SLY Reaction (Episodes 1 & 2)

So far, I am liking what i have seen. But this edition of SLY reaction is also to point out flaws and potential flaws of the drama, as well as the points I love.

Kang Yeondoo
This girl is on fire!!! I really love everything about her. Her personality, everything is just really likeable. And Jung Eunji is indeed doing justice for the role of Yeondoo. She is confident and strong hearted and that is what I like about her.

Ha Dongjae
KBS is doing the 2nd lead bad works again. How can they make Dongjae very likeable?! I can already hear the shrieks of horror when Yeondoo and Kim Yeol ends up together. He is just more likeable (by a mile) than Kim Yeol. His personality is cute and at the same time funny yet mysterious. He is such a great person. And im not going to mention how Hakyeon is doing wonders for his role. I am intrigued by the "physical disability" of Dongjae that Yeondoo mentions. I think it is his inability of interaction? He can't push forward during the basketball game. And he looked so out of it when he saw Hajun laying down with blood. Perhaps is this a trauma? A mental disorder? Or just simply his personality? Idk. I am really liking his scenes with Yeondoo. His "Always for Yeondoo Only for Yeondoo" character is so cute but worries me at the same time. 2nd lead syndrome too strong!!! I hope that KBS unravels more story (and screentime) for Ha Dongjae! Definitely the most interesting character yet.

Kim Yeol
This guy is giving me mixed opinions. There are times he looks cute, there are times I am just irritated to him. And this is not because I want HakJi. He is just creepy. One time he was flirting and kisses Yeondoo, then one time he is shouting his anger to her. Just what person are you? Sassy Go Go is not a mental drama to have 2 (or 3 if adding Dongjae) mentally challenged people. I just hope KBS gives him a better plot. I cant judge his acting tho. Wongeun seems great in acting but he looks awkward at times. But his smile kills me.

Kwon Sooah
Bitch. I can understand where she is coming from, but, bitch. She is still a bitch. Hahaha just joking. I feel really sad for Sooah. Honestly. She is getting all these pressure for her desperation of Harvard. I can understand her unlike Kang Soyoung of School 2015. Rather than Sooah being the bitch around, i want to curse her mother for being the real bitch. Please give the girl some air! Dont suffocate her! Please let her live normally. I know this streak wont end but I hope they give Sooah a nice closure. I want her and Yeondoo to be BFFs in the end.

Seo Hajun
Lastly, Hajun. I get mad of him getting angry easily but then i remember he has anger management disorders. And by that time i pity him. I dont know how his story goes though, but in my both theories, i just find him more pitiful. 1.) He is getting battered by his dad because he has anger management issues. 2.) He has anger management issues because of his father's abuse. Both are just sad. Thankfully, there is Kim Yeol. Being his brother, family, and friend. The bromance tho. >>>

Ending this, i seem delighted of the drama. Saying this as a HakJi shipper, i hope that they dont focus on YeolDoo. Instead i wish they pull off another Dream High 2! (In my dreams). Final rating of 9.5/10. I hope this drama surprises me and makes me happy in the future episodes!

In the verge of being my best drama of 2015.

I like your recaps Sly OP-nim, thank you

You're making references to School 2015 and I'm afraid to say that Dongjae is really just too likeable like Taekwang. Why KBS2, why?

This totally caught me off guard, I laughed so hard. I bet it was the same for everyone.

Thank you! I spend at least half an hour making those. Hahaha.

Yes. I was one of the biggest School 2015 spazzers and I loved it 200% before the ending. EUNBI SHOULD END UP WITH TAEKWANG.

Im afraid Dongjae will be another Taekwang.

Dongjae is just so likeable.

KBS2 please correct your mistakes in School 2015!!!!!

So I started watching this drama today and finished the two episodes in a flash :D

Lee Won Geun looks so cute! It's my first drama in which he is starring. No it isn't my first drama with him. I just remembered that he was in Kill me Heal Me <3

I also like Hakyeons character. I only wish that he won't fall for the mean girl or even ends up with her T_T

And also my darling Jisoo <3 I loved him in Angry Mom. This time he is playing an even more pitiful character.

I hope there won't be any suicides in this drama.

I want HakJi!!!

But i think Sooah and Dongjae will be a couple.

I liked these two chapters and luckily it's not a depressed thing like school 2015.

Yeon Doo is a cheerful girl who never gives up, i'm glad that despite the desdain she receives from techers and other school mates she stand up.

Kim Yeol, finally a male character who is not a bastard, I mean he likes to tease people but he is clearly a good person.

Kwon Soo Ah, I read in all post people hate her, well normal, she is a bitch, but I don't hate her, I feel sorry for her, look how is she being raised, I freaked when the mum used slideshows to show the students profiles, for a moment I thought I was in Mission impossible movie and not a kdrama,

She doesn't have friends and I think her world will crumble soon.

Ha joon, I think this will be the most dramatic storyline in drama, his dad is an fucking abuser, the principal is so low threating his friend with this, I could understand Soo Ah, she is a brat after all, but she is an adult, play with things like suicide is nasty.

Dong Jae, finally a pure friend and not romantically involved with the female lead, please don't turn him in a romantic interest, frinedships between man and woman are great and not always imply love.

This "I can't touch anybody" thing is not just a phobia, I think is a trauma, I think he saw somebody die, maybe his mother.

