Something I hate about KPop

On an album with say 10 songs only ONE (or if we're lucky, two) gets a music video. I mean...what kind of bullshit. For a full album there should be at least 3 videos. So many songs are being neglected because of this.

Jems like these

Are suffering in the dark, being treated like an ugly stepchild, when they deserve their time to shine. Ugh, So sad.

that's just what happens with music, usually only fans listen to the full album. everyone else only hears the songs that are promoted.

in the case of kpop this is even worse since a lot of groups only promote one song from an album/mini as a title track instead of doing singles like most music industries do. so the majority only know groups by their title tracks.

groups wouldn't have to come out with completely new mini's and albums so often if they just promoted singles.

I think it's because it would take too much time to promote 2-3 singles per album every year.

Some idols release 2 mini albums a year. 2 album or 4-5 mini albums every 2 years. So they promote 1 single per mini album, album, because there is simply not enough time between eras.

And companies need to push their other artists to promote, they can't give 6 months to just one artist. It leaves the other label-mates behind while other groups from other companies' groups are forwarding their careers.

They need to stop shitting out mini albums tbh, it feels like the songs go to waste and some of them never even get performed. And most times these songs are better than the title track.

I feel you op. If ikon is successful with the 5 title track promo thing, maybe other companies will follow suit. fx has so many good non-title tracks that deserve more love. Groups should promote half of a full album.

YES I AGREE. That would be perfect.

Im calm as hell tho lmao

Ok.

Ikr. That's what I've always thought. Especially for SM who doesn't even choose the best track to be the title

K-Pop idols have to record a new album every time they make a comeback

and it's not as if companies like SM and YG are on the brink of bankruptcy so it's like...why. And yes they have to completely record a new album just to be able to perform one new song on music shows.

But album sales is how a group/company makes money.

If Taylor Swift/Rihanna/Adele/etc. can only give us 4-5 music videos per album. Appreciate small companies who give us 1-2. New music is new music, I prefer more b-side tracks than more music videos.

It's K-Pop, you don't necessarily watch a Music video to feel if they conveyed the lyrics in the mv. It's pointless to have more music videos to be frank. Companies barely earn money from it.

Unless your gonna fund them with the budget to make a music video for every goddamn song you want a music video for, don't complain, not everyone can be a Beyoncé.

Don't need an MV for every song. Promotion can also be live performances of the non-title tracks. Sing those at fanmeets, music festivals, radio shows, their instagrams,

hm, BB filmed music video for almost all their singles, 2NE1 promoted lots of their songs on music shows

EXO performed lots of songs from Exodus on music shows, SNSD from Lion Heart and Party, SHINee performed many songs from Odd also on music shows, almost all songs from Everybody mini were also performed on music shows

for SM in general performs 5 or 6 songs from an album (which can often mean whole mini album) on a music show except for maybe a repackage, now they've also started doing multiple title tracks and solo albums for their artists

even YG stepped up with their broadcast appearances lately, and almost all of their songs are performed somewhere

both YG and SM started also doing concert promotion before starting a promotion on music shows

idk, maybe the people you like don't promote as much if they aren't from a big company so they can't get enough screentime on music shows, but even from smaller companies I've seen performing more than half an album somewhere. and also kpop MV can cost as much as a video from a top western star, and many companies have way less money than them

The op is talking about music videos though.....

Oh.. I missed that. If the company has the financial means, then why not. But fx for example always have box MVs, i don't need >1 box MV. Probably different in SNSD's case though.
