DID SHE EVER DATE HIM?????????

Yeah she did. Lee Hyori even bought it up on X-Unnie. Sihyun got a lot of hate for it, both in the beginning and when it ended, because people thought it was just a publicity stunt since she was from a nugu rookie group. It may be a big reason why she went from being the most popular member in Korea, to one of the least (I think Boa is still the least popular in Korea, but the most popular internationally).

http://www.allkpop.com/article/2015/02/nicole-to-make-her-japanese-solo-debut-in-april-before-returning-with-her-next-korean-album

this article said that nicole is going to promote in japan either in april or may AND is getting ready for korea comeback after that. I guess SPICA's comeback will be as far as virgo's constellation. Actually i'm hoping for April for SPICA's album release.

April is unlikely as Jiwon's drama will run from March through April, but I guess it depends how big her role is. It must be a decent sized part as she is listed as a cast member on the press releases (btw one of the main actresses' name is Wang Jiwon).

It does say Nicole will release a Korean album AFTER May, and knowing how B2M works, that could mean anything. I mean if we believe what they said about SPICA they should have had a Korean comeback last summer before KCON, Boa's solo, and a full album out by now.

But it does sorta bottleneck their three young artists because now Nicole, Eric Nam, and Boa and/or SPICA won't be available until May then they'll ALL be able to do comebacks at the same time. Not to mention B2M has a boy group they have to debut at sometime. There are so many variables it's impossible to guess what's in store for SPICA. Will Boa's solo come first? Are they still doing a full album? Does ASA Music have any plans for them in the US or any other market? etc. etc. etc.

The future of SPICA got questionable when they announced SPICA.S, and just left Boa out in the cold. Yes, they said she was gonna have a solo, but where is it?

I feel something must have happened for them to leave out Boa like that, doesn't sit right with me at all.

I don't think anything really happened. I think they felt that Boa shows the most promise as a solo act and also didn't fit the 'Give Your Love' concept.

I agree with Entropy, I don't think there was any drama about SPICA.S and Boa. It's widely known that Boa never wanted to do a "sexy" concept. I think she gave in for the "I Did It" promotions because of the US debut but I think it was her choice to sit out "Give Your Love". I think what happened after that was B2M signed Nicole and wanted to debut her so Boa's solo got bumped. My only regret with Ghost was that it wasn't promoted. It was such a good song it should have been. I think it would have been better if SPICA promoted "Ghost" after KCON and left the SPICA.S out, but of course that's in hindsight.

My biggest gripe with B2M is that they don't release any information on what's going on with SPICA (or Eric Nam, and now even with Nicole). If they really want a fanbase for SPICA then they have keep people interested in them inbetween promotions. SPICA isn't popular enough right now that people talk about them all the time like they do with other groups like SNSD or 2NE1 or other popular groups. So it's up to B2M to feed the fans information so they have something to talk about. Even for me as a SPICA fan it's hard to stay excited for them when I don't even know what's going on with them.

I heard the guys who dances with Spica in 'Painkiller', 'Tonight', and 'YDLM' are the trainees for B2M's new boy group. Is that true?

Does anyone what kind of group it will be? Because if its going to be the male version of Spica, I'll support them.

I just hope Spica gets a comeback or two in before the guy group debuts.

I can't say for sure about Painkiller and Tonight(but it probably holds true too), but the dancers for YDLM were definitely B2M's boy group. Narae points them out in this behind the scenes video during YDLM promotions:

And yes, they are supposed to be the male version of SPICA.

Apparently Jiwon's drama is in danger. Either it is changing time slots or it may get cancelled outright. SBS is going to air a variety show in that weekend time slot since their dramas have had terrible ratings. Right now it looks like it will air in the time slot that "My Heart Twinkle Twinkle" is in. The problem with that is that show has like 30+ more episodes to go (2 episodes air each week) so it'll be another 4 months before Jiwon's drama even airs. And most kdramas only film a few weeks in advance of their airing (they already started filming) so this may interrupt any SPICA plans. Not sure how all this is going to work out.

Also if you haven't heard, Eric Nam's tour that Boa was doing was postponed because of all the snowy weather on the east coast. So I'm not sure how that's going to go either.

Hopefully B2M and/or ASA Music can act quickly if the opportunity arises that SPICA can fit a comeback in there.

Happy Birthday to Brad Pitt's owner!!

btw, I forgot to mention that it's Angelina Jolie now because her bearded dragon is a girl. Narae had to wait until it was fully developed before she could tell what sex it was, but now she knows. lol

I was just flipping through the channels and all of a sudden I see the mv for "I'll Be There" on Pops in Seoul on Arirang TV, that was random! lol  That mv was how I discovered SPICA.  It was actually after they finished promoting it, before they promoted "Lonely".  I love the 90s vibe of IBT and that made me look into SPICA, but it was "Painkiller" that hooked me into all this. I had been watching kdramas and variety since I was a little kid (my first kdrama that I can remember was "Autumn Story" in 2000) and had a passive interest in kpop but never really followed it.