P.S: I read in some sites that maybe Dong Jae and Soo Ah become friends or something more, well I'm not against it, it's clear that she needs a good influence in her life and learn that grades are not everything, she is competely traumatized watching her rants.

P.S.2: I hope Kim yeol convinces Yeon Doo with the truth and not with bullshit "i like you"

It is already said that there will be terms of love between Dongjae and Yeondoo so the love triangle is born..

Im sorry i cant find the article.

SLY Recap (Episode 3)
(Via Dramabeans)

Yeon-doo uses Yeol’s counting trick to refuse his request to join the cheerleading squad with him: One, she doesn’t associate with people who go back on their word. Two, she won’t have anything to do with Kwon Soo-ah. Three (and by now she’s stepped right under his nose), she’ll never do cheerleading with him!

She tries to step past him, but Yeol slings her back by the wrist (argh) and yells that she has to do it. Yeon-doo threatens him with painful death until he lets her go.

Principal Choi makes a point to ask Ha-joon if everything is okay with him, since his father seemed worried during the last committee meeting. Ha-joon is subdued, but Yeol looks angry at the way President Choi makes it clear that he’s responsible for Ha-joon. And of course, part of their agreement for her not to tell Ha-joon’s father about his self-harm, is to make sure Yeon-doo and Real King join the cheerleading team. But when Ha-joon asks Yeol what’s going on between him and Principal Choi, Yeol just waves it off as nothing. He’s a good friend.

Yeol and Ha-joon witness a tense confrontation between Yeon-doo with Hyo-shik and Da-mi, and Soo-ah flanked by the Real King deserters Seung-woo and Kyung-eun. Soo-ah is all too happy to rub their switched allegiance in Yeon-doo’s face, inviting Hyo-shik and Da-mi to do the same and making it sound like Yeon-doo is holding them back on purpose. Hyo-shik basically tells Soo-ah to shove it, and Yeol smiles as they file past him.

Yeol approaches Soo-ah to ask her one thing — how did she bribe those Real King kids to join her side? She tells him that she didn’t have to, that they joined Baek Ho to avoid being kicked out of the dorms.

Yeol tries to talk to Yeon-doo again, but she’s in no mood and refuses. He gets a great idea, and accepts all the demerits he’s been getting out of (by virtue of being top of the class), then blatantly breaks rules for more demerits, just so he can get cleaning duty with Yeon-doo. Ha, his saucy little wink at her incredulous face is adorable.

Yeol makes it obvious he did this to get a chance to talk to Yeon-doo, but she still isn’t interested in listening. He swears he’ll change her mind in two hours, but Yeon-doo tells him that if he really wants to change her mind, to put real effort into their task (crushing empty milk cartons for recycling). That gives Yeol pause.

An hour into their punishment, Yeol isn’t any closer to convincing Yeon-doo as he’s nearly stomping on her hands and they’re moving at a snail’s pace. She shows him a way to crush the cartons faster, and they add a little song to it, eventually even having a bit of fun. Yeon-doo has to remind herself not to have too much fun, but Yeol grins that she’s softening up.

Hyo-shik joins them — oh no, he’s carrying his suitcase. He and Da-mi have both been kicked out of the dorms. Yeon-doo apologizes for not being able to help them, but sweet, loyal Hyo-shik puts on a brave face.

Yeol is surprised that Yeon-doo is just going to let her friends go like that, and she cries, “What do you want me to do?!†She knows that saying yes to the cheerleading would solve everything, but she would rather die than be used so blatantly. She bursts into wailing sobs.

Nearly an hour later she’s still crying, and awww, Yeol hasn’t left her side. Ha-joon calls to remind him that the dorms are being locked in five minutes, and he’s all, How about crying while you run? Hee.

They miss curfew and are locked out, but this is clearly not Yeol’s first time, as he whistles to Ha-joon to lower a rope. Yeon-doo calls a friend to let her in, but Soo-ah sees the call first and just lets it ring. Yeol offers to help her, but she’s too proud to ask for his help.

So he offers her three choices: One, get caught and be kicked out. Two, spend the night out here. Or three, accept his help. At first Yeon-doo declines again, but she has no real choice… “Oh, whatever!â€

They climb the rope together as Dong-jae nervously waits in the hall, wondering why Ha-joon hasn’t come out for inspection. They do inspection after midnight?? Anyway, he finally sees Yeon-doo climbing in the window and does his best to stall the teacher.

The teacher pushes his way in, and asks where Yeol is, and Ha-joon says he’s sick in bed. He IS in bed, under the covers with Yeon-doo — so when the teacher starts to pull back the covers, he whines that he’s feverish and cold as Yeon-doo clings to the sheets for dear life.

Luckily it works and the teacher leaves, but while they’re still under the covers, Yeol mutters a soft apology. He’s sorry for using Yeon-doo’s friends to try to convince her. He starts to go on but Ha-joon yanks the covers off them — Yeol watches Yeon-doo run out, looking like he still had something important to say.

Yeon-doo makes it back to her dorm in time, only to get a text asking her to meet Yeol in the laundry room. He says that this time he’s going to try telling a lie that sounds sincere. He says that if he can’t convince her, one of his friends will be done for — he has to do this cheerleading thing to protect his friend.

For Yeon-doo, her pride is her priority. But for Yeol, his priority is his friend. He understands how she feels, so he’s just letting her know… the decision is entirely up to her.

