But Nicole's solo endeavors kind of flopped. I don't know all the download numbers and crap, but her solo debut didn't make much of an impact, like, at all. and her hairstyle really doesn't suit her. she looks better with bangs tbh. I also heard her Japanese debut flopped a bit. Though I don't personally know much about it. Now, it's not like Kara is at their prime anymore either, but as a respected group in the industry they at least have a decent income and a loyal following. I honestly don't get why Nicole left. I get that she was having problems with the agency or something, but if she wanted to continue as an idol, she should have stuck it out a bit longer, imo. (I don't know the legitimacy of this, I just remember reading something along these lines when I used to read NB so don't axe murder me pls) But yeah, Nicole was popular for being a member of KARA, unlike Goo Hara and Jiyoung who had their own form of popularity. Nicole should've stayed, she would be making more money than she is now (KARA still has a semi-successful career in Japan and the members are known for making a ton of money, i.e. Seungyeon and Hara both buying buildings worth over a million dollars). I think she would've been better off staying in KARA. Nowadays, I don't even hear about Nicole :/ BUT, if she's happier now than when she was in KARA for that last year or two, then I guess it was worth it in a way. She is actually rich af with all the concerts, CF and discs that KARA sold while she was a member, not counting her mom's business, the reason she decided to leave is about solo activities, DSP CEO (the wife of the former CEO now in coma) doesn't give anything to her Btw Something Special wasn't a flop (Japan), but Mama (Korea) probably, we actually know, on Korea, KARA members as individual are not popular enough than the entire group, tha'ts probably bad for a few people, thinking every member needs to be recognized and have a long fanbase (that's happens on only on Japan, where she wasn't a flop), but I don't think so, that shows how KARA really fits on the concept of a group, every member has her own charm and no one is better than no one But DSP is making moves to get rid off about that concept, giving camera and focus to the members on individual, I don't think is a bad move either, just saying to anyone who want to talk cr*p because KARA members are not much famous as individual Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

NO! And her solo debut didn't do well digitally because it wasn't a public friendly song. She is still new with solo activities. Also, things changed a lot after the old CEO of DSP died and his wife took over. In addition, some have said that Nicole's mom is very assertive and was a driving force during negotiations or in raising dissatisfactions. I just hope she is happy and invest her money well like some of her former bandmates have. Edit: I actually remember when this happened. The group was in the middle of contract renegotiations. Not many expected this...it was a big shock to many bc they were still making money in Japan. They were in the middle of their Japanese Tour - I remember.. ...and Damaged Lady was a bop. I was an Allkpop regular at the time. It seemed as though negotiations sort of fell apart, because it was a very abrupt announcement at the time. The DSP CEO was sort of like "screw it". Both the parents and the CEO were sort of playing hard ball. So sometimes when you play hard ball you got to walk. It seemed as though Nicole and Jiyoung were the most dissatisfied. They absolutely suck at promotion and I'm speaking as a SPICA fan. On the plus side they don't micromanage their artist's lives so she probably has a lot more freedom than she did at DSP.