I'm also missing SPICA, but there are signs pointing to a possible comeback soon. B2M opened up an official FB page (only 3 years after there debut, lol), Sihyun put herself on a diet, the all 4 members of SPICA.S were all active on IG yesterday (hopefully meaning Boa is in the studio working on the song) after being quiet for so long.

I agree with a lot of what has been said, like SPICA's versatility and kpop's lack of appreciation for it, and their ages.

Popularity in kpop has little to do with music, look at Exid and Ladies Code. It took an event other than music for them to get popular, and after that people started saying their music was good. Their music was the same before they were popular so how did it all of a sudden become good? I mean those groups, just like SPICA, were on the same music shows as all the other more popular groups so it's not like kpop fans in Korea never heard their music.

Kpop is ruled by little girls who basically turned it into a high school popularity contest. It has so little to do with music that they even have to justify things with titles like dance lines and visuals and the rest of the industry(mostly the big companies) feed that desire because it keeps them on top. The whole fandom culture of kpop is ridiculous because you have to pick and choose a pecking order for the groups you like because in the end you have to have one favorite/bias. Here in the US, artist don't compete with one another per se, they compete FOR the attention of fans, not against each other, which is why fanwars are nowhere near the scale they are in kpop.

The whole "boring" thing (I've heard it many times already) just reinforces that idea that it isn't about their music. Kpop fans want the whole fanfiction part, the shipping, the aegyo, etc. And while SPICA does have some of that they don't put it on obvious public display all the time like it's a marketing ploy. And thank goodness they don't because I like their more natural/real image

I can promise you that at some point kpop fans will appreciate SPICA's discography, but if they don't get popular soon it will probably come well after they disband.

Well, Bohyung is vacationing in Japan, Jiwon is shooting her drama (that's actually good), and Narae is a guest host on Beauty Station. My hopes for a SPICA comeback anytime soon has dwindled severely.

Narae being on Beauty Station is throwing mercuries on twitter for a loop but she looks good in the preview pictures.

everyone, have you seen boa's dp picture on her insta? omg...is that real....she did gum piercing (?)

it feels painful for me even to just see the picture ._.

I think her piercing is through that little flap of skin that joins the gums to the upper lip. I'd show a pic but it's still pretty gross.

does jiwon play as one of the main casts too?

She's not the lead actress(that's Wang Jiwon) and she's not the main supporting actress either, but her part is big enough that she's listed in all the promotional posts for the drama.

I don't think the Hyori thing is a big deal for SPICA. I've said the same thing a while back that kaizen did, that I appreciate what she did for them but they need to stand on their own and not just be "Hyori's" group. And she can still produce for them if she wants, her contract ended with B2M in 2013 but she still produced "You Don't Love Me" for SPICA in 2014.

  • 2 weeks later...

Since I pretty much just stick to a few artist/groups threads and wander the music section, I don't really know what the whole badge change thing is. But since you're interested in doing it, I'll support you.

This is great that it's happening now! I actually wanted a Narae badge but since I didn't like it I was going to get a Mamamoo one, good thing I waited.

btw, do the badges get awarded for every 100 posts up until 500, then every 250 after that? I think that's how I read it.

btw,i think  i heard Bohyung, Jiwon, Boa n Sihyun voices at 0:58, 1:01:00 to 1:02:27 (maybe misheard because i'm officially missing them :rlytearpls: )

Yup, SPICA has an OST for the kdrama "Super Daddy Yeol". I hear Narae around the 2 minute mark at the beginning of that episode so it's an all OT5 song.

Mercuries on Twitter were posting about that car accident 15 hours ago because it said a SPICA member was involved but Jiwon and Bohyung posted in the fancafe that it wasn't any of their members and that the eye witness must have been mistaken. However it turns out, I'm just glad they're ok.

So B2M has FINALLY released a statement.....

[Trans - B2M's response] We have confirmed with Yang JiWon and other members. It is definitely not anyone of them. People may misidentify her as JiWon when watching the video in a flash, but it is definitely not. It also made us feeling speechless when the reporters reported the news with making Yang JiWon's photo in mosaic. It's a very horrible world recently. People fail to distinguish right from wrong. However, we still have no specific plan of any legal actions. translation by Spica_Tweets

Good thing Jiwon took matters into her hands and posted that tweet of hers or the crap could have been snowballing all this time. B2M absolutely sucks at PR/Promotions

Narae was a guest lecturer for something involving modern music, or something like that, last year and she also still goes to school, I presume she's going for Master's degree. I know she's taking classes for Chinese.

I gave up trying to guess what the hell B2M's strategy for SPICA is. I still don't get why they treat everything SPICA does as a national secret. There's never anytime to hype things up because any news about them usually comes out like a few days before the event. If you look at just about any semi popular group people know weeks, or even months, before their activities, even the small ones.
