you know your fave is huge in japan when they debut at #1 with a mediocre song

debuting at #1 on oricon doesn't mean much. they didn't have the competition.

I wish jype just stopped promoting them in japan, their promo is half assed anyway. They squeezed one week of promo before korean comeback.

And it's quite likely they won't get no.1 weekly either. This is Tackey&Tsubasa's week.

While I agree that it doesn't mean much since it's a low week, I cannot say they half assed their promo, cause if we follow this logic, every artist in Japan half ass their promos...

Promos for idol groups in Japan usually work this way; some magazines appearance, a few live events during the release week, a high touch/hanshake event and for the some mid popular group invitations at Music Japan and such (max 3 music shows and only for one week), for the bigger groups (like the 48s, EXILE and Johnny's groups) Music Station invitation. Even Morning Musume who has been selling over 100 000 copies for 10 singles often don't really get invited to Music Station and C-ute was only invited there once rencetly, while the rest of the H!P groups never set food over there. Some groups will be invited to a few radio shows and some idol shows (there aren't many and but those are usually for domestic groups only, not foreign groups).

That's why it's easy to release in Japan and make quick money without tiring the group. And why groups can release 3 to 5 singles a year plus an album. You won't see any Korean group promote much more than GOT7 is and trust me, that's not half assing. The system is just different from Korea

the Japanese guy who interviewed them said GOT7 is a very popular group in Japan, and considering that they're coming back to Japan often, I believe it's true.

GOT7 debuted #1, and that's good.

lots of people here say that Japan don't care too much to KPOP, so he fact that they as a Korean group have debuted at #1 on Oricon is sth to celebrate. It's funny how much people praise their bias to top Oricon, when it's GOT7 "oricon is not important"

groups are praised for getting tons of awards during empty houses in Korea, so why not congratulating GOT7?

Who cares. They still debuted at #1 which is amazing for a rookie group

So you don't care that they won't get no.1 weekly? Okay then. :)

And I was wrong too, totally forgot that SEKAI NO OWARI's single will be out on the 25th, so weekly ranking will most likely be #1 SNO #2 T&T #3 GOT7. Hey top 3 still not too bad for a Kpop group I guess.
