Just finished watching, I really like this drama so far! The characters are all really interesting and I'm curious to how this will all play out. Love N's character, I wonder if his obsession with strawberry milk is inspired by his actual love of banana milk.

Minor spoiler for Episode 1

At around 23:31, what did Eun Ji's character mean when she said "Does it make sense that a guy with physical disabilities plays basketball?" Does N's character actually have a physical disability or was she just saying that since he didn't want to get pushed?

Some Gifs of the episode, mostly N but Eun Ji is also in some

Just re-read the character descriptions, and figured out the answer to my question

YVGFU14.jpg

The very last line says "However, he's awkward with communicating with others as well as physical contact, posing as a disability." So I guess the physical disability is due to his awkwardness around others.

Oh my God I just watched the episode guys. It's sooooo good. The second half gets really emotional, I shed some tears. And I really like Seo Ha Joon (Ji Soo), he's a very interesting character and I want to learn more about him. I like his friendship with Kim Yeol (Won-Keun). I also love that one teacher that's always punishing everyone, he's really funny

And of course I loved all the moments between Kang Yeon Doo (Eun Ji) and Ha Dong Jae (N). They're so cute ahh! When he was wiping her back I was dying a little bit. I'll post gifs if I come across any.

But seriously this episode was great, it had funny moments and sad moments and the plot moved along nicely. I like how fast paced this drama is, I wonder if it'll continue to be this fast paced.

Oh forgot to mention something. My heart was breaking when Dong Jae was trying to help Ha Joon in the bathroom but couldn't because of his disability with physical contact. I felt so bad for both of them. That scene was intense, N is doing great as an actor.

I have so many strong, frustrating feelings about this drama. OTL, (I was thinking about it ALL DAY after watching the first two episodes and a bout of anger coming from my younger brother who was watching it with me).

So if you may like, you can click for my long-winded, half livid and exasperated, English-student analysis of Sassy Go Go:

Dongjae/Yeondoo are total besties and the writer wants us to fall in love with their relationship and let it burn to hell because of the male lead, of course. But I get so much tension coming from Dongjae. His character is made to be flat and one-tracked, "Yeondoo and Yeondoo only" but I really hope they follow his storyline well. He has some sort of trauma relating to contact, he won't push in basketball, of all contact sports, ignored Yeondoo's hug that one time (although I think he was just out of it that one time, I'm sure she's the only exception to touch) and the way he reacted in the bathroom (I really hope people put forewarning scene with all these triggers, I thought it was going to be like Bring it On!) (But I am feeling a Dongjae/Sooah vibe soon)

Speaking of Sooah, poor girl! I hope they follow her psyche as well. Yes everyone hates her and think she's a "bitch" but they're opening up all these stories for a reason, right? Look at how she reverts to her "ice princess" vibe so quickly, she's defensive and scared she won't get into harvard, disappoint everyone. She's literally going crazy and there's no one to help her when she's supposed to remain calm, collected, and docile. When she's phoning her college consultant, you can hear the shriek and the way her voice cracks, that's pure fear. I hate how she feels so restricted to one path. You can tell when everyone gangs up on her during the cheer leading announcement, she's afraid to be used before she can use others first. She's going to all lengths for this, and it's terrifying.

And does no one find Kim Yeol incredibly creepy!? I’m sorry, but when Yeon-Doo points out that he’s a pervert, I really think she’s right. He’s always off to touch her in compromising situations, taking every random opportunity, and then five minutes later he’s hating, five seconds later he’s strangely flirting and it’s really freaking me out. It gets cringe worthy, do you like her or not!? If so, your rep means nothing! Be an actual human being and talk to her. He's like a little elementary school boy who picks (TORTURES) the girl he likes. These mixed feelings are killing me and it's only been two episodes! If he wasn't a gorgeous boy with an eye smile, but an average guy, it would be beyond disgusting.

