Do you think Arashi releasing 3 verisons of their album is a move to beat out Sandaime J Soul Brothers to have the best selling album of the year?

As of right now, Sandaime J Soul Brothers have the best selling album of 2015, with 848,834 copies sold. Arashi recently announced that they will be releasing their new album in October. Normally they only do 2 versions of their releases, but this album has 3 versions. There is different content on each edition. So is this a move to top 3JSB? Earlier this year, there were some rumblings of a fanwar between Arashi and 3JSB fans because of 3JSB's rise. Will this continue that?

Yes lmao

I might buy this album too.

But did JSB's album include gimmicks too? But wow that number is impressive

There wasn't content splitting, there was tiering. Basically, if you wanted everything, you could get it on 1 edition as opposed to having to buy multiple editions like Arashi's album. If you want everything on the Arashi album, you have to buy 3 copies.

Ah ic. Well all the Limited a Editions are sold out -_- and if you wanted the bundle it's $104. I love them, but I refuse to spend $104 on an album. Nope. And it's alreay sold out on CDJapan!!!

JE are trying very hard this year lol. It really makes me wonder how they will do. Plus, there's only two singles songs on this album while the rest are all new. Lots of motivation for fans to buy the album. This is going to be an interesting year lol.

Probably. Especially when there are things like this:

Both songs are named "Sakura", though Sandaime's is styled as "S.A.K.U.R.A."

There's summer singles, too, though Arashi's is very Japanese, while Sandaime's is more Western (obviously, as it was filmed in LA)

Then also the lead up single for Arashi's album and Sandaime's main single for the album:

The songs are all different but some of the imagery is very similar. That's really suspicious if you ask me.

Are they for real with this?

This reminds me a bit of like a father / son battle.

Yes obviously that's what they are aiming for. The number one spot and maybe a chance to have another million seller.

JE needs to let them stay on top because up until now there's still no one to replace them.

Idk about Sakura but Arashi's Blast in Hawaii happened because its their 15th anniversary and they debuted in Hawaii. The mic concept of Ai wo Sakebe's cover...actually I thought it was too similar to their Wild at Heart PV back in 2012 where they also used mics. But who knows if Jstorm did really copy it from 3JSB

Forgot to add that their Sakura singles are almost exactly a year apart. (Off by one month, but still.)

Sandaime's "S.A.K.U.R.A." - March 26th, 2014

Arashi's "Sakura" - February 25th, 2015

I'm just speculating. Nothing against Arashi at all. I'm just saying it's a bit suspicious. Even then, I think this stuff is more to do with J-Storm than Arashi themselves. Getting beaten by Sandaime on the album chart wouldn't look good for them. They can't beat AKB in the singles chart, so they need to get #1 somewhere.

Don't worry I know  But I just have to say that cause there are some people who might state it as a fact already.

I agree that this is a move to beat Sandaime. They could have done it against AKB and Mr. Children in the previous years but they didn't. It would be too much of a risk to make another male group from a different company to the top the charts to them.

Definitely. It's rare to see acts under J Storm releasing more than two editions though it has happened before. To be honest, Arashi seems to be ready to lose their throne and they've been pretty vocal about this in recent years, especially Sho. Every year they keep saying it will be their last on top but it doesn't happen and considering JE has yet to find their successors I'm pretty sure they're gonna try to keep Arashi at the top for as long as they can.

I also see a pattern this year of Julie upping her game and trying to increase sales for all the groups under her wing. Everyone used to complain that the groups under J Storm were under promoted and that their
marketing tactics were boring but they've been doing the unexpected this year. Then again, that could be because JE now has actual competition from Japan and Korea as well.

I agree! When I looked at the cover I also thought it looked so much like Wild At Heart. And these also remind me of old singles and PVs, especially the Breathless and Happiness covers. Recycling at its finest lol.

There was a lottery and extra bonuses for buying sets of 3 (I think random different posters). More kpop kind of gimmicks than jpop.

I hope Arashi pulls in sales like "Calling"/"Breathless" did and clocks Planet Seven into another galaxy. :hurr:

Is 3JSB really going to take Arashi's throne, though?  I mean, Planet Seven sold really well, but it doesn't really seem like their subsequent singles have been hits on the level of Ryusei.  (Or have they?)  I'm quite curious how their next album will sell....
