Capcom, creators of Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Devil May Cry and others, supposedly has $152 million dollars left

Well according to this article, http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2013-09-10-capcom-looks-towards-big-changes-after-difficult-fy13

The part that everybody is talking about.

Capcom's annual report notes the sluggish performance of the all-important console market on several occasions, and it certainly isn't the only company to feel the negative effects of that slowdown. However its performance throughout this generation has rarely been more than solid, leaving it in a difficult position for the challenges ahead. At present, Capcom has just over $152 million in cash, which isn't much for a company attempting to navigate the costly transition to a new hardware generation and the company-wide implementation of a service-based infrastructure.

I'm not a business expert here, so if someone who knows this better, feel free to explain.

But if I'm reading this right, Capcom could go bankrupt soon. 152 million dollars is not a lot for a company of this size and if something doesn't happen soon it maybe fitting that in their 30th anniversary it could be their final year.

Of course this isn't the first time the company was in a bad state, during the 90's, they lost a lot due to putting out one too many Street Fighter 2 games. It wasn't until the 1st Resident Evil that it dug itself out of the hole. But now, I don't know. They done too many things to piss off gamers for the last few years, from on disk dlc to blaming fans for the fall of Mega Man, you could say they had it coming. Which is sad because I enjoyed a lot of their games.

Thoughts?

while i am supposedly supposed to feel bad for a big company falling..... i am also glad

aint nobody want a big monopoly anyway. break down the big companies so smaller and more innovative companies can gain prominence.

great studios like TEAM ICO and THATGAMECOMPANY can flourish.

If there is any game company that I truly want to go down, it be EA

FIFA fans will be coming for your head if they see you say that.

Anyways.. I think gaming in general is declining as of late... Especially with illegal downloading your games become so popular. I hope not.. I for one love having the physical copy and marveling at it's prettiness.

This is what they get for killing mega man

this might be like thq, and they're going to have to sell off their ips.

I'll be very curious to who will the ip's up if that happens.

I can see Nintendo at least taking Mega Man.

Didn't they already take Mega Man...?

(They've also released all the past Mega Man games on the virtual consoles).

Capcom still technically owns Mega Man. He's just a guest character for SSB

If you judge by how a lot of Mega Man titles been released on Nintendo, it seems most likely that they could take the Mega Man ip if should Capcom has to.

HEY I WANNA GO TO EA , THEY..... UNDERPAY ARTISTS

lolololol

EA, the KKS of the videogame world.

it would suck if they can't get out of this. It's already sad to see where Sega is right now.

Interestingly enough I heard Sega has done better, at least I heard they made profits on their games.

In capcom's case, they gonna need to stop with their dlc practices. Scale back on marketing, at least for big titles. They can sell on name alone.

That would be sad, if only for the history of the company, however past success doesnt guarantee future success so I hope they can find a new lease of life. One thing im not clear on is how many of their hit games were actually made by a capcom team ? or is it a smaller company that works under the capcom name ? I.E if they were to go under would the same people still make Resident Evil or Street Fighter and just releqse it under a different company or would it be sold off cimpletely ?
