Ace Attorney 6 has been announced, with release in the West confirmed

This week Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney 6 was confirmed for the 3DS, along with the news that it'll be playable at the Tokyo Game Show. That news alone was exciting for fans of the series, though some extra snippets of information have since emerged.

 

For starters, this one is coming to the West, which is more than can be said right now for The Great Ace Attorney. The current entry in Japan, which features Sherlock Holmes no less, seems to be out of the running for localisation according to Capcom France, which is disappointing but will hopefully change.

 

On the flipside the official Twitter account for the series has clarified that Ace Attorney 6 is being planned for the West.

More Famitsu details, meanwhile, explain that the storyline takes place in a foreign land from Japan, with temples erected for the souls of the dead and a tour guide boy called Bokuto Tsuani featuring. A 'Water Mirror' system will be prominent in viewing clues, too.

 

 

An important theme will be courtroom revolution, with producer Eshiro Motohide quoted as saying the following:

 

 

It's tough to develop within the Japanese courtroom, since an exhilarating part of the game is how situations can change from from desperate to complete turnabouts. The theme is 'courtroom revolution.' Phoenix Wright changing the system of the court is a major theme."

 

It sounds promising, though we hope Capcom France was simply getting ahead of itself in ruling out The Great Ace Attorney for the West. When it comes to localisation and Capcom, it's hard to tell.

The new girl is not named in the article, but I don't think she's Maya. Though she could very well be related to the Feys! (The article mentions very little about her other than that she's strong-willed and plays a special role in the courtroom, so this is just a guess)

 

It says the name of Phoenix's tour guide in the new country is Bokuto Tsuani (which written out normally instead of as a name would be "僕ã¨ãƒ„アーã«"), meaning "on a tour with me". Glad they're sticking with the ridiculous name puns.

OMG It seems like Kurain got a major improvement in terms of infrastructures!

 

I think Maya will appear in this one. I can't wait for her older age design! They did well with Pearl's design.
