Is Starship pushing Hyorin the wrong way?

The current buzz going around is about Hyorin joining UR2 and now having a collaboration with Zico looking like a fool - check her instagram for more embarrassing photos of her recently feeling her "urban" self.

Hyorin also recently talked about how Starship is fighting her personal expansion as an artist by limiting her creative direction.

 
This is obviously because they want to box her into their idea of what urban is. Is alienating her from the rest of her group's fandom, blurring their roles and making a full out image transition a good idea for her right now? Her fans are claiming this look fits her more intimately but nobody knows or necessarily buys that. It's just like Starship is trying to snipe CL's spot while she goes to America. 
 
Are you here for the new Hyorin and Starship's ignorant idea of her Beyonce image? They seem to be taking it too literally this time in her career.. but is this what it takes to bring her to the next level?

Truth is, the girls are nowhere like that. They are mostly like tomboy-ish girls who want to do hip hop but can't because starship is afraid.

 

Their true image is the friendly neighborhood girls who aren't afraid to get dirty and are your best girl friends.

 

Hyorin is basically extending that image to a hip hop culture. The group dressed like this for some of their stages for I swear and such.

Yeah, I don't agree with this direction at all really. They should be promoting her as the vocal goddess that she is, and even when the time comes to do the rapper collabs and the urban thing, do it right like Mariah Carey or J-Lo or someone like that. According to Koreaboo, this collab is for a special stage on SMTM 4. Funnily enough, KB is the only news outlet I've seen that has said it's for SMTM.

I think I recall Hyorin wanting to do RnB but her company stopped her cuz not everyone can do well with it in Korea... so she might be trying to walk down the hiphop path to get there? I know RnB and hip-hop aren't mutually inclusive but in Korea it's mostly the RnB that comes in association with either YG or k-hiphop artists that do well.. so maybe she's going for something like that? not sure..

It's a mess. She's a mess. This sudden image change following her announcement of being on Unpretty Rapstar is so transparent. 

 

I don't know why people say Starship doesn't allow her to do R&B. Her album was R&B. Erase was R&B and it flopped. Obviously Starship's main concern is profit. I get that she wants to publish self-composed songs, but is going on Unpretty Rapstar and getting braids and shit the way to do this?

Also i really dont think she is trying to be CL. CL doesnt have the vocal ability that Hyolyn has so that already sets them apart. Starship isn't trying to snipe anything of CL's. Many people who dont follow Starship artist have a hard time understanding that Starship can't afford to take risks especially with Sistar who is not only their biggest money maker but the biggest source of drawing attention to the company and their other acts. When they do something they do experiments to see how it is received before going all out with it.

 

Sistar has been wanting to change their style and do the type of music that they have wanted to do for a while (hip hop, R&B) however R&B isnt very accepted/loved in S.K. So starship starts small (HYolyn collab with Jooyoung) and in terms of doing hip hop music, Sistar has recently covered songs from Diva also Hyo spontaneously rapping when MadC forget is lyrics. Most likely those are all things planned and executed by Starship to gauge the public reaction. Her rapping video with MAdC was featured on SMTM4 official page when it happened and went viral.

 

Furthermore they will always start with the person with the greatest ability to succeed while simultaneously bringing attention to what they are doing i.e Hyolyn

That is so true. It's looks like Sistar want to change their style and what is starship doing is testing the waters, creating hype and Hyorin is the best for this.
