Explain to me why do companies think it's ok to send idols to perform at award shows?

Edit: Yeah I get that organizers invite them for ratings and companies get money but if I was an idol I would fake being sick or something instead of performing. My post is mostly aimed towards the shitty reactions the audience gives. Worded the title badly.

When I first got into kpop I remember one of my first vids of SNSD performing was when they performed at various awards show. And although at the time I did not understand the K-entertainment industry and didn't know what was happening I could sense the tense atmosphere and cringed so hard. To this day I can barely stand looking at the screencaps of idols performing at these shows.

Just look at the faces of the crowd  :donthinkso:

Feel free to post more cringeworthy performances at award shows.

I actually didn't really like crowds' faces when idols perform esp at film or drama awards. Their faces (actors, actresses) look like they hate idols who perform there. At least show some smiles or supporting actions when those idols work hards perform for them there. Next time, they should just invite ballad singers who didn't dance.

b/c the award show asks them to come during intermissions ?

It's a horrible experience for everyone. Why not just invite ballad/ost singers? The idols always get disrespected. I remember when Psy lashed out on social media after the SNSD performance.

"The awards show today must've been really godly and luxurious, hmm? I was too busy singing and wasn't able to watch it, but it seems like the general sentiment after reading here and there.... They should've invited a guy like me so I can trespass into the audience... ^^ You know, people sit down to watch good shows and stand up to watch bad shows."

SG Wannabe too:

"Was it that hard to clap?! Was it that hard to smile?! How could your bodies have stayed still when music was playing?! This is too much!!

Netz also felt the awk:

"Are they trying to say that they're a higher class than singers just because they're actors?" "The actors were definitely acting too cocky," and "It was so embarrasing for me to watch on SNSD's behalf. The actors must think they're so important." Other netizens retorted with, "Inviting idols to perform was the first mistake. SNSD should've stuck with songs everyone knows, it just seemed like they went there to promote their new song, not congratulate the show," "OST singers should've been invited instead," and "This was not a place for idol singers. They were out of place and out of their league."

No just no

Girl please, I'm not in the mood for you of all people. They were invited to perform and it was rude for the audience to act the way they did. Point. Blank. Period. I don't see you carrying around an Actor's photo in any of your badges, you have an idol as your DP.

I always assumed companies do that to gain more exposure for the award show or for the idols.

Idols will be exposed to drama fans that are normally not interested in Kpop or the award ceremony will have the attention from fans of popular kpop groups.

Well, we wouldn't even know about K-dramas without K-pop. Let's be honest, even if you prefer K-dramas, 9 times out of 10 you got to learn more about Korean culture through K-pop.

No.

A lot people were into Kdramas before Kpop.

Kdramas started the Kpop wave before Kpop did.

Let's not forget dramas like Winter Sonata and actors like Bae Yong Joon. Idk about other countries but for Asia, Kdramas has been more popular until the 2009 Kpop wave.

Can attest to this statement because I was doing research for my first thesis proposal. Winter Sonata was what started the Hallyu Wave, NOT kpop.

Not discrediting their popularity. It's obvious that people in the world have been watching K-Dramas for awhile.

But it never hit the global scene the way K-pop has. Including myself, I wouldn't have checked out K-dramas in general or Korean culture without first being intrigued by K-pop.

I don't even know those people, I'm sure they're talented but I don't know them. When I didn't even get into K-pop, I only knew of Rain.

Not saying: K-Pop >> K-Dramas

Am saying: K-pop--->Introduced me to K-Dramas, K-Food, K-Fashion, K-Culture, etc.

Oh how stupid you sound. I'm obviously not talking about that. I'm talking about the stupidity of the comment that was "we wouldn't even know about K-dramas without K-pop." And because I don't have an actor's photo in my sig and because I have an Idol as my dp means? I for one stan Kim Sae Ron and the fact that you're so quick to judge on something so small really says enough about you

I could make the same assumption about you btw, because you also don't have an actor's photo in any of your badges and because you also have an idol as your DP.

I'm stupid? Okay sweetheart, whatever you say. I mean, I already gave an informed opinion above^^ but you obviously missed that so you can take the half an hour your brain needed to write four sentences.  :) Good for, I don't know Kim Sae Ron, but he/she already deserves a better stan than you. I didn't judge anything, I gave my opinion. And obviously my opinion matters so much to you since this is the nth time you've came for me. Girl bye.

Nobody here is obsessed with you kid, that's the simple minded thing called delusion talking to you. I don't see how someone so uneducated on the topic would feel the need to feel so concerned about it especially when you consider the fact that it was the epitome of stupidity and when you consider the fact that it unfortunately had no real meaning or hold to the point or to the thread here. I doubt you even know what i'm saying know, but I don't blame you, its not the first time you were dropped on your head and i'm certain it won't be the last. toodles!  :)

Kpop influence is only for countries beyond Asia(normally not mainstream/everywhere like in Asia) and the younger generation.

Kdramas has contributed to the Korea Tourism and interest in Korea culture way before Kpop did.

For example, there is even a Winter Sonata tour.

In your previous post you mention 9 out of 10 times but here you are saying that you are saying only for you.

Then for myself, before I got into Kpop I was into Kdramas. Before Kpop wave in 2009, Kdrama dvds are everywhere but I don't hear Kpop songs everywhere I go.