Yeon-doo tosses and turns all night, staring at her picture of herself with Real King. Yeol does the same, watching over a sleeping Ha-joon. He thinks of Yeon-doo crying that this is the last bit of pride that she has left, and that she’d rather die than be used, and it’s obvious that asking her to do this isn’t easy for him.

Yeon-doo calls Real King out in the middle of the night — even Joon-soo, the first to leave. She asks them all seriously: Can they live without Real King? She could live without dancing, but she can’t live without her friends. She asks them to reclaim Real King with her, which means joining the cheerleading team. Cheerleading or dancing, it doesn’t matter — what matters is doing it together.

The next day, all six of them march into the principal’s office to confront her about kicking some of them out of the dorms. Of course she denies it, citing a reason for each Real King member. Evidently, she caught them in violations then offered them a choice — leave the dorms, or join Baek Ho.

Yeon-doo tells Principal Choi that they choose to join Baek Ho, on the condition that she restores Real King if they win the regionals. Principal Choi agrees, and Yeon-doo whips out her phone — she’s got that on record, so she plans to hold her to it. Good girl.

Prinicipal Choi demands apology letters from each of them for barging into her office and misconduct, which they hilariously anticipated, and they lay their written-in-advance letters on her desk. HAHA, I love them.

Yeol catches Yeon-doo shouting encouragement to herself from the roof, though he teases that he’s seen her crying with snot and everything, so shouting is nothing. He thanks her for changing her mind, but when she asks if he can protect his friend, he reminds her that that was a lie.

An ominous thunderclap heralds the entrance of the Baek Ho students’ moms, as they arrive on campus to confront Principal Choi for using their children to help one student get ahead. Choi argues that this will help their kids’ college applications too, but the mothers won’t be mollified. They know this is all for Soo-ah, and plan to expose the principal.

None of them see someone taking a photo through the office window, and the photo is sent to the Education Office Civil Complaint Board, reporting about the school’s antics to give its students better specs.

Yeol’s dad takes Yeon-doo’s mom out for a fancy meal, although he claims there’s no special reason (so what’s the box in your pocket all about, sir?). He gives the waiter a nod to bring out a cake and starts to pull out the box, but the Baek Ho moms all come in just then and he nixes everything. He tells Yeon-doo’s mom to follow him and sneaks out, which she’s more than happy to do when she sees The Moms.

The moms are all here on invitation from Soo-ah’s mother and Director Lee, but they want to know how they plan to explain themselves for using their children. The truth is, the moms want their kids to benefit from this, as well, and Soo-ah’s mom warns that it could get serious if they get caught collaborating. On her drive home, one mom calls her to warn her about Principal Choi, who’s trying to dig up something on her — they should find something on the principal first.

But Soo-ah’s mom knows the other moms would betray her in a heartbeat, and has Director Kim call the cheerleading instructor to discuss a change of plans. It’s not just Soo-ah who’s to be in the spotlight, but all the Baek Ho members.

Said cheerleading instructor is currently sashaying her way across campus, followed by several salivating teenage boys. Teacher Yang approaches her, looking equally wolfish, until he sees her face. He points her to the principal’s office, looking shell-shocked (she’s not THAT bad, sheesh).

The first thing she does is identify the Baek Ho kids, then tells them all that they will be winning the regional championships in two months. Being the dancers, Real King will be in charge of the fancy footwork, while Baek Ho will shake their… pompoms.

Yeon-doo naturally protests getting stuck with all the hard work while Baek Ho gets the credit. But Instructor Nam makes it clear that this is what she’s being paid to do, so this is what will happen. After the meeting Yeon-doo tells Soo-ah that they aren’t here just to make her look good, but Soo-ah snipes that it’s not up to them.

Ha-joon asks Yeol what’s up with him and Yeon-doo, but Yeol plays it innocently, as if he just keeps running into Yeon-doo. He does admit that he owes her something, but he leaves poor Ha-joon confused about the details.

Soo-ah does worse than usual on the test, so to ease her anxiety, she finds her secret stash of cigarettes under a paving brick. But before she can light up she senses someone behind her, and turns to see Dong-jae.

She quickly flicks the cigarette into the hole left by the brick and tries to casually walk away, but earnest little Dong-jae just retrieves it and silently follows her. She rounds on him, and he just hands her the cigarette, insisting that it’s hers and looking hurt when she smacks it out of his hand. Awww, he’s so cute.

Dong-jae picks up the cigarette again, but Yeol asks if he can return it to its owner. He says he owes Yeon-doo a favor, and would like to repay her. So when he takes the cigarette to Soo-ah, she knows he wants something from her, and he asks if they can’t all work together on the cheerleading thing.

Yeon-doo sees them talking, and witnesses Yeol putting the cigarette into Soo-ah’s purse. Soo-ah storms off, but Yeol promises Yeon-doo that he’ll make sure that everyone works hard at cheerleading.

In class, Yeol claims his wallet is missing, so Teacher Yang orders everyone’s bags searched. Soo-ah remembers the cigarettes are still in her purse and shoots a glare at Yeol, who grins. Soo-ah freezes, seeming unable to make a decision, but just before the teacher gets to her desk Yeon-doo calls out that Yeol found his wallet. Yeol looks surprised, but Yeon-doo says she saw him put it in his pocket. He wants to keep up his power play but she begs him silently, so he agrees that he has it. Soo-ah looks white as a sheet, and sends Yeol a look of betrayal.

