btw i'm not really familiar with secret weapon, can someone brief me on it's concept? haven't really found any eng subs at the moment, and i heard spica won so i'm kinda interested, any info would do, tnx much appreciated.=)

 

 

It's a variety show where 10 girls from less popular girl groups compete in missions to see who will win. It is a 10 episode season with the same 10 girls but I'm not sure what the winner gets. I think the point of the show is more to give the girls a chance to shine. Sihyun did come in overall first place for the first episode.

 

I think subs are going to take some time for various reasons. One, the network won't sub it themselves like Arirang or KBS does. Two, the show is really long, almost an hour and a half. Three, none of the groups have super huge fandoms with tons of subbers (hoping between HV, Gfriend, and possibly Bestie fans to step up) so we have to hope they can pull together to get it done. This being the first episode, it will take time for the subbers to work out a system.

At least one of the judges on "Her Secret Weapon" is Sihyun's fan. The girl who is one of the judges uploaded this BTS video and at about the 2 minute mark she is taping the girls and says Sihyun is her favorite.

I found it interesting because whenever I watch SPICA perform on Arirang shows they never seem to have any non-Korean fans cheering for them. Even when they did that food show during YDLM promotions and they ran across some foreign girls on the way to the restaurant, they girls didn't know who SPICA was, but of course they knew a whole bunch of other groups. But when I was watching SPICA.S do one of the Arirang radio shows live, I was amazed (and so was the DJ) at the amount of international fans that were writing on the message board. It's so hard to gauge SPICA's fandom, sometimes I think is decently sized but other times I think it's really small.

Girl group SPICA’s Park Sihyun showed off an exceptional back view dance.

The upcoming second episode of MBC every1’s ‘Secret Weapon’ on 26 June has 4minute’s domineering and sexy Hyuna as the episode theme. The programme revealed a photo of Hyuna’s alluring back view, and conducted a survey about the 10 girl group members based on the question “Who do I want to hit on in a club based on her alluring back view?â€.

The programme ranked the members based on the survey results, and in the subsequent discussion, some of the members expressed pity at their own rankings. Thus, the programme added a back view dance showdown, ’Don’t turn around to dance’, allowing them to earn more points. Park Sihyun, who was ranked in the bottom half of the survey, took on the challenge without hesitation. She wore shoes that were fixed to the ground, only relying on her back view for victory. The big sister of the 10 girl group members showed off her flashy and exceptional sexy dance moves, earning explosive cheers from the holic fan judges.

In addition, the third segment of the programme was ‘Masked Dance King’, a dance showdown with masks. The 10 girl group members wore masks, battling one another in cute, powerful and sexy dances, with the judging panel scoring them based solely on their dancing. Perhaps due to the fact that they were wearing masks, they all showed off their natural and exceptional dancing, even going into a trance.

During the sexy dance battle, MCs Defconn and Boom kept shouting “Thank you†after seeing the girl group members’ impressive body lines. The usually calm judging panel also lost control of themselves after watching the girl group members dancing, pressing their green lights continuously.

The second episode of ‘Secret Weapon’, which created high expectations from the unpretentious girl group members and intense competition, will be broadcast on 26 June at 6pm KST.

Awesome! I too have been reading rumors for the past couple of weeks that it would be Bbo on Mask Singer, but I'm equally happy it's Boa. Funny that the song she did is one Bbo did too on the radio show she was on.

I actually think Sihyun is a better choice for MC. Narae is really shy and very quiet. She's noticeably improved on the radio show and beauty show she does but IMO she's still not as outgoing and quick witted as Sihyun. Also looking at the other hosts, who are older, Sihyun fits in better visually (I'm thinking they are trying for a more mature audience). Plus Sihyun needs more exposure, she's had almost no individual activities in the last couple years.

Because to those self righteous little kids who haven't done anything in life and don't even know how to drive, drunk driving and drowsy driving are the same thing and they are both are worthy of their condemnation. Except that is if it's their bias....then it's not oppa's fault.

Does anyone know when the next ep\pisode of Mask King Singer airs?

