thoughts on EXO's variety skills

I've seen a lot of people call EXO members boring, but personally I've never watched them on anything so I can't make a judgment

Considering they're probably the fastest exploding success in kpop right now it seems weird that SM would let them be more reserved on camera if what people say is true. It makes me wonder if they're really shy or are just held back because companies like to have 'blank slate' idols for fans to project their individual tastes and desires upon. Or are people simply downgrading them for the sake of it and because they're more popular than their faves?

what are your thoughts on this exo fans and anyone with more knowledge than me?

P.S. I mean no harm, just curious

IDK I find them funny, they arent full out crazy and wild like some idols, but they have thier moments.

Personally I like thier more reserved nature, sometimes being over the top can be too much and get stale.

Maybe that's just like my personality, if you force yourself trying to be funny vs. it coming off naturally, it can annoy me easily.

I watched Exo's Showtime and I don't know if the company asked them to be more reserved, but it was quite boring to watch to be honest.  Also, I watched a couple of them on Hello Counselor and still... boring.  Maybe they just don't have the variety sense?  Oh well I guess it doesn't matter; they have a lot of fans supporting them and their careers are doing well.  They don't have to necessarily be great at variety right?  They have other charms.

honestly they're fine. perhaps not as "entertaining" as some other idol groups but given the amount of scrutiny they all have been under--I can definitely see how their actions are perceived as boring. when and if sm loosens the reigns I'm sure they might feel a little more comfortable. I understand all the members aren't 'beagles' but they aren't exactly wallpapers either. lol if only exo next door was a variety show instead..I can only imagine. hahaha

They're likable because they act just like any of your friends might. They're personable. That gets likened to boring in comparison with..well, pretty much any other group, haha

well if you as fans are entertained that's all that matters, I'd call their skills a success

They're nothing like Super Junior if that's what you mean

tbh no shade no offense but I feel like that's a good thing

Lmao, it's okay, I prefer them that way, they feel more real and relatable especially in Exo Showtime  :chu:

I find them really interesting... for exemple, when d.o. is speaking I want to hear more from him,etc...

some people found exo showtime boring, prob because of the fact they were eating all the time, and that's not exo fault but the show(I'm not going to blame them knowing it was the first season)

my fav ep was in the haunted house, that was hilarious!

with sistar/apink/exid we all get to see them around the town with their friends... it was fun!

They aren't as bad as people make them out to be. You won't be laughing out laugh during Showtime but I enjoyed it better than shows with other groups who try way to hard to be funny and it's nice to know a bit more about the members. I do think though most of the them are either introverts or way too self-concious so I can see where some of the complains come from.

I like them, they don't act like they are comedians which duty is make people laugh. They are themselves it's like talking to your an long-no-see friend, and I'm quite of a reserved person, so I prefer things like that.

But I really wish for Baekhyun or Chen to show even more their wittiness, they are the best when it comes to say witty things. :D

I watched exo showtime and I find it was really funny imo

I think it was a hit or miss; I found it funny but I know others didn't. people simply find different things funny. like I don't normally find traditional comedy movies humorous at all; they're just too over the top. exo might not be variety kings but they suit me just fine.

Of course fans are going to find them interesting, I mean the boys could blink and the fans would find them entertaining :derp:

That being said, they're not terrible. They were pretty bad on showtime since it was their first time and they didn't display any variety skills whatsoever (except for Baekhyun) but their were some episodes and moments were they were absolutely hilarious. They're different from the other SM groups as in their not good at gags or playing jokes on one another, having witty/sarcastic comments but rather I find their humor to be more ....dumb. They make stupid comments at their own expense and the expense of others simply because they don't know something (language barrier and all) and it can be pretty damn funny. Their pretty innocent I would say.

They're not bad. But variety certainly isn't their forte. That being said they're waaay better on their own- Suho on Fluttering India, Yixng in Go Fighting, Baekhyun (and sometimes Chen)...in general are more entertaining away from the group (or in Baek and sometimes Chen's case they're entertaining without the effect of the other members).