After class Yeol tells Yeon-doo that he was trying to help her by forcing Soo-ah to do cheerleading, and asks why she stopped him. She says she doesn’t like Soo-ah but she doesn’t want to handle things that way. Soo-ah overhears everything, and angrily rounds the corner to slap Yeon-doo.

Yeol tells her it was all his idea and Yeon-doo had nothing to do with it. Soo-ah congratulates Yeon-doo on getting everyone on her side, but threatens to start fighting dirty if they don’t stop provoking her.

When Soo-ah is alone, she remembers when she and Yeon-doo got along and Yeon-doo had taken her cigarettes away, and she’d told Yeon-doo that a friend of hers, who was first in her class, had committed suicide. It had made the national news, and her mother had told her that people only cared because the girl had been first in her class. If she’d been second, nobody would have noticed. Okay, that’s sick.

Yeon-doo had said that it doesn’t matter if people remember them, and all moms nag about grades. Of course, her own mom had heard that and given her a good-natured smack, then a thorough nagging for coming in nearly last-place in the school rankings.

Back in the present, Soo-ah crushes the box of cigarettes, and goes to meet with her mother.

Her mother tells Soo-ah that she’s gotten the coach, now it’s her job not to let her mother down. She berates Soo-ah for missing two questions on a test, and Soo-ah watches longingly while the Real King kids play rock-paper-scissors nearby.

Her mother just snarls at them — they may be having fun now, but someday they won’t even dare to look at Soo-ah. She forbids her daughter to associate with them, and to focus on studying.

Instructor Nam starts the kids off on physical fitness, and Soo-ah again looks on wistfully as the Real King kids clown around. The Baek Ho kids call their mommies to whine about the mean teacher, but the Real King team bounce back, already physically fit.

Soo-ah takes the opportunity to ask Yeon-doo why she stopped Yeol in class, and Yeon-doo says she knew the cigarettes were a bad memory for Soo-ah. When Soo-ah bristles, asking if Yeon-doo is pitying her, Yeon-do just sighs that Soo-ah is twisted.

Soo-ah says it would be nice if they didn’t care — then nobody would get angry or hurt. Yeon-doo only reminds her that she’s of a higher class, wondering why she feels so sorry for her. Soo-ah snarls that Yeon-doo can’t hurt her, but she’ll strike Yeon-doo where it hurts the most.

Later Soo-ah hands out some practice tests to Dong-jae’s basketball teammates, which Yeol overhears. He goes to Dong-jae’s next practice and sees Yeon-doo there as usual, cheering her friend on. But when a player grabs Dong-jae by the arm he reacts angrily, twisting away hard and momentarily freezing up.

He gets back in the game, and soon the other player tries to body-slam him, but this time Dong-jae moves away in time. Even their teammates notice they’re blocking Dong-jae too hard, and Soo-ah wanders near Yeon-doo and says she’s wondered why he was so averse to physical contact. Ah, she must have given the practice tests as payment to get the players to do this.

SGG3-00059.jpg
SGG3-00061.jpg

One of the players grabs Dong-jae and hold on tight, and Dong-jae’s world starts to spin. He passes out, which seems to shock even Soo-ah, and Yeol confronts her that this was her doing.

Soo-ah claims that Yeon-doo started it, twisting things and saying that Yeon-doo told Yeol to threaten her with the cigarette, but Yeol calls her on it. He says she’s picked the wrong person to hurt — she should be attacking him.

Dong-jae recovers quickly with a trip to the infirmary and a strawberry milk, and Yeon-doo breaks down crying. She apologizes, feeling responsible, but he reassures her that he’s perfectly fine now.

Soo-ah finds a quiet place and pulls up the article about her friend on her phone, asking her friend’s photo if she’s happy now. She says that she’s not happy, but she can’t stop now.

She sees Yeon-doo walking with Dong-jae, and stalks past them without a word. At her limit, Yeon-doo grabs Dong-jae’s basketball, whips around, and slams Soo-ah in the back of the head. She gets right in Soo-ah’s face, blocks a slap, and yells at her to take her on if she hates her so much.

tumblr_nw4gbt6flA1shity9o1_500.gif
tumblr_nw4gbt6flA1shity9o3_500.gif

She calls Soo-ah the worst kind of person, the kind who uses others’ pain against them. Despitre her earlier regret, Soo-ah just says that she warned Yeon-doo that she would strike where it hurts. She doesn’t care about others’ pain, but if Yeon-doo comes after the thing she cares about, she’ll die. Yeon-doo moves in very close to whisper that she doesn’t care if Soo-ah is a bitch, but she should at least act like a human being.

One of the Baek Ho girls hurts her wrist during a physical test, snapping at the instructor, and Soo-ah refuses to do this anymore. Instructor Nam offers her the door then, and the rest of Baek Ho (sans Ha-joon and Yeol) leave with her. So, back come the moms. They demand to know what happened, threatening to fire the instructor, but she’s furious and says she’ll just quit.

The Education Office gets the tip that the parents and the school are working together to build the kids’ specs, and send the representative to investigate. He walks right into the pressure cooker of mothers, students, and cheerleading instructor, and Principal Choi gulps nervously.

