Does South Korea have their own version of a GRAMMY committee or an Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences committee?

Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences committee: made up of 6,000 motion picture professionals. Invitation only membership. Give out Oscars/Academy Awards once a year. The Academy Awards or The Oscars is an annual American awards ceremony honoring cinematic achievements in the film industry. The various category winners are awarded a copy of a statuette, officially the Academy Award of Merit, which is better known by its nickname Oscar.

The GRAMMY committee: A Grammy Award (originally called Gramophone Award), or Grammy, is an accolade by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) of the United States to recognize outstanding achievement in the music industry. The Recording Academy, also known as The National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (NARAS), is a U.S. organization of musicians, producers, recording engineers and other recording professionals dedicated to improving the quality of life and cultural condition for music and its makers. The Academy has twelve chapters in various locations in the United States. To help ensure the quality of the voting, members are directed to vote only in their areas of expertise.

im so tired of this age of political correctness

sam smith did not deserve that many grammys

ok that was off topic

What political correctness? Sam won because the Grammys love artists like him (he's the closest thing to the male Adele).

For music, I think Korean Music Awards is regarded as the most prestigious as it encompasses a wider range of genres like Rock, Jazz, Folk and it rare has idol nominees as well.

The main ones are too focused on kpop/idols so I don't think people will classify it as on the same level as the Grammys (although the Grammy's has been unfortunately getting more and more pop focused).

Daejong Film or Grand Bell Awards is Korean Oscar.

Golden Disk Awards is Grammy if I'm not mistaken.

Not GDA. Their winning criteria are different. Grammy is totally based on professional rating, no fan voting nor sales like GDA.

I think GDA is like combination of AMA and Billboard awards.

Grammy is korean music awards.

Still can't beleive infinite won 2 year in the same category, they're the only one with jay park

I had no idea they got another one for this year. Really surprising in a great way.

2012 and 2015. Way to go Infinite.

And although I love watching the MAMA awards, I don't think it's comparable to the Grammys. Some of the awards they give out to artists/groups are really questionable as to whether they deserve it or not.

Thanks for your explanation. I always thought that GDA is like Grammy and I was wondering why the quality of GDA has been going downhill.
