Have you ever been ripped off on eBay or a similar site?

I've only purchased on eBay ONCE and sold ONCE.

Fortunately I found my item at a great price in great condition and from a great seller, my experience was almost too good to be true

I buy on Amazon a lot though which actually might be riskier, I'm always nervous when I make a purchase

Yes, bought some socks from this asshole from Korea who did not send it and then suddenly his/her store disappeared. Found out later that some other people who had bought from said scammer around the same time as me, did not receive their socks either. Before that though he/she received positive reviews, so not sure what happened. Originally I thought that maybe they had already closed their business, but forgot to take their store off eBay, but after not responding to my (or other people's e-mails) and issuing no refunds, it's safe to say that this person is a scammer.

Since the socks were pretty cheap, I couldn't be bothered going through the whole tedious process of trying to retrieve the money back, so I let it slide, despite being extremely annoyed.

Anyway, apart from that I've had positive experiences dealing with people on eBay. That was only the negative experience I've encountered and I frequently buy things on eBay, so the risk is low if you're careful/smart about it. For the most part, as long as you are wary, you will be fine.

Yes smh I bought glow in the dark keyboard stickers and they didn't glow. They were only £2 but I was still mad. But aside from that everything else I've purchased from those sites has been perfectly fine except a pencil case I bought that smelt really weird.

One time I ordered a few hair bows from a popular seller and they're made from cute material and function like they're supposed to, but they weren't as high quality as I expected that everyone raved about. Some were made uneven and the edges were seriously bent which I know that was because they weren't packaged the way they should've been. I guess that's not being completely ripped off, just a disappointment. I've tried to convince myself it might've been because they had a lot of orders and with more orders, the quality went down.

I always get a bit nervous ordering from sites like ebay, amazon, etsy, storenvy, etc. But I try to find a reputable seller with a good amount of honest reviews and also not spend too much money in case I ever do get ripped off.