SLY Thoughts

Okay this episode was honestly depressing for YeonJae shippers. (We never had hope anyway). I just want Dongjae to have a great storyline ahead of him.
I love this episode tho. This is where everything starts! This episode is so great! I am liking the chemistry between WonGeun and Eunji. But more to it, I am LOVING how N improved soooo much in acting. It makes me look forward to his story.
Stilk hanging on to the hope of rimance between YeonJae but I am also wanting some Dongjae and Sooah. I want them to be close (hopefully not romantically) and Dongjae makes Sooah a normal person. Is that too much?
Anyway i loved episode 3. I already watched episode 4 so i will keep this short!!! 9.9999/10

(I had to put the poll about N in here because trolls will just invade the poll if i made a separate thread. People in this thread are actually cute and actually knows what to answer and are educated. Please have a happy vote!)

I'm so biased towards Hakyeon

I really hope Hakji to be a couple. I don't mind Yeoldoo, they are super cute. The parents' situation may be a problem though.

I think Hakyeon is doing great for his character. I really get the 4D and weird vibe from Dongjae, thanks to all his blank faces x)

My struggle tbh

can someone tell me whats wrong with hajoon? >_<

i guess i missed it because i skipped some parts :imstupid:

edit: the poll tho :imstupid: :har:

He has an anger management disorder. It is still unknown as to why he has it...

But he is shown to be battered by his father so i guess that gives a point.

The wine scene in episode 4 is so cute :chu:

Yeondoo gave the "grape extract" aka wine to Dongjae but he passed it onto Sooah because no one was giving her the drink. :chu:

And it also seems that there is another couple to look out for! Hajun and Sooah are also potentially cute together!

I feel sad for Sooah. :( But Hajun was cute.

SLY Recap (Episode 4)
(Via Dramabeans)

Instructor Nam laughs at the Baek Ho moms firing her — that ain’t happening, because she quits. But everyone else panics when Education Office reps march into the chaotic scene. He explains that they were tipped off about the school faking specs for their students, and asks what the parents are doing there. Principal Choi scrabbles for an explanation. Eyes lighting on a poster, she blurts that it’s because of the club’s performance in an athletics competition.

Soo-ah’s mom quickly supports the story, and the officer suggests it’d be fun to see it on TV. He introduces the reporter he brought with him, who’s doing a story about spec-generating schools, and wants Sevit to now feature as a model school for doing extra-curriculars right.

Principal Choi scrapes and grovels a bit more for good measure, which (unfortunately for her) results in the officer adamantly promising the Education Minister’s attendance. Haha.

Instructor Nam loudly pushes by. All the moms now hold onto her, fawning, and Principal Choi chortles that the whole firing this is a good joke. Nam takes advantage of her position and says she has one condition.

Principal Choi has another fit of shrieking and throwing things, panting at Nam’s audacity, while poor Teacher Im does his best to duck. It turns out that she asked for the authority to dole out penalty points — which the principal refused until Nam blithely shared that she’ll be off to give that reporter the interview he asked for about the school.

Meanwhile, the Baek Ho moms (don’t) enjoy a group mani-pedi where they try to plumb their connections for a way out. Soo-ah’s mom says one wrong move on their side could mess up every achievement their kids have amassed so far, so it’s best to stick to their word.

Principal Choi fumes at the presence of the reporter at school, speaking to the kids. She instructs Teacher Im to find out who sent the tip-off. She also says they’ll need a teacher to oversee the cheerleading club activities…

Instructor Nam lounges on the windowsill of the Baek Ho room, hooting with laughter at her manhwa. The Baek Ho kids ignore her to study, but the Real King kids watch her with curious disbelief. The period is nearly up, when Yeon-doo finally asks if they’re not going to practice at all. Nam’s just pleased it’s nearly time for her to finish, and gives the groups homework to find out more about each other, before twirling out.

Teacher Yang finds out he’s been appointed to oversee the cheerleading club. Smiling threat, the Principal reminds him that his contract is up for renewal soon. Ugh. Yang immediately asserts that he really likes cheerleading SO MUCH— She cuts him off to say that he’s only looking out for the Baek Ho kids, and he’d better not let Real King mess with them.

Yeon-doo curses and commiserates about Dong-jae being kicked out of basketball, even though he’s the team ace. She’s upset that it happened because of her, and he sweetly reassures her it’s fine and he’s okay.

Walking a short distance behind the pair, Ha-joon asks Yeol if he’s really interested in Yeon-doo. He grins that the more they cross paths, the more she piques his interest. Ha-joon points at them and wonders if it doesn’t then bother him that she’s so chummy with another guy.

In the school building, Hyo-shik and Seung-woo mock-fight with mops, when one smashes through the window. Outside, the four look up at the sound, and the missile heads directly for Yeon-doo. Dong-jae sees the danger, but Yeol shields her first, getting sprayed by a shower of broken glass.

Yeol’s cuts are treated in hospital, and Yeon-doo and Teacher Yang hover worriedly. They’re not serious, though, and Yeol excuses himself for the bathroom. Yeon-doo follows.

Huddled in a corner of his dorm room, sweat beads Dong-jae’s face. He replays the accident, distressed. He can’t get through to her on the phone, either.

Flashback. A little girl shimmies up a climbing frame, where little Dong-jae perches. She clutches his arm and cajoles him to play. Angry at her repeated entreaties, he pushes her away. To his horror, she falls right off. Later, he watches the girl lie unconscious in hospital, tears rolling.

Yeon-doo catches up to Yeol in the hospital lobby, and he asks if she’s cutting school, too. Surprised, she says came to thank him. At that, he’s in her face, grinning ear to ear — she’s so grateful that she wants to repay him, right? Yeon-doo: “I’m grateful, but not that much.â€

Cut to: Yeol stuffing his face (and boy is that a spread!) while Yeon-doo sorrowfully parts with her cash, gaping at his expensive taste. He’s not remotely apologetic, and she shakes her head at his ability to turn everything she says into a compliment to himself. But she’s alarmed when Teacher Yang rings. Yeol rejects the call for her — the basics for skipping school, he grins, strolling out.

