How to not cry when you are trying to be serious?

Is it just me that when I start to say something serious to my bf or my parent, I involuntarily start to cry?

I hate it, even when I try to be mad I start to cry and they go like " awwww" and I think " nooooo that's not the reaction I wanted" so I cry more. it's so annoying

How not to?

Well, the first thing that comes to my mind is "just cry anyway." There's nothing wrong with it, it's not a real weakness the way it's sometimes portrayed. I have the same problem as you and I used to try to conceal it but now I realize I just can't *shrug*

But I can give you some tips that might help you stop your tears before they come/as they're starting: pinch your nose bridge, look downwards, blink rapidly, bite your inner cheek, bite your lip, force yourself to do a small laugh or smirk, look down at your fingers and play with them to semi-distract yourself, think of something completely unrelated and preferably amusing or at least more light-hearted in the back of your mind so part of your brain's distracted from crying. I know the last one can be hard when you're wanting to display your anger to someone since you probably don't wanna focus on other things, but it's still doable!

Hope that helps ^^

maybe you should put a "I'm serious" tag on your head before you speak ,

so they'll know you are serious .

or

"I'm mad" tag when you're mad  :imstupid:

same for me ,

people said I'm never ever can be a serious or sad or mad ..

so when I'm saying something serious they think that's a joke  :har:  :har:

this used to happen frequently when i would get serious. whenever adrenaline started pumping thanks to emotions i would start to cry but for some reason it stopped happening and the adrenaline rush stopped as well. I think maybe it was because I didn't like confrontation and was sensitive about it but now I don't mind it so much.

just my experiences so maybe you just grow out of it after time? i completely forgot about it and didn't really think about it much until just now, it's quite interesting.

Sometimes I do. My mother knows how to push my buttons and is usually the one to make me cry

But usually I don't. I don't know if I can actually give you advice on how not to cry because this seems to be part of your personality, or rather how your mind processes negativity.

I find screaming really loudly works for me. Like a scream of terror or pain. Well I used to have panic attacks and made holes in my walls and well it worked, but it's ill-advised DO NOT BREAK THINGS AND MAKE HOLES IN YOUR WALLS
