paranoia? I always assumed The Young Lady was just trying to return the umbrella. Although after the day was over, I don't think they actually knew it was So Yoon. She can recognize the walnut sounds but The Young Lady doesn't know it was So Yoon at the bus stop.

In the fourth episode though, Woojae asks The Young Lady why he does is it, and he says it's for the sexual thrill. He also says that Hyejin is special, which I take to to mean that he liked her in a romantic sense. I could be wrong, of course, but I don't think it's fair to say he's transgender just because he crossdresses. The two aren't mutually exclusive. And there are therapy options for both.

As for Soyoon, somebody rolled a walnut towards her the day after she got chased by a guy she knows only through the walnut-rubbing. Whether that was The Young Lady or not remains to be seen, but I think she's perfectly justified in being scared of someone who might have been stalking her. Though yeah, she could afford to treat him a little better now that he's been cleared of all charges.

They'll probably interact a little after Soyoon realizes that Hyejin is her sister. I hope she loosens up then.
