You may have noticed recently that Shinee members have been getting a number of solo projects on the side (Taemin solo albums, Jonghyun solo albums + concert + everything, Minho's multiple acting projects, Onew's...?), but do you think it's time for them to focus fully on their solo careers instead of the group?

 

The Shinee brand isn't as strong as it was back in 2009, seeing by how quickly their recent repackage fell from the charts, but I see greater success for the members if they were separated instead. What do you think? :unsure: :unsure:

No. Even though I've loved seeing JongHyun and Taemins solo careers, nothing beats OT5. They still have a lot to give as a group and seeing how SM is letting them have solo careers while maintaining the group I see no reason for disbandment.

Ehhh... I understand what you're saying... I believe that they are loyal to each other and that they are emotionally connected to SHINee, but I also understand that all five have the ability to have separate careers... SHINee is a great gift, but I also understand that it can be also a chain that prevents them to fully satisfy their individual desires... Anyway, right now, the existence of the group is not a problem... In fact, the reputation and respect that they have as members of SHINee is an useful ally in the pursuit of their dreams... Probably the turning point of SHINee will be their compulsory military service, but until then I don't see a disbandment or problems caused by their individual careers...

I don't understand this. If not for group activities, wouldn't they have more time devoted towards flourishing their solo careers? They can't be stuck as Shinee forever. Of course they'll want their own names.

Of course they can't be Shinee forever, but there is nothing wrong with having solo activities amongst group activities.

 

Imo it's best for groups members to make individual names for themselves while they're still together so they can still gather fan and public interest.

no, that excuse would work for groups who are so desperate for relevance that they keep coming back over and over again so the members have no time to pursue their own interests, but groups who are well stablished have the time to release one album each year and do whatever hey want individually during the remaining months
