when u tell them someone elses secret and tell them not to tell anyone.

 

if they tell someone dont trust that hoe. if they dont they coool.

 

or if they repeat part of your conveersation about a thrid person, to that person no matter how small the talk was,   no trust.,

 

or tell the, like a small lie about yourself and tell them to tell no one. if someone mentions it to u. no trust.

I don't know for university, but generally I'd say after I've known them for a little while and gotten a handle on their personality enough to know that they're trustworthy. I can usually tell if someone is trustworthy or not after spending some time with them and observing how they behave.

So, my advice is, start sharing small things and see what happens. If the person can keep it to themselves, them you know it.

 

But, please don't be naive, don't trust people that easily, be careful and time will tell you if you should trust that person or not.

 

As for uni, most of the people are really competitive, so, you will most probably find a little of everything. Some people will get to you to just get something in return and others will be sincere, you just need to be aware of it and see what are the ones you should open yourself and what are the ones you should be careful.

The closest one i can say is close friend. you can hang out with them but watch them while you are away. If they are doing or saying something shady ,well..better find new circle of friends.
