How would you react if someone told you your partner is too good for you?

Based on looks, wealth, academic skills, etc.

Also is it something that people can actually say if a boyfriend is richer than his girlfriend or not, for example? Have you said something similar to someone else? Is someone really better than someone else when it comes to being in a relationship with? *insert other relevant questions here*

Share your opinions.

keep in mind that I'm not talking about a boyfriend that beats his girlfriend or a woman who cheats on her husband, etc...

I can just use that as excuse to break up when I'm tired of her hole

already had it happen

but not exactly like that.

my partner told me i was too good for her <.<

She's probably a very insecure person. I also do think other people are too good for me but I have self esteem issues.

I think people should realize that if they are dating the "person who is too good for the other" clearly does not think like that and they have zero rights to make such rude comment based on superficial factors like wealth and looks.

I also think it's stupid when people tell others that they should date within their standards -.-

I heard alot of times that kpop fans say Lee Hyori's husband is too ugly and that Hyori is too good and popular for him. They're not on the same level blablabla bullshit

I don't think such opinions really matter.

What if Hyori likes him for his manners and that he respects her? Maybe her husband is a sweet and nice guy.

Maybe she sees something in him that others can't see. Maybe despite his appearance, he probably has a big heart when compared to hyori's past handsome boyfriends who were probably douches. These things counts and matters way more than wealth, looks, status, academic skills, etc.

Things should not only be evaluated based on the surface value--people need to look deeper into such things, avoid shallowness and stop assuming things.

With that in mind, the rest does not matter and we can't change people's mind.

A lot of people says my dad is not good for my mom, she's too pretty and bla bla bla but people forget the LOVE part.

There's no such thing like "too good for you".

This is like so common in k-pop that I can't even and one of the reasons why I made this thread.

Some people act like if they don't find a person attractive nobody else can and should.

I hate when people say *insert name here* can do better* or *insert name here* is way above his/her league. I think it's disrespectful as hell. It's basically saying that *insert name here* is a god and that the other person is trash. I would feel like shit. They're basically saying i'm below that person.

Actually this makes me laugh because my husband came to eat lunch with me at work but he had to wait because I wasn't quite finished watching my kids. There was a 2nd grade girl who kept going up to him and I kept having to shoo her away. Later he told me she was like grilling him with questions about who he was and then right before I shooed her away for the last time she goes, "You're too good for her."  It was funny but also kind of sad because she's way too young to even know that phrase which she probably heard from an older sibling or her mother.

Anyhow, to your question... I've never had anyone say it to me. I haven't seen people use it meaning they make too much or are too successful for their significant other. I've seen it used more in a diss at the person looks wise. For example, telling a girl or a guy you like who is taken that they are too good for their bf/gf/spouse is trying to put the idea in their head if they don't already think it themselves. Sometimes friends use it because they don't like their friend's bf/gf/spouse and want them to get rid of them for various reasons. It's pretty underhanded of them to say that to another person directly.
