Article: Moon Geun Young and Yook Sungjae confirmed leads for new SBS drama

Source: Sports Chosun via Naver

1. [+1,334, -226] The male lead is way below the level of the female lead

2. [+1,048, -162] I understand Moon Geun Young being the lead but the male lead is not a supporting but a lead??? What's going on;;

3. [+913, -118] Moon Geun Young and Yook Sungjae... I don't understand if it's Moon Geun Young's level that's gone down or if it's Yook Sungjae's level that's gone up...

4. [+634, -137] I hate stupid fangirls and their double standards. A male idol gets a lead and he deserves it but a female idol gets a lead and she gets sponsor rumors.

5. [+458, -53] Looking forward to the drama for Moon Geun Young

6. [+171, -17] I really liked Yook Sungjae on 'Who Are You' but this doesn't seem right, him getting a lead...? And their ages don't even match up ã… ã…

7. [+172, -38] Since when did Moon Geun Young's level drop to be acting with an idol??? Yook Sungjae to Moon Geun Young... seems like they're just casting anyone these days..

8. [+164, -43] Moon Geun Young and Yook Sungjae?? The levels don't match at all. And he's way below her in terms of acting skill too... and their ages don't match..

9. [+150, -39] Really? Matching Yook Sungjae to Moon Geun Young? Isn't that going too far?

10. [+133, -35] Why is he already getting lead roles. He should be working his way up from supporting roles.

For once I agree with them... when l saw his casting news, thought it was going to be a supporting role: Well, turns out he´s the lead... I like Sungjae but this definitely doesn´t seem right...

Edit: Apparently, Sungjae is not THE lead, the drama has a main lead(MGY) and other leads including Kim Jae Wook and Sungjae. Sungjae will be playing a detective!

Seriously?

ArticleMoon Geun Young declines Chaebol's Daughter casting

Source: OSEN via Naver

1. [+101, -9] Ironic timing how she declines as soon as Park Hyung Shik confirms his role...

2. [+81, -15] Park Hyung Shik's the lead? Good decision on her part ã…‹ã…‹

3. [+71, -10] She probably saw that Hyung Shik confirmed his role and didn't feel that he was up to her level so she declined it

4. [+71, -16] It sounds like an obvious chaebol drama anyway, good on her for declining it

5. [+26, -3] I'm still upset that she declined 'Moon That Embraces...' because she didn't think Kim Soo Hyun was up to her level.. the drama hit daebak and now Kim Soo Hyun's a top star while Moon Geun Young's in a rut. This drama sounds like fail anyway, I'm glad she declined it.

6. [+24, -6] I'd decline it too if an idol was my co-star... This will be Moon Geun Young's first work in a while and he's obviously not up to her level

7. [+25, -13] No way someone like Park Seo Jun would be up to her standards

I think the only things that is weird for me is his age. He's a talented actor but he's still so young, he's only 20 in American age. If he were acting with someone closer to his age, even just 2 or three years older but moon geun young is almost ten years older. It's like when yoona was in Cinderella man with Kwon sang woo, that was such off casting age wise. Even though men and women date men significantly younger it's just unreal to me.

well i don't know if they will have romantic scene? because if yes, that will just weird for me.. the age gap is too long eventhough MGY has baby face but still.. it's okay for me if they do whatever scene besides romance tho (because age reason mainly, since i watched SJ's Kibum drama 'I Love Italy',)

but then again, could anyone tell me the synopsis of this drama? i'm curious tbh.

Moon Geun-young, Kim Jae-wook confirm SBS’s Village

SBS’s upcoming Village is on a casting spree, with a slew of additions to the cast being made in quick succession. Heading the list is Moon Geun-young (Goddess of Fire Jung-yi), who has confirmed taking the lead role in the mysterious drama about a seemingly peaceful, crime-free village that is rocked when an unknown corpse is discovered.

(Note: The drama now goes by The Village: Secret of Achiara, where Achiara is the name of the town, although it’s still reportedly just a working title.)

We did previously hear of Shin Eun-kyung (Oh My Ghostess) being cast to play an elegant art gallery director, and now the drama will also feature Kim Jae-wook (Age of Feeling), Jang Hee-jin (Scholar Who Walks the Night), Lee Yeol-eum (High School King of Savvy), and child actress Ahn Seo-hyun (Gold Rainbow, Dummy Mommy). Not too shabby.

Moon Geun-young’s lead character will be a language instructor who becomes the key figure in uncovering the secret of the corpse. We aren’t told how, but the description makes it sound as though she will actively be investigating the curious case of the long-buried body that nobody was searching for or knew about. I’d love for this show to be a better showcase of her abilities than her recent dramas (I loved her in Cinderella’s Sister, for instance, when she got to be dark and conflicted and dynamic), and am encouraged that it sounds like a meaty project.

I’m also excited to hear about Kim Jae-wook making his drama comeback, and am crossing my fingers that he’ll also get more acting this time around; he was dropped from Age of Feeling pretty early on, and while I liked his character in Who Are You, what I wouldn’t have done to allow him to speak a few lines in that show! He’ll play an art instructor with the looks of a refined artist and a free spirit that makes him popular among his female students. (I’d totally forgotten that he and Moon Geun-young worked together before, though maybe you won’t blame me when I remind you that it was in the muddled rom-com Mary Stayed Out All Night. I’ll hope for better results this time.)

Jang Hee-jin, Lee Yeol-eum, Ahn Seo-hyun

Jang Hee-jin will play an instructor at an art academy, whose character has a sexy, mysterious aura. She was the secret mistress to the town’s most powerful man, but because she’s an outsider, her sudden disappearance one day prompts no interest. Still, the village “experiences change through events connected to her.†That’s a really vague way to sound mysterious, and I wonder if she’ll be that corpse, or if the description is just meant to make us wonder.

Lee Yeol-eum plays a high schooler with vague dreams of being an idol singer, though her everyday life is spent without much thought, just having fun. Deep down, though, she harbors pain about growing up without a father and in difficult circumstances.

Child actress Ahn Seo-hyun will be playing a bit older than her actual age—she’s in fifth grade in real life, but her character is a middle schooler—and will take on a character who started to see strange things at the age of five, which earned her the reputation for having supernatural powers. Her ability waned afterward, and in the present day she’ll become Moon Geun-young’s sidekick in seeking out the truth.

Village plans to hold its script reading later this month and will begin filming in September. It’ll follow Yong-pal in the Wednesday-Thursday slot and will begin its 16-episode run in October.

Hope it means Sungjae only has crush on her or some unrequited love... Kim Jae Wook is too cool to be just as second lead again with Moon Geun Young, yeah again after Marry Me, Marry.
