Do you think social media make people much more insensitive ?

Yesterday was the TechnoParade in Paris. It's a day of "joy" supposedly, where tons of people just dance in the streets, following various chariots where DJs play.
I've been there a couple of times already and it's very common that young people fool around, climb up bus stops or statues. Also, since it's in the streets, the security is pretty poor. A lot of people are stoned and/or drunk.

Yesterday, a guy fell off this statue to his death. I've been seeing a bunch of photos and videos (some are gruesome, you could see his head surrounded by blood and all), and I'm just completely disgusted by the situation. What gets to me the most is that half of the comments I see on facebook or twitter are either saying it was fun or saying the guy was a dumbass anyways. I mean sure, it was a dumb move,  but what the hell happened to paying hommage & respect to dead people?

Here are some comments that particularly got me on Facebook :
"Seeing him fall was so exciting"
"What a dumbass, it's just the world deciding that a dumbass should die today :)"
"A glass of alcohol and you suddenly feel like a bird lmao"
"He was definitely looking for it"

I'm really really grossed out by this whole situation, it creeps me the hell out. How can people become such assholes behind their screens man...

Anyways, I hope that guy rests in peace. It must be so difficult for the family to see all those videos and photos :soul:
