I understand when is for a religion, but when is not... I don't get it

Good question. I never understood why people would boast about how they planned to wait until their wedding night. Like everyone is gonna know what's going to go down after those "I do's" and church bells.

a lot of the reasons i hear is that they regard sex as something special and they want to share that with someone special or in this case their spouse

because the concept of virginity as something to be cherished is important for lots of people i guess

While I personally don't want to wait for marriage, I also want to wait for marriage with that Special Someone. But I have trust issues stemming back to being bullied a lot as a kid/teenager so....no Special Someone for me. And I am surprisingly okay with that.

For me personally I'm not relgious (though I was raised up by a buddhist father and educational background of catholic ) I always have the thoughts of marriage before sex becuase I rather lose it to someone whom is special to me and that I love and not a one off thing or even in a commited relationship i rather wait.

It's definitely not about religion ( I'm buddhist btw) I want to share it with the most special person to me and not with some random guy who you date for the sake of it. Call me stupid but I treasure love so much, I can't bear it if my partner breaks up with me after having sex. When you are married or engaged it ensures you a commited relationship and I'll not regret having sex with my partner.

I think if someone doesn't want to have sex that's totally cool, but I wish they wouldn't call it "staying pure". I also think the whole idea of virginity is gross, but to each their own.

Maybe because they think it's something very special that must be shared only with your loved one, but it's a risk, what if you married but then you are not compatible in bed? And then maybe you think this is your special one but then you divorce.

I'm against it.

I'm one of those who wait for marriage before having sex. And it's not because of religion nor the delusions of love.

 

Because I'm in the medical field, I don't feel comfortable having intercourse with just anyone (not even my boyfriend) without having a complete physical examination first because I'm scared of contacting venereal diseases and such. Once I'm engaged, it's a must to have those pre-marital exams before marriage just to make sure my partner is (squeaky) clean cause I'm pretty sure I am (since I'm a virgin). At this rate, I think I'll end up marrying a doctor who has the same ideals. God, I'm such a hypochondriac.

I'm Christian but more on the liberal side; I think, unless you or your partner is asexual, that sexual compatibility is a large factor in deciding who you marry. That's why I'm not remaining a virgin until my wedding night, because if you marry someone that you have zero sexual compatibility with, how's that going to work? And it's not like having sex with your spouse/soulmate wouldn't be as special if you'd had sex before.