But fine, the relationship with Kim Yeol and Ha Joon is great. When the principal mentions "You want to graduate with Ha Joon, right?" as if it might NOT happen killed me to the core. And then Ha Joon blames himself! He fears his father, his grades, everything, more than his health and well-being. (Honestly, I think cheerleading will help him A LOT) It's as if everyone knows the problem but they do nothing! I hate how there's no wiggle room for these students. I guess that's how it feels for actual Korean students? It makes me feel incredibly privileged not having to go through that, and I hate how it's a sad reality because I shouldn't feel privileged! I'm happy it captures the stigma of these young kids, when Kim Yeol says "Stop, they're actually acting like eighteen year olds" that KILLED ME. How awful it must be to say that! The writers better close up all these plot lines and send a good message to these viewers (Where Yeon Doo seems to be the ambassador of "live happily and breathe easily")

But then again, more room to develop characters, right? It’s only twelve episodes, so I’m praying they do it justice.

If anyone hasn't noticed, nearly EVERY CHARACTER in this story has a major problem one way or another. I really hope they do this justice. So many people cried in just two episodes! Yeon Doo was bleary-eyed every five minutes! I really hope that each problem isn't glossed over and taken lightly. Especially because the tone is in a supposedly light-hearted, rom-com cheerleader(!) drama. Suicide, stress, self-harm, these two themes are wayyyyyyyy out of balance. I have so much to say, misogyny, depression, Yeon Doo's *everybody's repression, but even my thoughts feel too heavy for a drama that was promoted to be light and happy and yay! sports and things that most Korean schools do twice a year. I feel like it might be a mess so I'm just going to pray for the sake of my (and all the other characters') sanity.

I really liked your analysis! I agree that it seems very heavy for a rom-com so far, naturally even comedies need some drama but dayum, Episode 2 got intense. Especially with the suicide/self-harm thing, luckily I don't get offended easily but I am very close to people that have issues with that and it hit me hard when I saw Ha Joon lying in the bathroom like that.

I'm sure quite sure why but I'm not liking Kim Yeol much right now. And not just because I ship Hakji and I'm jealous haha. The actor is good, but the character just seems off to me. I don't know how to explain it. Hopefully he will grow on me. Really like his bromance with Ha Joon though, I ship them platonicly.

I don't know how I'm going to get through a week without new episodes AHH. It's been a long time since I've watched a kDrama and I can feel my addiction starting again haha. But I really like this drama so far, excited to see how everything turns out.

I personally don't hate the possibility of Dongjae and Soo Ah getting together, I think it would be good for them both. I go between hating and feeling sorry for Soo Ah, and I think it would be good for her if she got together with someone like Dongjae and realized what is really important in the world. And maybe it would help Dongjae with his phobia/disorder as well.

Just finished watching Episode 3. Still liking it a lot! Learned a lot about some characters and am beginning to like (and dislike) certain characters more.

I'm defiantly liking Kim Yeol a lot more, he rubbed me the wrong way for whatever reason in the first 2 episodes but I like him a lot now. I ship him and Yeondoo, but I also ship Hakji. It's a difficult life to live.

Freaking Soo Ah though. One moment I'm pitying the heck out of her, thinking that she would be a completely different person if she weren't so pressured, but then she does something completely terrible (such as making that person grab Dongjae during basketball) and I hate her all over again. I hope by the end of the drama she becomes a good person because right now she's getting on my nerves.

Loved the scene with Kim Yeol and Yeondool when they were doing their punishment together. It was cute and also quite heartbreaking. Also dayum, when they snuck back into the dorms via a rope. All I could think of was how badly they'd get injured if they fell. Scary stuff.

The group of angry moms was really funny. Whenever I saw them waling together furiously I couldn't help but giggle. Not sure if it was meant to be funny but they're just so uptight and proper that I find it that way.

Ohhh my Godddd I loved this episode! We finally know why Dongjae won't touch anyone, since he pushed someone from a playground set and hurt them (I think it was Yeon Doo but I'm not sure). I wonder how he will do the cheerleading then. Also super glad that he joined the cheerleading club, now we will get to see more of him! But I hope that his relationship with Soo Ah won't be romantic. I feel like his kindness will rub off on Soo Ah and she will eventually become a better person, but until she does a 180 and becomes a saint, I don't want her anywhere near Dongjae's heart.

