Janet Jackson Comeback Album Due In October?

Buzz. Janet Jackson‘s comeback campaign boasts it earnest.

The diva has the world waiting with bated breath for details on the set, the follow-up to 2008’s ‘Discipline.’

And with her ‘Unbreakable Tour’ set to kick off in 12 days and current single ‘No Sleeep’ soaring on Adult Contemporary radio, it was only a matter of time before more tea on the LP was poured.

Multiple sources confirm that during an interview with Donnie Simpson on radio last night, the project’s executive producer Terry Lewis revealed that the set is due for release “around October.â€

The hitmaker’s statements come as retailer F.Y.E’s in-store pre-ordering system was updated this week with a listing for a Janet album titled ‘Unbreakable’ – with a store date of October 2nd.

 

 

Of course, the 49-year-old has insisted that official details will come from her lips.

However, the correlation between the two occurrences above is difficult to ignore.

If indeed dropping on October 2nd, we envision a staggered release of sorts – with perhaps the digital coming before retail.

Why, you may wonder?

Well, upon the debut of ‘No Sleeep,’ a highly placed exec at BMG (who Jackson has teamed up with to release and market the project) confirmed with firm certainty that the album would arrive before the September 30th deadline of the 2016 Grammy’s.

Given how close the alleged October date is to the cut-off, it’s entirely logical for the LP to impact digitally a week prior to ensure eligibility and hit stores physically the following week. Adding fuel to the fire, Janet has no ‘Unbreakable’ shows after September 30th until October 9th. Album promo window, perhaps?

Time will tell.

For, the icon did have something to say about the reported release date on Twitter.

 

The album is led by the rising Adult Contemporary number ‘No Sleeep’ which joins a number of the performer’s chart-topping tracks on the set list for her forthcoming ‘Unbreakable Tour.’

There isn't a lot of buzz for this album or for her new single. It sort of fizzled out rather quickly and I understand why because the song isn't as arresting especially for new listeners. I do have to agree with someone else on another forum which is that the marketing should be a lot more, since No Sleep didn't chart as well, there should have been another song to follow it for there to be more build up for the album. I'll probably be wrong in the end and more than likely there will be another single to follow No Sleep before the album release but it's taking her forever. I should also point out that for Damita Jo but specifically 20 Y.O. and Disicipline, she tried to do the regular album marketing and it didn't go all as planned so maybe they do have something up there sleeve. 

 

I think it's official though, her new album will be called, "Conversations in a Cafe".....

I think the way the marketing is being done is matching the music in a way.  Janet knows that she's not the biggest thing going anymore so there is no need to act that way.