They explore an indoor market, side by side. Yeon-doo stops at a snack stall and his eyes widen at the array of food. She pouts that she only paid for the food earlier. But looking queasy, he hauls her away. Lol.

They join a crowd watching an ahjumma dance-off, and the MC offers up a stereo to the winners. Yeon-doo immediately volunteers — she needs it for Real King! Yeol winces and tries to take her away again, but she’s already called onto the stage.

Yeol’s mortification slowly turns to enjoyment as he watches her solo dancing, and his cheeky grin creeps back. The MC says there’s something missing and calls on Yeol. He promises to give them the stereo right away if they do a couple-dance.

Now Yeol makes a break for it, but the force of nature that is Yeon-doo drags him up, and the ahjummas cheer. Yeol’s pained bobbing eventually loosens up, and you can see him think, aw, what the heck, as he throws away his blazer and dances with heart, in sync with Yeon-doo.

They catch a late bus, and wha…she won a giant rice-cooker? What mischief is this? Where is the stereo they were promised? Yeol is back to pretending he doesn’t know her and takes the last available seat, smirking. Glaring, she deposits her prize on his lap while she stands. The other passengers give him sidelong looks (at his unchivalry? Or at the rice-cooker?), and he shifts uncomfortably.

She refuses to join him when the seat next to him frees up. She quickly changes her mind however, when he pettishly slides the cooker at her — third prize, apparently. They squabble about who holds it, pushing it back and forth. Oh, you two. Hee.

They fall asleep, Yeon-doo’s head resting on Yeol’s shoulder, her head cushioning his cheek, with the rice cooker between them. Yeol wakes up first, and crinkly-smiles at sleeping Yeon-doo. He gently takes the cooker, and settles back in. Aww you marshmallow!! Being all contrary to bug her and then being sweet when she’s unconscious! I lovehate you!

They’re met at the school gates by Teacher Yang, who admonishes them for cutting without telling him (he could have cut, too!). He briefs them on their story, that they’ve just come back from the hospital. But he’s mystified by the rice cooker in Yeol’s hands.

Dong-jae runs to meet Yeon-doo. Aw, he must have spent all day thinking the worst. She assures him that she’s fine, and proudly shows off her prize. He spots the plaster on her hand, and reaches out. Although he tries, he can’t quite touch her.

Yeon-doo tends to her grazed hand in bed. She hugs the rice cooker, bubbling with giddy laughter at the memory Yeol’s rescue and her day with him, annoying her roommates.

Yeol is no less giddy, and keeps bursting into little giggles. Ha-joon chuckles, too, and looks happy when he says it’s the first time he’s seen Yeol laugh like that.

Instructor Nam moonwalks into the gym the next day, impressing the kids. Dong-jae shows up to join the club, and she welcomes him — a basketball player should be useful. Yeon-doo thinks he’s mad, but he replies that it’s good, since he can be by her side to protect her.

Instructor Nam is disappointed that they still haven’t done their get-to-know-each-other homework. We rejoin her settling in for a relaxing afternoon in the sun while the kids are set to jumping jacks for punishment. She assures anxious Teacher Yang that it’s all voluntary. Out of getting a load of penalty points, or paying with sweat, they insisted on the latter, she says. Yang looks a little impressed despite himself.

The kids finally do their assignment. Each side poses civilized questions to the other, and Da-mi asks Yeol if he’s dating anyone right now. He looks straight at Yeon-doo, face breaking into a cheeky smile as he says there’s someone he wants to kiss.

Dong-jae innocently tells Yeon-doo she should go to the nurse’s office — her face is on fire. She deliberately misunderstands, and Yeol grins to himself.

Instructor Nam demonstrates a move she’ll be teaching them, and instructs them to pair up for practice with the person in front of them. Yeol and Yeon-doo end up partnered (of course), as do Soo-ah and Dong-jae. The group complain loudly, and Nam offers them a choice again: demerits or punishment! That gets them in line fast, clambering onto each other’s shoulders. Dong-jae, though, doesn’t move.

That night, Dong-jae stares at a doll, and pushes himself to touch it. Sweating with effort, he still doesn’t manage.

Next day, Principal Choi comes across CCTV footage of a Baek Ho—Real King hall-fight. She flails about the reporters finding it and orders Teacher Im to delete all incriminating material.

Im goes for a coffee break when he’s done, but the screen he leaves up is the moment where Soo-ah finds the bloody towel from the day of Ha-joon’s injury. Oh good.

At the same time, Yeol and Yeon-doo are dropped off to the staffroom to write a report. While Yeon-doo’s in the bathroom, Yeol wanders around until he reaches Teacher Im’s computer. Recognizing Soo-ah, he plays the video to see her pick up the towel and head inside.

All the pieces fall into place. Devastated and furious, he goes straight for her. She sneers that Ha-joon’s self-harm isn’t much of a secret. Yeol warns her to keep her mouth shut if she doesn’t want to die. She throws the warning back at him: If he messes with her, she’ll tell Ha-joon about this, just to see him go crazy.

As soon as he’s gone, Ha-joon himself appears and it’s clear he’s heard most of it. Teeth gritted, he demands she tell what life-threatening thing it is that he musn’t know. After the fourth time, she scowls that he’ll regret finding out.

Ha-joon sits alone on the rooftop as night falls. In the dorms, Yeol panics as the nightly roll call gets underway and Ha-joon is missing. He quickly texts Teacher Yang asking him to cover for Ha-joon’s absence, and then runs through the school looking for him.

Baek Ho’s lit room raises his hopes, but they’re dashed when it’s Yeon-doo who exits. He desperately asks if she’s seen Ha-joon. Her negative sends him running, struck by a new fear. But when he reaches the rooftop, the door’s locked.

Ha-joon takes a running jump across the roof, but he stops short of going over the edge. He looks down below, cracking with emotion.

Yeon-doo finds a stricken Yeol at the foot of some stairs. Sitting beside him, she tells him Ha-joon will definitely come back, because that “lie†he told her was the truth. Eyes sympathetic, she touches his shoulder and tells him not to stay out too late.

Ha-joon shoulders through the busy morning corridors, face dangerous. Yeol overhears Hyo-shik and Seung-woo talking about him, and finds out he’s headed for the principal’s office. He runs.

Ha-joon bursts into Principal Choi’s office and rampages. The teachers try to hold him back, but it’s Yeol who has any effect on him. He clasps him around the middle, swearing at him to stop. Ha-joon breaks out of his hold, too, and with a last hard look at his friend, storms away. Choi looks dispassionately on, because she’s a lizard.

Yeol chases Ha-joon through the grounds, through a sudden downpour. Ha-joon turns on him and asks why he did that to him, when he already wants to die. “You want to die?†Yeol asks, seizing him by the lapels. “Then die, jerk!†But when Ha-joon replies that he really will, it’s more inevitable fact than threat.

Ha-joon turns his anger on the Baek Ho clubroom, and tells them he’s quitting. But he’s just spoiling for a fight, so when Seung-woo calls him rude, he throws a flying punch at him and the room descends into chaos.

Oh my lols, Instructor Nam hangs about outside the door, ignoring the shouts from within. She stops Teacher Yang from entering — the kids need to work out their aggression, she says. He’s shocked that she’s overlooking it, but that’s not it at all. Fighting in the hallowed halls of school? She’s got it all on film. Hahaha, I love her methods.

Their punishment commences in the pouring rain, and every last one of them is on the ground, rolling in mud. Principal Choi sprays her tea when she spies them from her window, but quickly tells herself she didn’t see anything. I love that Instructor Nam drives her to incoherence.

The drill finishes with the rain, and the soaked kids head inside. Ha-joon and Yeol remain behind. “I was afraid that I would lose you again,†Yeol says without looking up. The method sucks, he agrees, that’s why — and he doesn’t let Ha-joon talk over him — that’s why they should just keep their heads down against the adults, quiet as the dead. It’s a desperate echo of Joon-soo’s words to Real King.

Voice thick with emotion, Ha-joon says that’s why he’s struggling to endure: “Because of you…because of you.â€

The kids sit knee-to-knee around a table, slurping ramyun in their muddy clothes, to the amusement of the other students. A quick flashback shows us that this, too, is part of Instructor Nam’s exercise. Yeon-doo’s infectious giggles at the sorry sight of them all have the whole group descending into laughter before long, and for the first time, the walls that divide them seem a little less indomitable. Passing, Teacher Yang is surprised at the sight of their apparent camaraderie.

Yeol and Ha-joon head into the shower, and mischievous Yeol is back, spraying Ha-joon before he gets a chance to undress. An adorable waterfight ensues, and the boys are all smiles as their world is right again.

The next morning finds the two boys paying Principal Choi a visit. Yeol kneels in apology for yesterday’s incident, and Ha-joon reluctantly follows suit, head lowered. They ask for forgiveness, and Choi’s smug satisfaction makes me want to punch her. In acknowledgement, she submits that bringing it up with his father all of a sudden wouldn’t be helpful. I’m not sure if it’s a threat when she says she’ll give thought to when a good time might be.

At Yeon-doo’s mom’s cafe (hello, favorite song!), Yeol’s dad keeps taking dirty dishes from her. She sits him down and tells him to spit it out, whatever it is. He hedges for a second, then sets a box in front of her, open to reveal a ring. He tells her to have it, and have him, too. The proposal takes her by surprise, and she thanks him, but says she can’t accept it. Weird scene.

Instructor Nam shows the kids a map to her house. It’s entirely up to them whether they come, but she offers them her customary choice of penalty points or punishment if not. They groan.

They arrive that evening to a huge party spread left for them, and tuck in with excitement. Even Soo-ah is in a good mood. Da-mi runs to the fridge for a drink, and the kids chorus for juice. The unmarked bottle she brings is giving me strong “black currant cordial†vibes (à la Anne of Green Gables).

Oh yeah. Hyo-shik knows right away, and innocent Da-mi pours everyone “grape juice.†Yeol and Ha-joon take sips and exchange grins. By silent consensus, they all enjoy what must be Instructor Nam’s homemade wine. Hyo-shik raids the fridge for the rest of it, and eventually, Dong-jae is the only one to remain sober.