I feel so bad for Ha Joon. I want him to be happy, like he was when playing with Kim Yeol in the shower (that sentence sounds strange). Still loving their bromance, it's obvious they both love each other.

I'm hating Soo Ah more and more. She just keeps on being a terrible person. Normally I sympathize with people when they cry, but I didn't feel at all bad for Soo Ah at the end of the episode. Ha Joon should have poked her head harder. The last scene (apart from the crying bit) was really funny. All the "grape juice" haha. Bet the teacher lady set that up for a great big bonding experience

I love the guy teacher by the way. He's really funny and also quite kind to the students, even texting Kim Yeol and not blabbing on Kim Yeol's and Yeon Doo's ditching. I think that students and teachers are generally much closer in Korea compared to where I live (USA) but it's still really nice to see that interaction.

Super ship Kim Yeol and Yeon Doo now. Still love Hakji, but as long as they stay as close friends I'll be satisfied. Kim Yeol and Yeon Doo just have such good chemistry and they're both good people. Why did the episode have to stop there?! Just a few seconds longer and they could have kissed!

N (Dongjae) is doing a really great job in this drama. Super proud of him. His facial expressions are all really good, especially when he's having mini panic attacks and trying to get over his phobia of touching people.

I don't know how I'll wait until Monday for another episode. I guess I should be thankful there's two episodes a week and not just one, but it still seems so far away

Although I love Hakji, I think I've already given up hope on them becoming a romantic couple in this drama. Luckily I still like the idea of Yeon Doo and Kim Yeol being together romantically. They both have really good chemistry together. I'm assuming that Yeon Doo and Kim Yeol will become a couple and that Dongjae and Soo Ah will become a couple. I do want Dongjae and Soo Ah to get closer and for Dongjae to make Soo Ah a better person, but I'm not sure how I feel about them becoming a couple. It'd certainly be interesting, considering how different their personalities are. I'm just scared that Dongjae will get very hurt by Soo Ah if that happens. (Don't you dare hurt Dongjae..)

Super ship the bromance between Kim Yeol and Ha Joon. I doubt they will become an actual couple, but heck that'd be awesome if it did happen!

And I think N is doing a really great job as Dongjae. I only saw small clips of him in Hotel King, and he did alright there, but he's improved a lot from what I can tell. His acting seems to have gotten better ever from episode 1 to episode 4. It makes me excited to see how well he will do in future episodes!

EDIT: Top of page so here's some photos of the cast

Also, I didn't realize that everyone reacted all surprised whenever they saw the cheerleading coach's face because she's supposed to be ugly. She's not that bad, I thought they were just shocked since they got caught staring. I hope there's a romance between her and the teacher, they'd be super cute together!

Haven't been able to watch episodes 5 or 6 because my show opened this week and I was getting home at 9-10 every night and yesterday I had a theatre festival from 5am to 9pm. Super excited to watch them right now!

EDIT: AHH Episode 5 was really but but holy smokes Episode 6 was soooo amazing! My favorite episode thus far! It was a more serious episode but man the very end made me emotional. Teacher Yang is one of my favorite characters and I hope that all things turn out well for him after the cheerleading stunt. Glad Yeon Doo convinced Soo Ah's 2 lady "friends" to tell the truth. They don't seem like terrible people, they're just being badly influenced by Soo Ah.

Ha Joon is also becoming even more likable. I've liked him since the beginning since he's an interesting character and I love his bromance with Kim Yeol, so I'm glad to see how he's supporting Teacher Yang so much. Hate his dad though. Goddamn. What an asshole. And I don't really think Ha Joon has a romantic interest in Yeon Doo yet, I think he's just finally seeing her in a positive light.

