You can bulk-buy digital albums in China though so these kinds of numbers don't mean much. And they're cheap as shit. 1 person could technically buy hundreds of "copies" and they'd still count.

everyone bulk-buys

your favs fans,

my favs fans,

every fandom

so after your logic everyones sales are irrelevant.

.. right, except you can't really bulk-buy digital music in the way I'm talking about. Like you could buy one copy of a song from loads of different music sites here in the west, but you couldn't go onto Amazon right now and buy like 100 copies of a digital single by an artist. You could buy it once and that'd be it. So obviously yeah, everyone does bulk-buy for their faves, but in China where you can bulk-buy digital music in a way that you can't anywhere else, it does make sales far less relevant.

Despite that people can bulk buying,no other singer beat his record.

why are u even comparing it to how digital sales work in the rest of the world??? he is a breaking a chinese record..it have nothing to do with how things work in other places.and if he is the first one to be able to break that record in china and sell that much in this short amount of time even tho every chinese artists fans could bulk buy for their faves then it is still relevant yes.

by your logic all chinese artists are irrelevant and we should always dismisses w/e they achieve just bc it works differently in the rest of world.and like others said in china the physical sales market is pretty much dead so digital sales does mean a lot.

That's precisely what I'm saying. Who gives a fuck if a Chinese artist sold 1m copies of a song if those sales only came from like a couple hundred die-hard fans? It means nothing and it's relative.