Soo-ah stops Ha-joon on his way upstairs. A sad drunk, she asks why they’re all out to get her. She cries out that she’ll kill them all, and repeats the words in a litany. He crouches by her and delivers a light poke to her forehead. She cries in earnest, asking why they all blame her when she’s struggling so hard, too. “It’s like my head is eating up my heart,†she sobs, clutching her heart, “It really feels like I’m dying.â€

Ha-joon doesn’t say a word, but there’s understanding in his eyes. Tossing a handkerchief at her, he goes on his way. She clutches it and continues to cry.

Yeol finds Yeon-doo sitting on the veranda. Eyes closed and smiling, she tells him she’s glad his friend came back; he’d been so worried. The drink-fuelled dizziness makes her lay her head on the table. Giggling, she invites him to do the same, and they’re eye to eye, inches apart. She lights up, recognizing the situation. “One! I get up! Right?†she asks, and they both sit up.

Smiling, Yeol offers an alternative, “One: I do it.†He slips a hand around her neck and leans in to kiss her.

SLY Reactions
Episode 3 & 4

Now things are about to get real!!! For this edition of SLY Reactions, I will discuss the characters, but now, also the possible, already, or potential ships to watch out for!

Kang Yeondoo
Eunji is really great this time! I am really loving Yeondoo! I love how she is strong but still fragile. The best part of her for me was when she threw the basketball to Sooah. She is straightup fire!!!

Kim Yeol
Finally, a more likeable and a softer side to Kim Yeol. He is so cute! I cant tell anything about him except for his cute and hot looks and his flaming hot pairing with Hajun in the latter part of this post.

Ha Dongjae
Finally, a deeper dig onto Dongjae's past! We were already aware that he has a fear of physical contact and now we finally knew the reason! When he was young, he accidentally caused a friend into a comatose that led him to have a sensitivity towards physical contact. I find the last part where he gives water to the drunk kids so funny and his acting there was soooooo cute!!!! He is the only one sober, probably because of Sooah.

Kwon Sooah
Probably the best character this time. Kwon Sooah is unquestioned pitiful. I really feel sad for her and I want to slap her mother for being a complete bitch to her own daughter. LET THE GIRL LIVE! I feel understanding and sympathetic to her at times. Her "dont provoke me" threat is getting less effective. But i feel that she means more into it. Probably by saying "dont provoke me" she means that "dont provoke me for i might do wrong things again". Idk.

Seo Hajun
Still no signs of Hajun's past. He is indeed pitiful. I am so happy that he has a brother, friend, and family in Kim Yeol that is willing to stay by his side.

Teachers
Nam Jungah is so great! She is the most fun teacher in the history of Kdramas next to JYP in Dream High. She is finally the one that can make the petty Baekho children go on their knees.

~

Now onto the ships/pairings/otps/ or whatever you want to call them.

Eyesmile Couple
Every YeolDoo shipper must have been so happy in episode 3 & 4! I feel sad as a YeonJae shipper... but i feel the bursting chemistry between YeolDoo. They are just cute and they look good together. Yeol is becoming more of a soft and tender guy for Yeondoo and they already witnessed each other's hard times. How cute.

Cigarette Couple
I am trying to get in this couple already (but im still for YeonJae). I must say they look so cute too! The part where innocent Dongjae returns the cigarette to Sooah was so cute and funny. Even though Sooah was a complete bitch by using Dongjae's weakness to attack Yeondoo, at least she felt guilty about it afterwards. Also, the part where they drink grape juice was sooooo cute. Yeondoo "examined" the drink if it is okay for Dongjae, but since no one was giving Sooah the drink, Dongjae gave it to her.

Strawberry Milk Couple
I may find the two earlier ships cute, but I still hang onto the Strawberry Milk couple. Every bestfriends in kdramas are destined to have at least a romantic tension between them! Other than genuine friendship, I feel that there is no romance between them. But in that "genuine friendship" they look out for each other and with that, and also their popularity, i believe KBS will embark the love triangle anytime soon. Dongjae joined the club to protect Yeondoo because Sooah is also there. Dongjae also wanted to save Yeondoo from the mop attack but he cant due to his disability. He evn wanted to check on Yeondoo's hand but his disability is stopping him. But more to Dongjae protecting Yeondoo, Yeondoo also protects Dongjae! She got all filled up when she knew Sooah did it to Dongjae. She finally stepped up her game because her dear bestfriend was dangered! And during cheerleading time, they are always by each other. The part where Yeondoo 'examines' the drink for Dongjae was too adorable! :chu: Two people in kdrama dont simply protect each other without romanticism according to the book of kdrama.

Handkerchief Couple
A newly found couple! Drunk Sooah was letting out her frustrations and Hajun witnessed them all. With understanding and sympathy in his eyes, he gave a handkerchief to the crying Sooah.

Teacher Couple
Now this is interesting. I thing Taebum and Jungah will have more than a bond in this drama! I think they will have a relationship. :chu:

~

I am expecting a lot in this drama. Though a live one, i feel that this is really good. Even better than School 2015.

I still cling onto Strawberry Milk couple even though i gave up 80% of my feels. I still have hope since KBS did Dream High (Suzy and Taecyeon were for each other at first, kissed, and liked each other but Suzy and Soohyun ended up together. Same for season 2, Jinwoon and Sora are the main couple but Sora and JB endes up together). I also ship Dongjae and Sooah. It also seems that Sooah will have two boys behind her back! Hajun is cute and fitting for Sooah as well.

Yeol and Yeondoo's chemistry is great. But Dongjae and Yeondoo have it better. Please give us romantic scenes!!!

One of the best dramas for me, Sassy, Go Go! Jjang♥
