it's a last minute thing but a bunch of us are putting together a simple messagebook for Spica to cheer them on during their US activities. Hey guys! If you go to the UK iTunes store there's a longer preview and it has the funk part of the song with Boa and Bohyung and it sounds AMAZING!!!! From the parts I've heard so far I'm loving this song and now a lot of my fears have subsided because now I actually BELIEVE this song has a chance. Just have to hope for some good promotion and a lot of luck!

Finally out! The song is really great! I really like it alot. But when is the MV coming out? Or is this only a release song?

 

 

Now that I think of it. I don't remember they have said anything about the MV release lol. Maybe it IS really just a release song. Not that it's bad or something but it would be very nice to see the MV as well.

 

 

The MV was shot in late June. It will probably debut when they have the official announcement Thursday afternoon.

Funny, "Tonight" and "You Don't Love Me" mv were great American style music videos (artistic,symbolic) but a lot of kpop fans didn't like it. This mv is shot like a kpop video (group shot, single shot, group shot, single shot) but is for the American market. 

 

Girls look great but I wish the mv was shot like Tonight and YDLM.

 

 

Where's the penthouse? Could that be the set for the MV for the Korean comeback?

 

That's what I'm thinking. That pic of the penthouse didn't show up until way after they shot the "I Did It" mv so it may very well be the case.

WOW I miss a couple of days and BOOM this thread really moved along! I posted a thread for that video above because I loved it so much. That's SPICA doing what they do best, singing live in front of an audience. I'm glad that they got a few small performances in the US under their belt before KCON. It gave them a chance to shake off the cobwebs and get used to the new environment before the big show, Keep working it girls, little by little this WILL happen.

I think Lufffy meant because they met up with Dramafever at KCON. They look like they're in the same clothes they were in at the nightclub so they must have went there yesterday. The convention itself started yesterday but the concerts are today and tomorrow with SPICA's being tomorrow.

btw, thank you Lufffy (and others too) for all that you're doing. I know it's not easy scouring the internet for all this info and then making all these posts. If not for your efforts I wouldn't know what was going on with SPICA.

I'm hoping it's not anything really serious but as we know SPICA has performed while not at their best before (Boa sick during "Tonight" comeback and Bohyng's brother during YDLM).  But I like that statement from ASA because it has me believing that the girls still wanted to perform but the company was looking out for them. Or at the very least it was deflecting blame to themselves and away from the girls. Either way at they are being looked out for.

 

I wish SPICA wouldn't do the one meal a day thing that they do on promotions. Juhyun's face is looking way too gaunt and pale lately as it is. I wish the girls wouldn't feel the need to be rail thin. One of the things I've always like about them is that they always had a healthy look to them, I like curves.

It's like a repeat of X-Unnie....lol. Boa and Bohyung look good but the other three? not so much. I never expect good fashion from Narae, and sure enough.......However, knowing her weird personality and taste, the Swami look kind of fits her. At the very least it makes me smile. Juhyun looks like she's in pajamas getting ready to go to bed. Jiwon's top is nice, and so is the bottom, but they don't go together. I'm a GUY and I don't even have much fashion sense but I find it funny that they as idols are just as bad, if not worse, than me.

BTW, isn't it weird that Mnet didn't aired SPICA's performances on MCountdown KCon 2014 Show? Is it because of the English Debut song?.. What is going on with Mnet?

 

 

 

I read on another site that they were completely cut out of the broadcast, they weren't even shown on the red carpet. Was SPICA the only one cut out?  Mnet is usually one of the places that does a lot of SPICA coverage so I find it odd that they would randomly leave them out. Something must be going on....

 

 

 

On another topic. I'm guessing since they're doing a Chinese version of "I Did It" that they're also must be a Korean version. If so, I guess we can assume that that's the song they will be promoting for their comeback? And if that's the case there must be another music video for it.

This is one of the biggest things I hate about being a SPICA fan, no information. Both B2M and ASA Music hold all the information so close to their chest and then release it at the very last second. It's fine for the big companies to do stuff like that because their fandoms will constantly keep talking and speculating about their groups but smaller labels should release info so the smaller fandoms like us can rally support for SPICA. 

 

They announce a June comeback that ends up in August, that's all good because it was probably delayed because they were working on getting SPICA into KCON. But would it have ruined anything if they had confirmed the US debut part as soon as SPICA was announced for KCON? I mean we accurately speculated it but really it would have been a lot better if they CONFIRMED it back in June.  Or even all this album talk. Make it clear whether it's an all English album or Korean one. So far I've heard them say both of those things at different times.

 

SPICA made a very good impression at KCON and people are searching for information on them. B2M should strike now with a Korean comeback to ride the small amount of hype that SPICA has generated in the US right now to help with the Korean comeback AND keep people buzzing about them in the US.

I'm liking this because it gives Narae, Jiwon, and Juhyun and chance to shine a bit more vocally. Hopefully Narae gets to stretch her power vocal ability a little more and Juhyun should get more lines too. Jiwon's vocals have been improving a lot lately, first showing up in "It's Raining Men" and carrying on into KCON. I anticipate anything SPICA, so any way they are divided up is fine with me. I know people are saying a four member sub unit is weird but it would have been more weird if it was a three member unit and Boa has her solo debut then one member is completely left out.

 

I do have some worries about Boa going solo as her popularity has been rising so if SPICA doesn't breakout soon she may see that as a more viable option. But seeing as how ASA Music plans include SPICA as a group, I imagine that SPICA will remain a five member group.

Being that they are calling it a subunit and giving it a subunit name Spica S. instead of just saying its still Spica but without Boa does make me feel better about it not being permanent.

 

 

 

That's my thinking, if they were even thinking there was a chance it was going to be permanent then there wouldn't be a need a for a subunit name. But I have to admit, I have had an uneasy feeling that they are growing apart from each other, especially Boa. She seemed to separated from the group quite a bit, even when they were making "I Did It" and after the YDLM promotions she hardly did any of the variety show appearances, even Bohyung did way more than her. Also seemed very weird that Boa stayed in LA for another 4 or 5 days after the rest of the group went back to Korea. It was only recently that I realized that they don't all live together, in fact now only Narae and Jiwon live with each other. I think Bohyung and Juhyun moved back home but I think Boa lives by herself.

I just hope that if there's some sort of conflict going on it gets resolved.

 

They did all live together, and I think that lasted up until the YDLM promotions ended. I think they moved out of the dorm because their initial 2 year contract ended. I remember when Jiwon was on "Happy Together" shortly after they debuted she talked about how no matter who did what appearances or whether anyone got an acting part, all the money they earned was divided equally with the groups members for the first two years. Since their two year anniversary was during YDLM I think after that promotion ended they were no longer required to live together in B2M's dorm.  That's just a guess but it seems to line up with what's happening.

 

I don't think there's any conflict because everything seemed fine when they were here in the states. But I do see Boa separating from the group a bit. The ASA Music guys seemed much closer to her but I mostly attributed that to the fact that Boa has a lot more experience with writing and producing, plus she's the leader. But when she stayed back in LA I thought that was really weird. I don't know, maybe this all part of some master plan for SPICA's success that we don't know about and I'm reading to much into it.

 

I honestly believe no matter how you divide this group into sub units it's going to be good because they all have so much talent. But they are definitely at their best as a group of five and I hope it stays that way.

Here's Bbo's performance yesterday on Lee Sora's Music Plaza for those of us in the US who are blocked from the KBS video. When I saw the SES video I was wondering how she would do it. This girl can sing the phonebook and make it sound soulful!
