There is some unfortunate news to report as Girls' Generation's Seohyun has revealed to her fans that her beloved dog Dubu (Tofu) is no longer with us.

She posted several photos and videos of her dog before announcing the news in both Korean and English, and it sounds like it was very hard for her to finally tell us.

She wrote:

To tell the truth.. I have some sad news that has been hard for me to tell you all... It took me a very long time to move on, but now it's time to relay the news.. A while back my baby dubu who I love so, so much left us for heaven.. Dubu was probably so happy to have received so much love from so many people.. I'm very thankful to everyone who liked and even loved Dubu.. Please pray that dubu has gone to a better place..^^

Those who have pets know that losing one is much like losing a family member, so we can't imagine the difficult time Seohyun and her family must have had. Make sure to express your condolences and show her some love on her Instagram.

Considering most idols buy 'teacup'/'mini' breeds, it's not surprising their dogs do not have long life-spans.

Not to mention their busy schedules, I doubt they have much time to spend with their dogs to begin with.

Honestly I don't know much about super small breeds, but I thought smaller dogs lived longer on average than large and giant breeds. Unless you're referring to the health problems that tend to crop up when people breed dogs to aggressively pursue a certain standard.

I'm referring to the latter. I've noticed a lot of idols have so-called 'teacup' dogs (which btw is not even a proper classification, but often used by these irresponsible breeders, for marketing/gimmicky purposes). I guess because they're smaller, they appear cuter, but many of these dogs are ridden with illnesses, due to irresponsible breeding to achieve that 'teacup' size. They're basically messing with what nature intended, often with dire consequences.

Some of the most notorious 'teacup' breeders are from South Korea. Majority of idols probably don't know and I wish there was more awareness around this.

Most proper small breed dogs obtained from reputable breeders and are well-looked after, should live up to at least 10 years old - often even longer (to 15-16 years).

Why the hell would she need to announce her dog has passed away in English

Becoz she has thousands of international fans like me (who can't read Korean) that adored her puppy Dubu so much.

She receives gifts for her puppy from fans most of the time. It must have been hard for her. Hope you are in a better place Dubu