 

Its difficult to gauge when you'll become drowsy. It can kinda creep up on you especially when driving. Its certainly happened to me more than once. Fortunately I have never caused an accident because of it but there have been some close calls. I don't drink so I can't really make a valid comparison but drunk driving imo is way worse of an offense even if they can lead to an auto accident. Action vs. Intention.

 

 

Unfortunately I have done both, and more, when I was younger and dumber, I never got into an accident, but that was definitely more luck than skill. Both hamper your reaction time so they are both dangerous in that respect. But to me, drunk driving also inhibits your judgement whereas sleepy driving only affects your judgement when you are at or near falling asleep.

 

Some of those times I drove sleepy were because I thought I was alright, or at least felt alright, and I had to get somewhere (sometimes for work). To another person it would seem easy to say just don't drive but when it's your own decision to make it's not so clear cut for many reasons. It's always easy to judge another person for their actions then face our own reality.

It airs on MBC at 4:50 pm on Sundays. Thank God it's on regular MBC so there's probably live streaming some place. It took me awhile to realize that MBC Every1 was a paid cable channel and I kept looking for a live stream to watch Sihyun's show. I did find one but it was really unreliable.

I'm still not believing it until they either officially announce it or there's pics of them doing the MV. Been fooled to many times into thinking a comeback was coming only to be left hanging.

 

 

Oddly enough there doesn't seems to be too much hate for Jiwon from knetz. The top comments I crudely translated on Google from the article on Naver seemed to be more sympathy and understanding rather than judgmental. What kinda ticks me off is there's like a million English translated articles on this but those same places don't cover any of the good stuff SPICA does like Boa's appearance on Masked King.

 

 

EDIT: Spoke to soon, the new article with B2M's official statement is getting some hate. Still not that bad though, could be much worse.

They should include apologize statement.

 

And regarding comeback, i just think that was a weak excuse to divert some attention

 

 

I just checked on Spica_Tweets account over on twitter and here's what was posted.

 

B2M didn't make a statement, but only reposed the calls from reporters, so it's a little bit different between different articles.

 

1. JiWon admitted it's 100% her responsibility in causing this accident.

2. JiWon apologized to the victims in person

3. it's a very minor traffic accident that one of the involved driver even said "it's fine" and left without going to the hospital.

Do you know the structure of the show. I have only watched cuts for Solji so I don't really know how the show works.

How many rounds are there?

 

 

I know in general how the brackets go. The show goes in 2 episode segments for the 8 competing singers. The first episode for this group with Boa started last week, where pairs them competed against each other in a duet. The episode tonight, the winning 4 singers will pair up and compete singing solo. The 2 winning singers from that round with then compete against each other in another round of solo songs. The final winner will then compete against the reigning Mask King "Cleopatra". Then next week it starts all over again with a new group of 8 singers trying for the chance to compete against the Mask King.

 

So Boa has a chance of singing as many as 3 times tonight if she keeps winning or as little as 1 time if she gets eliminated in the next round.

Solji was kinda the first, but since that was the pilot show they don't really count it. Officially Episode #1 didn't come until later, and it was then they started carrying the Mask King over and not revealing their identity until they lost.

Can we make Narae famous?

Quirky idols are the trend these days. Narae is genuinely weird and quirky. She always makes me laugh.

Plus she's pretty.

 

I have been thinking about doing a thread on her for a longtime. She is the most well rounded talent of the group as well as being quirky, plus she's pretty, so I figure she would be the one anyone could find something to love about. The problem is you can only put so much vids and pictures in a single post so unless someone makes a whole youtube vid just about her covering all her different aspects, I can't see how it can be done. Vid making isn't my thing.

 

 

 I'm so eager to know their concept for the comeback. Its always vastly different from the previous. The just did ballad and sexy concept so it won't be neither of those.

I think I want a fierce concept.

 

Its still going to be a full/mini album right? I want SPICA to have a showcase.

 

 

 

I too want to see a strong/fierce concept from them, maybe even a song leaning toward Rock. But they'll have to do the comeback before summer ends because during autumn and winter kpop concepts in general are mellower.

But then again it might because she shot those TrueMeShow  episodes awhile back and then are just showing them now. Her face was much rounder in those. I like round faced Narae.
