SPICA at the SBS Awards Festival. I thought this was going to be a SPICA.S appearance but was happily surprised to see the full group. It looks like they did YDLM but this pic doesn't look like YDLM choreo. Maybe another song? .....secretly hoping for Ghost.

Btw I'm starting to see a lot of Mamamoo fans put down Spica. Saying stuff like Spica is old, has no personality, and cannot perform to the level of Mamamoo, and that Mamamoo is taking over Spica's position in kpop. I like Mamamoo but I don't understand why their fans have to pit them against Spica.

I've been seeing it from the very beginning. I love Mamamoo but I won't go into their section or post up about them because the conversation always turns into a SPICA bashing. Just immature kids who have fallen prey to the kpop idea that similar style groups can't exist in the same universe so they feel the need to have them compete. It is truly sad because fans from good vocal groups should be supporting each other rather then trying to beat up on one another.

they have a point though, the market isn't big enough to support nearly as many groups as are active, that's why some groups can't get recognition or can't break through the competition even when they are clearly supreme.

But the point being there aren't that many good vocal groups so why would fans who say they want groups who can sing turn against each other? Wouldn't it make more sense for them to help each other so there are more of them and start pushing out the autotuned and heavy backtracked, all show, no substance groups?

why do you hate girls day? they make up in variety what they lack in talent.

WTF?!?! Who said Girl's Day? Read my posts rather then trying to read into them. If people want to like Girl's Day, fine. But if people are going to complain about how there aren't enough good vocal groups then they shouldn't pitting them against each other. If the goal is to have more of them, then it's counter productive to try and eliminate them every time a new one comes out.

i did, they are a fine example of a band you'd have to root out in the quest for quality singer bands' lebensraum

and that's just cruel, they work hard and deserve some recognition too

Funny how you went to them, so it is YOU who have the problem with them, not me. Like I said, if people want to like them, more power to them.I actually liked Female President but i didn't like Something. But yes, if I had to choose between having them or a good vocal group like SPICA or Mamamoo, then yes I'd dump Girl's Day in a heartbeat. But that's my personal taste. If people rather have them then that's their choice, but just be honest about it. Just don't complain that there aren't enough talented vocal groups.

dude, please don't turn so defensive

i used gsd as an example, i'm not implying you really hate them in any way.

srsly chill.

i agree that it's pointless to incite fanwars as every living being with half a brain and a spinal cord does (note how coackroaches and fishes are excluded) but the notion of fandoms banding up is equally as pointless, especially in a business where talent isn't the only success factor

Maybe you need to chill. You're the one that took my comments personally by bringing Girl's Day in as a specific example. Maybe the fandoms don't have to band together but like I keep saying it is counter productive for them to drag each other down.

So apparently at least Boa and Bohyung (and maybe all of SPICA) is headed to Europe soon. This information was pieced together by Mercuries on Twitter who caught some things on a couple of Instagram posts by other people.

First one is from Eddie Nam, Eric Nam's brother, who wished Boa a happy birthday and then said "Have a great time in í¬ë¥´íˆ¬ê°ˆ (Portugal)"

The second is from Nail Artist GEE (Unistella) who messaged Bohyung with this hashtag "유럽 잘 다녀오세요~~~~!!!^^" which translates as "Europe go well ~~~~ !!! ^^"

In true B2M/SPICA form, no official word on what's going on. So I guess we can all speculate like we always do and then be totally wrong when it really happens. lol

SPICA is in Portugal (or will be depending on how they dated it) from January 17-21. Still don't know what it's for though....

Also SPICA won an award for the Best Girl Group:

i just found out that the girls are in Portugal, omfg, finally a kpop group in my country  :ahmagah:

If you happen to find out why they are there could you please let us know? B2M has this thing about keeping everything SPICA does a secret, and this one they have kept a very tight lid on.

Sometimes I really wonder about B2M's strategy with the way they treat fans. They put out almost no information, then BOOM, the group is promoting and they are scrambling to get attention.  And it's not just SPICA, it's all of B2M's artists.

someone said to me that they're doing a photoshoot

I wouldn't doubt they would be doing one but there has to be more than that. The only way I could see them flying all the way to Portugal for a photoshoot would be for a CF. But if it's a CF, they wouldn't keep it a secret because all that coverage of their travel would be free advertising for the company sponsoring them. People have speculated it's for an MV shoot but I can't think of why they would have to travel all the way to Portugal. It's not like SPICA is a super popular group with money to burn and it's not like there is anything distinctive enough in Portugal to explain all this effort for such a small company.

I'm thinking this is a business trip for some kind of potential sponsor or investor for B2M or SPICA specifically. Maybe something like the deal ASA Music has with B2M but for the European market. Maybe they do a small concert and maybe some studio work for sampling some music for that market. I don't know, it's just me speculating.....

I was just about to post that. They will be performing soon according to Jiwon's IG so it's some type of concert for LG's convention. What I don't get is all the secrecy. If it's a closed concert why not just say that instead of having all those fans running around Lisbon trying to find them. Portuguese fans (and their seems to be quite a few of them) have been asking for info and trying to set up a fan meet but are being totally ignored. If the schedule is too tight then just explain that, if not set up a small fan meet somewhere. It's like B2M thinks fans are like a light switch you can turn on and off.  Flip them on for comebacks, then flip them off and ignore them the rest of the time.

Well it is indeed a private concert, but I still don't know why they didn't just tell everyone that in the first place. It will be a missed opportunity if SPICA doesn't at least do a small fan meet.

At least some fans were able to track Boa and Jiwon down and take pics with them

hahahahaha! I think, mercuries really really want to smack b2m or spica for not telling this. even a little fanmeeting? no? hahaha!

I think European's mercury must be really curious about their whereabouts. i thought they only went to portugal but Ittaly too?... to tell the truth, in my opinion, Spica had wasted a chance with the fan..... spica has a huge potential outside korea than in korea itself. what a waste...tsk! tsk! tsk!

I actually was getting a little upset myself just reading the twitter posts. Fans in Portugal were running around searching for SPICA and tweeting for information and they were being ignored (the managers were posting in English so they had the ability to understand). Worst yet, one of the managers posted the cryptic tweet with the SPICA/LG placard but no explanation. Luckily it turned out alright in the end as most of the people did manage to catch them near the hotel and get pics. But could you imagine how pissed some of them could have gotten if they just wasted a whole day and were ignored to the end? That's how fans become haters.....

I still have no idea why B2M treats everything surrounding SPICA like a big secret. Maybe LG wanted the concert kept a secret since it was private but obviously once SPICA was in Portugal that part of it was out of the bag so they should have just said their schedule was tight (but it wasn't) and couldn't do a fan meet so the fans didn't waste their time running around. Of course the better answer would have done an informal fan meet. I think the fans there really would've appreciated it.

The best answer would have been for LG to sponsor a fan meet away from the concert site. If they announced it weeks in advance I bet a lot of kpop fans would've come since no kpop artist have ever gone to Portugal before. LG and SPICA could've gotten great mileage out of that advertising.

BTW, the Italy part of this looks to just be a vacation for the group.

what time and which month is the most suitable for SPICA comeback?

I've said this before and I still believe that SPICA shouldn't worry about it and just go for it and let whatever is going to happen, happen. There are so many groups out there that no matter what, they're going to go against someone more popular than them. What's more important is the song/mv/concept. If they come out with something strong they will have a chance of winning one music show. That's all they need to do, is get that monkey off their back and get one win(hopefully one of the bigger shows).

I want the song to have a strong beat and be something that makes you want to move. It doesn't necessarily have to be a dance track, something like "It's Raining Men" would also work. I also want a full album because then we'll get some of their own composed songs which will give the album variety.

In short I don't want them to overthink it and worry about trends or what's hot at the moment. They just have to go for it with everything they got.

I haven't really pegged down a cover I'd like the whole group to sing yet. But there is one I'd like Bohyung to cover, it's Aaliyah's "The One I Gave My Heart To". I feel like Bohyung concentrates so hard on the technical points of singing a song that she doesn't really get into it and really feel it. That why I chose this song because there is no way to sing it without emotion and do it justice.

Wait so is this a lead role in a mainstay drama or is it a one time thing like Sihyun did a couple months back?

It's not lead role but it is a regular drama (set for 20 episodes) unlike the one Sihyun did which is basically a one time thing with a completely different story every week. Not sure how big her role will be but it at least looks to be a recurring one.
