SM officially files lawsuit against Tao for promos in China. Case submitted to Beijing court

Has SM noticed that this hasn't worked the last 100 times they've tried this method? Their lawyers must love their pay.

Well, are they actually losing when it happens, or do they end up settling in some kind of way? Because if it's the latter then they probably know they'll get some sort of money from the other party either way, and it may end up being more of a statement than actual intentions to fully win. SM's resources and money is going to be larger than the other party, so they can afford to deal with the lawsuit, whereas the other party will end up losing a few dollars from it.

Are they even doing this for practical reasons like winning the case? I feel as though SM is just doing this for media-play with their image as a company to the SK entertainment industry. Eventually SM is just going to release ''groundbreaking'' articles about the case with little to no content on the actual progress and just the usual ''SM is unbeatable, our artists can't get away with this'' platitudes. And it actually works, I guess, because the industry, media, k-netz, and fans alike eat all of it up.

why do they even bother? they are not going to win this at all! haven't they learned anything by now?! o.O

It's for image purposes. Them suing the ones who sued them makes people think they're in the right because a lot of people don't dig deep enough to know these lawsuits are basically useless in China.

In most cases, it's more of a statement and almost a threat to other companies that wish to work with the artists that leave. They seem to lose more than they gain in this instance, unless they only care that they have the general Korean public on their side.

What I find more interesting is that they usually pick thursdays to release some sort of drama with the company. Having this out on a Tuesdays is surprising lol

It gives them enough stock trading days hopefully to recover from negative news if their stock price has been hit on Monday before end of trading week on friday.

Forget about signing on as an idol with SM; being SM's lawyer is where the money's at! :hehe:

good point, lawyers get paid no matter if they win a lawsuit or not ...

anyway, this was bound to happen. Any company  protects their interest.

what I found a bit strange is that Tao filled a lawsuit after 4-5 months since his leaving. ( After so many months without any news about trial,  I though they will part way amicably, but it seems I was wrong, they didn't reach an agreement)
