Do people actually know anything on this site about Asia beyond NB, AKP, beyond fansite, music, food or they bias? I read some of the post here and the +1 people get for being ignorant makes me laugh. The people on this site don't like their race judged by what other read, but you do the same thing.

How much do actually majority of kpop fans know about Asian culture? Not much... I don't want to generalize butwhen most of them say 'I want to visit Korea so badly!!!!' - it means 'I want to go there and see my biases perform live and buy their cds for a cheaper price!'.

I, personally am interested in music, kpop to be certain. I'm not even interested in every genre Korea has.

Some people here are of east asian descent or are east asian, so I assume they know what they're talking about, at least a bit. Myself, I'm just a white person that reads a fuck ton about east asia, in particular women and gender in Korea and Japan. I've done a bit of research and taken a few courses in Japanese and Korean history, but I don't speak the language nor am I born into that culture, so I'm aware of my limitations.

do i have to know? im here for music thats it

not for a history lesson

So why do users  judge the country so blindly and look stupid? Don't sit and call people haters and stuff by a few NB comments when you don't know why something is looked down up on hard in their country.

I know a lot about their manners, expectation, legends, courtesy, respect for elders, and almost all other aspects of their culture. I've grown up with Asian culture, and have been immersed in it since I was born basically, I also try to keep up on current happenings in Asia, as well as other parts of the world. I hope that didn't sound cocky, I didn't mean for it to be  :._.:

People +1 whatever fits their view, that's nothing new. Most intl kpop fans are not educated at all let alone educated on foreign cultures.

Are you talking about history, Korean icons, culture?

Not much but everybody is at fault, on one hand Kpop fans in general just stick to what they like, and do not try to look deeper and on the other hand you can also blame the Hallyu industry for not promoting the other parts of the Korean culture and just show to the world Kpop

I'm Chinese, so I'd like to think I know about the different cultures and some of the history more the average person lol. I've taken courses on East Asian culture and history too.

On the subject of what users know - or not just users, but kpop fans in general, really - I've also noticed the amount of people who refuse to actually understand some of the cultures or even accept the bad side of things as well. I'm not saying you have to learn, but this applies to the people who want to act like everywhere in East Asia is sunshine and rainbows and cool as fuck shit without realizing that it also has its downsides. I know this girl who would get very upset when anyone mentioned anything bad to her that was in the news from Korea because she wanted to believe it's the Godsend country of the universe where everything is perfect.
