That Lara Croft is the most iconic female heroine throughout the years that shape the gaming industry.


 


True that Lara Croft was first seen as a sex symbol thanks how the game designers designed her.


That brought her an advantage, gaining massive fanbase or massive interest. With that advantage along with the adventure puzzle game. The genre, concept and the gameplay. 


 


Tomb Raider Franchise was born.


The game itself made a history. Despite how much of sex symbol it was, she change how the video industry were today. She was seen as the fearless heroine with little or no back ground. It was all about action, adventure and fighting back then. Easy enough to get people hooked into. Many would spend hours playing the game.


 


As years pass by, Tomb Raider franchise continues to make impact breaking into guinness world record.


Lara Croft now, the name itself holds a strong brand. 


 


Now Tomb Raider franchise with their 2013 Reboot which took a complete turn still continues to make an impact. She seems to be more real, more relatable with a background story and of cus keep in touch with killing people. Lots of gaming industry are looking forward to what “Rise of tomb raider†will bring to the table since 2013 reboot was a huge success. Risky but a huge success.


 


With how a Lara Croft impacted the gaming industry, now we see many female lead title games. Such as


“Remember Me?†“Mirror Edge†“Silent Hill (Heather Mason)†“Last Of Us (Ellie)†“Life Is Strange (MAX)â€.


 


Till today some gaming industry doesn’t accept or still doesn’t believe that female lead protagonist doesn’t make any impact in game world.


 


We need more female lead games!

Yup. She paved the way for heroines in an industry dominated by male protagonists

 

 

(even though she was basically targeted at teenage boys)

TEENAGE HORNY BOYS which are now mature horny fans…which will slowly be taught by lara Croft to think maturely and stop objectifying women as sex objects.

They're going to make a movie about it...

 

...and Ellie will be portrayed by Maisie Williams. D: *fanboys hard* *fanboys harder*

Seriously? A movie about Ellie? 

That sounds pretty risky.. considering that she just started out with one franchise… they should make more Ellie Spin off franchise to stabilise fanbase before making a movie tbh

Though honestly I don't like the trajectory either character took, Samus was the BOSS until Other M fucked her up, I don't like the new Lara Croft's personality at all, or her new games.

 

But they are both very impactful.

I personally get why people don’t like the new Lara… I liked both tho… One is mindless fighting.. the other has a story to tell + action and fighting too. I have nothing to lose tbh.

 

Her or Samus.... or Princess Peach  :lol:

Princess Peach was make impact in mostly fighting games.. other than that. she is stuck in the castle for her boys to save her. LOL..

Every family has the screw up. Other M is the family shame of the Metroid series.

I personally get why people don’t like the new Lara… I liked both tho… One is mindless fighting.. the other has a story to tell + action and fighting too. I have nothing to lose tbh.

 

Princess Peach was make impact in mostly fighting games.. other than that. she is stuck in the castle for her boys to save her. LOL..

 

The old Tomb Raider had minimal fighting actually, and it was the opposite of mindless, it was mainly puzzles and platforming, and required a lot of thought,  this new one seems very Uncharted-like, but with less charm, I'm not saying it's bad, but after playing the old games again, I just miss the old games~ saying that though, my comment was about her personality as well, like I don't like how mopey and depressed she is in the new games, the old games weren't as story focused but she seemed much more confident and fun. Ah well.

 

Princess Peach is also starting to playable in the main games~ She was a playable character in the last Mario Platformer~ Super Mario 3D World, she was also playable in Super Mario RPG and Super Mario Bros. 2 which were awesome games, but yeah she's mainly the damsel in distress~ She isn't a great female lead or anything, but I recommend everyone check the the games I listed though, they're awesome.
