[Soompi]Red Velvet Takes 5th Win on “M!Countdown,� iKON Fans Demand Clarification of Chart System

Red Velvet took home their fifth trophy for “Dumb Dumb†on this week’s Chuseok special of “M!Countdownâ€!

This week’s episode of the music show introduced viewers to a variety of songs suitable for your holiday travel playlist and a karaoke night with the family. While no live performances aired today, this week’s winner was announced at the end of the episode.

 

Red Velvet greeted viewers through a pre-recorded video message, and the win came as surprise even to the girls themselves. They thanked their fans and family members for all the love and support, and finally wished everyone Happy Chuseok Holidays.

 

Soon after the winner announcement, â€œM!Countdown†was flooded with questions and complaints from fans of iKON, who were rather upset to see that “My Type†was excluded from this week’s chart despite topping music charts for the past week.

A representative of “M!Countdown†explained to Sports Donga, “Our chart is a music show chart, not a regular music chart. Due to this, our chart tends to include songs that are promoted on music shows. iKON, who is not promoting their pre-release track ‘My Type’ on music shows, was thus ruled out.â€

 

“There are cases where we include artists that never promote their songs or are unable to promote due to an overseas tour, for example, in the chart after negotiating with their agency. We apologize for causing confusion. We will give careful consideration to matters regarding the chart system also in the future.â€

 

Fortunately, this chart controversy has not caused any notable conflicts between fans of iKON and Red Velvet, and the complaints have been mainly directed at the producers of “M!Countdown.â€

mnet is never consistent ...they are always changing their rules.. they are a mess

 

so what they are saying is that they dont give awards if you are not promoting on their show?? lol so what about all the other ballad people that have not promoted on music shows but still won in the past. or even recently simon D or even hyukoh that has never performed on music show but mnet had them for #1 nominee... they didn't rule them out as contestants even tho they didn't win and it was infinite that won...but my point is they are silly for saying they completely disqualified or ruled out ikon because its a music show and only those promoting on music show qualify. sill and unfounded IMO.. nobody is saying that they should win... even i think they shouldn't but what they are complaining about is that the disqualified their song from even being nominated anywhere on the chart... and they always magically change their rules whenever a yg act is coming back or promoting without fail everytime...lol

 

at least give reasonable excuses... even i think this excuse is laughable as a neutral person
