So, I just learned about iKON promotion with their 5 title tracks and MV and to be honest, I´m at a loss for words... Speechless to be precise.

 

But let me start off by saying that although I´m an IC, I like iKON too. I respect their grind and I´m sincerely hyped for their debut. I just cant hide my disappointment on how YG is handling things. 5 tilte tracks, 5 MVs, a half album and a full album for a total of THREE MONTHS FULL PROMOTION??!!! Jeez, even non fans wouldn´t help but pity Winner...

 

and please dont start with the "They had a successful debut" shit because this situation is not right! Yes, they had fancy teasers, classy clothes and "creative lightsticks". The album was high quality but just because they had a successful debut doesn´t mean they were promoted properly... Poor boys only promoted for a month and got sent to Japan afterwards. Except for WinnerTv, which was prior debut btw, ALMOST no variety appearance when LEE SEUNGHOON has so much potential!

 

They got rookies awards but their popularity could have soared and public´s awareness about them would have been higher if they´d been promoted properly. Poor kids busted their asses off to debut and this is the treatment they get? iKON suffered a lot and they deserve to debut asap but so did Winner. While YG is busy mediaplaying the shit out of iKON, LEE SEUNGHOON is nowhere to be found... not a single individual activity when his choregraphing skills and variety sense are no joke!!!

 

Just read an article on AKP awhile ago and YG is bragging about iKON´s writing skills... wonder when will he brag about Winner too... All he does is calling his artists SECOND THIS AND THAT! B.I second GD, Mino second Teddy, iKON second BIGBANG like WTF???!!! I´m gonna quote GOT7 JACKSON here: "If you try to be like somebody else, you will never be as good as them"( not the exact words ). Like let them be THEMSELVES for God´s sake! If he keeps on, it will only create UNNECESSARY HATE AND COMPARISONS.

 

Some might not agree with this rant but this is my opinion! And fans cant even deny this because the favoritism is too real! YG always had a soft spot for iKON but this is going too far... Dont iKON promotions not remind you of MADE promotions???!!! He really wants to make that Bigbang 2.0 Happen. Anyway...I just hope deep in my heart Winner´s Comeback will be at the same scale...otherwise shit will go down because IC are tired of YG´s BIASED ATTITUDE! Hope he keeps his shit togehter and gives them a proper comeback with good promotions!

 

I really wish for the best FOR BOTH GROUPS but seeing YG acting like this frustrates me... They both worked hard and deserve the best from YG. BIASED ATTITUDES will only create tensions and fanwars when it could have been SO EASILY AVOIDED! I will hope for the best and pray both groups get what they deserve. Please no favoritism YG!!!

well you know what lee hi didn't get weekly teasers like winner did when she debuted, i think winner who are her juniors performed more songs then her at the yg family concert, 4/5 members of winner are active while lee hi is in the dungeon...i can go on.

I'm not saying Team A is less talented, I meant that they were never the priority to YG. He was just a prisoner of his own words and when Team A won WIN, he had to debut them. Yet the next year he made the survival again just to debut Team B.

Lee Hi is also a talented vocalist and she is locked up in YG's dungeon anyway, I think the same would have happened to Team A.

But I have to STALK fansites or pann to catch a glimpse of his face! And seems like this will go on until Winner comeback after iKON in 3 months! Others have dramas, variety but he doesn´t even have that. I feel bad...

I'm replying to your opinion that Team A won't get to debut if Team B had won WIN, which I don't think would be the case, cause.. Just look at Seungyoon and Mino. They're just too good and individually too likable to be kicked out from YG. Taehyun, Jinwoo and Seunghoon are also all unique which is what YG looks for in his trainees.

 

If you look at things another way, WINNER are actually promoting differently on their own. You have Seungyoon and Taehyun making a name for themselves via acting (Taehyun needs to work harder tho) and Mino just slayed charts and hip-hop world with SMTM. For a 2nd year group, they've achieved alot. YG just chooses to focus on iKon this year cause, if you wanna debut a group, why not put in your all to promote? Being the 3rd male group to come out from YG isn't easy. They'll be compared non-stop to BB and WINNER and the thirst for them would be lesser since they're the 3rd one. Hence, promotions for them are necessary to keep them living to their hype.

 

I can understand if YG pushes WINNER's comeback to next year. They're already established (won't lose fans easily). Koreans would thirst for them if they didn't return this year like what happened to BB during the 3 year hiatus. And Mino and Taehyun need some sheltering after their scandals tbh.

 

Still, 5 MVs for iKon is really too much. Even when BB said they'd release 8 songs in 4 months, people were skeptical that it might not work out. But 5 for a debuting rookie? No way that'd work, YG. Don't ask for a flop when it hasn't go your way.

Sorry i didnt want to shut you down... I know how you feel i'm just saying this as an advice because the more you rant the more you get invested and the more you get frustrated ;)

I got your point. Thank God, Mino went on SMTM, it kinda kept their relevancy "alive". But how come Seunghoon, who already debuted doesn´t have a sinle individual activity? I find it unfair... For iKON a lot of them are less known compared to Double B but we can shield this because iKON technically hasn´t debuted yet. Jinwoo just got into acting but in terms of public recognition, he´s a GHOST. The public knows Seugyoon and Seunghoon from Superstar K, Nam Taehyun unfortunately because of acting controversy and payment scandal, Mino because of SMTM but Jinwoo is not known yet... and he has already debuted. That´s really...