Soo Ah... I hope she starts to become a better person soon. I understand that she's being evil because of the stress of her getting into an Ivy League, but still. I think Dong Jae is going to help her realize that she really just needs to find happiness in her life, which she'll probably find in cheerleading with everyone else. Not sure if they will be a romantic couple, but I hope the two become friends, that way Soo Ah can become a good person.

Super excited for the next episodes. I can't believe the drama is already halfway over though!  I wish it was longer.

I watched Episode 7 but I'm too busy right now to fully watch Episode 8. I need a solid 2 hours to watch an episode because I constantly replay my favorite scenes over and over. Still hating Soo Ah. She better become a better person by the end of the drama, and if not, then I hope she drops to 200th place in ranking.

Finally got around to watching Episode 8. Oh my Lord I hate Soo Ah so much. I hope she gets what's coming for her. I get that she's pissed at Yeon Doo (even though it was some BS evidence) but she just endangered her life by leaving her in an unknown place super far from the campsite without any means of communication. Goddamn I hate her.

And Eunji is such a good actress. I had seen everyone talk about that last scene already but seeing it for myself... wow. I'm really impressed by her. Glad to see her and Ha Joon getting closer. I don't think they will end up together since all the episodes prior to the last few have been building up Yeon Doo's and Kim Yeol's relationship, but I think they'll become even better friends. Which makes me really happy because I've liked Ha Joon a lot since the beginning of the drama, even though he wasn't as likable then.

Can't wait for the next episode. Can't believe there's only 4 more, what the heck?! Oh and I think Dongjae was the one sending the notes. Kim Yeol is the obvious answer but we haven't been seeing much of Dongjae lately and I think it's because he's being a secret hero.

FINALLY A KISS! I WAS WAITING FOR SO LONG! Ohh man it's going to be super awkward when the parents announce that they want to get married.

Man, Soo Ah. Not sure how to feel about her. I tend to forgive people easily so of course right now I'm feeling bad for her, but she still did a whole lot of bad shit. I'm glad she seems to be becoming a better person (finally!) but I don't think I completely forgive her yet. I knew something was up when she was all smiles with Dongjae and wanted to have a good time. Granted, I had accidentally slightly spoiled myself because I saw a picture of Dongjae hugging her so I assumed he saved her from something, but it still was off.

And for some reason I didn't know this was a live-filming drama or whatever. That makes sense, considering how much some things have changed. I don't like everything that's gone on in the drama, but overall I've liked it a lot! It's my first kDrama in awhile so I'm glad to be getting back into them now. I'm talking like the drama is over but there's still two more episodes.

I wonder what's going to happen with Soo Ah now though. Is she somehow going to convince the school to let her go back so she can be with her friends? I thought it was impossible and I doubt they'd be persuaded just because some people sent her some videos asking her to come back. But then again this si a high school drama so that is likely to happen.

Overall these two episodes have been super emotional and quite a lot to handle, especially episode 10. It did get really cheesy in the end, but I'm glad it ended on a happy note instead of a sad note. Oh and yay for more Dongjae screentime! I missed you N.

Haven't watched the final 2 episodes yet, but In Kyo Jin (the actor of the principal's assistant)posted this cute goodbye selfie of the cast and I had to post it

in-kyo-jin_1447178683_insolently.jpg

I'm sort of scared to watch the final episodes because then the drama will be over   I've said it a lot but this is my first kDrama I've watched in a long time so I'm sad to see it come to an end. I think I will watch it this weekend when I have more time.

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm late since I started watching SGG hours ago, and I'm loving it so far. There are many potential ships, and the guys are so hot especially Yeol. With that aside, I love how the drama is exploring how the pressure to become successful in school can be overwhelming for the children. I want to dislike Soo Ah (I'm on episode 4), but I can't exactly blame her for her actions. I love analyzing the psychological perspective of these characters, and they are also, more or less, relateable to most teens. I can't wait to keep watching until the end!

Glad to see people still enjoying the drama! Hope you have fun watching it, I liked it a lot.
