Okay I'll talk about The Village in general first before I write my theories for the current episode.

As a fan of crime drama, series and horror movie, I'm kinda disappointed on how the police did their job. The way Sungjae handling the evidence was so unprofessional. Like, you just put the evidence on your table, near the counter and look for the finger prints instead of bringing it to the lab. and the script writers didn't elaborate the scene properly too. Seems like the writer didn't bother to look up and do some research on how the police works before writing the script.

The story moving slow for me and didn't really tell story of the characters well. All characters just all over the place.

Now for my theories.

1. I think the pharmacist planned the whole thing to have a revenge on what happen to her mother.

2. Kihyun have a feelings towards Jisook before.

3. The agasshi might know about who kill Hyejin, but he still hasn't realize it yet.

4. I think the one that related to Hyejin is Gayoung's mother.

5. The art teacher is the serial killer but he acted like that under the pharmacist's order.

I still going to continue watching this drama because finally these kind of drama exist in public channel.

In my country, there's only a forensic lab in each city but the capital city (where there are a central lab and a metropolitan lab separately) and usually in such minor cases, the forensic officers won't be get involved, unless the plaintiff requests. do you seriously think evidences of every cases will be forwarded to the forensic lab? no way.

not every police officer are knowledgeable in forensic science and each country has different level of development in this scope. 2 year ago in my country, there was a murder on the beach and netizens were shocked how local officers left foot prints all over the scene before the forensic experts arrived and properly took photos.

Geonwoo, the art teacher, possibly is not the serial killer, it was speculated that the serial killer was about as tall as the victim, so it's probably a woman.

I find Ahgassi cute too xD He has very innocent eyes and I like his smile.

Did you guys read dramabeans' recaps? She basically summed up my thoughts.

I think Jisook, Joohee and Hyejin are half-sisters.

I'm curious about the baby Jisook supposedly aborted. Was it because it was a baby girl? I don't remember clearly when you know a baby's gender (3 months of pregnancy?), but what about the abortion limit period?

you may end the pregnancy at any period of pregnancy but it'll get harder after 3rd month i believe. many chinese get abortion after knowing the fetus is female.

those who watched ep 10 must have seen about "Fabry disease". I was curious if that inherited disease causes the red birthmark, if Gayeong also affected from the same disease that she got a similar mark, so I googled.

"Fabry disease is an inherited disorder that results from the buildup of a particular type of fat, called globotriaosylceramide, in the body's cells. Beginning in childhood, this buildup causes signs and symptoms that affect many parts of the body. Characteristic features of Fabry disease include episodes of pain, particularly in the hands and feet (acroparesthesias); clusters of small, dark red spots on the skin called angiokeratomas; a decreased ability to sweat (hypohidrosis); cloudiness of the front part of the eye (corneal opacity); problems with the gastrointestinal system; ringing in the ears (tinnitus); and hearing loss. Fabry disease also involves potentially life-threatening complications such as progressive kidney damage, heart attack, and stroke. Some affected individuals have milder forms of the disorder that appear later in life and affect only the heart or kidneys."

"The incidence of Fabry disease is estimated to be between one in 40,000 and one in 120,000 live births."

"The mutated gene that causes the disorder is located on the X chromosome. Unlike other X-linked disorders, Fabry disease causes significant medical problems in many females who have one altered copy. The signs and symptoms of Fabry disease usually begin later in life and are milder in females than in their affected male relatives. Some females who carry a mutation in one copy of the gene never develop any of the signs and symptoms of Fabry disease."

and this is how angiokeratoma looked alike

hmm. the crew misunderstood about the symptom and meant to hint the 2 were relatives as they inherited the same rare disease?

So far most of the obvious theories were revealed to be wrong. This 'birth mark' is probably a misleading hint too

my opinion is the red mark is a clue to another clue. it won't be as simple as either gayeong or gayeong's mom is hyejin's sister. my hypothesis is

- gayeong's symptom is weak because she inherits only one mutated x chromosome

- the mutated chromosome either comes from her mom or her secret dad. her mom looks healthy, so it's her secret biological father that ill

- the father is the one close to hyejin. he may not be her sibling nor father but biologically close to hyejin's mother.

Anyway, here are my other thoughts:

- I was right, Nam Geonwoo and the lumber mill man (Mr. Nam) are related.

- it's confirmed that Gayoung and Hyejin are sisters from different mothers. I think Gayoung's mother was raped by the serial killer (remember her flashback several episodes ago) and gave birth to Gayoung.

- Their father could be Mr. Nam. So that would make them Geonwoo's sisters.

shouldn't mr, nam have very poor health if he's gayeong biological father? the symptom of fabry disease is far worse in men than in women. besides, how old is this mr. nam?  is he old enough to be the father of hyejin? hyejin's father must be 50+ year old. soyoon, our protagonist, is 28 year old (korean age?) and hyejin was 4-5 year older.

geonwoo repeated to gayeong that she must tell her mom about her symptom. he hinted that gayeong's mother would know gayeong inherited a serious disease by the symptom. didn't that mean gayeong's mother knew gayeong's father well enough to know that he was sick of the disease and how his symptom was?

like you've said, the writer liked to give us misleading clues, how he/she suddenly gave us an obvious clue is fishy. i can't believe yet that pilsung is a/the serial killer.
