How come SNSD can call Tiffany "pig" but groups can't call their member(s) "dark"?

Don't reply if you haven't read my whole post please. I don't care about what you have to say if you haven't even read what I have to say.

I made a thread a while ago titled "Do you think SNSD calling Tiffany 'pink pig' is rude?" and the responses were unexpected to say the least.

A brief background on the nickname:

SNSD’s Tiffany Says She Weighs the Most in SNSD

Tiffany said, “Actually I weigh the most, since I weigh 48 kilograms (~105 pounds).â€

“So Sunny has been calling me ‘hey pig,’ said Tiffany, who confessed her nick name is ‘pink pig,’ because her favorite color is pink.

http://mwave.interest.me/enewsworld/en/article/60871/snsd-tiffany-reveals-her-weight

In the thread I made, the majority of responses were like this:

If Tiffany isnt angry and happy with that, why should we?
No, its not rude

i'm pretty sure it's a joke

No. It's just a joke.

I don't think any member of SNSD is calling her that to hurt her feelings. Honestly, if she wanted them to stop I'm sure she would tell them and they would. Also, I think (don't quote me on this I'm just guessing) that being called a pig in Korea isn't as bad as it is in other places.

So how is this any different from a group making jokes about a member's dark skin or even just pointing it out? This hypothetical group doesn't imply dark skin is a bad thing, this hypothetical group also has praised their member's dark skin as sexy and unique, this hypothetical member also says he/she doesn't mind the jokes they make and plays along. This hypothetical group's situation is pretty similar to Tiffany's situation. Even SNSD themselves have made comments about a member's skin color and they'll be shamed for that but not for this.

Isn't this a bit hypocritical? If you have a group in your mind that doesn't apply to this description, I am not referring to them.

Thanks for reading my whole post.

I understand you but it depends really.

Even if hypothetically that member said he doesn't mind it, people will get angry because dark skin has not really good connotation in sk. So there is an obvious difference between "wow your skin is really dark...I like it, it makes u look good etc" and "....your...skin. ..is dark" with a side eye.

Tiffany obviously doesn't mind it since the members don't have bad intentions

She clearly cares!

Why you act like SNSD fan tbh? She's not hurt by that, so who cares? If she's ok with that why we need to discuss if is it bad or good? Idiotic.

Not the point.

The thing is Tiffany is actually one of the smallest members its Yuri and Seohyun who weigh most, Tiffany is a liar thats why them calling her pig isnt a big deal, here here's proof she "can't" gain weight.

Dissing someones skin tone is wrong because your dissing every dark skinned person in the world dissing someones weight isn't that bad because you're weight relates to health and it can be changed by dieting but skin tone can't.

It's just a joke that tease her about, its nothing serious at all. Stop always trying to make a big deal out of something that doesn't exist

As for skin colour they have even teased Yuri about her darker skin a couple times but its always been in a friendly manner especially considering Yuri refers to herself as thr "black pearl" ever since debut.

"dissing someone's weight isn't bad" right......

If she doesn't take it serious, then why should we ?

But obviously Kai doesn't like when his members call him dark, while Tiffany doesn't mind it , so??

I'm not referring to Kai, you should have read my post more carefully.

Honestly I see both as wrong and the only reason the responses are "Well, Tiffany doesn't seem offended so..." b/c sones here will do anything to make it look like SNSD are angels and do nothing wrong lol

The only thing bad about pointing out someone's dark skin is how you say it. The way dark skin is perceived so ~~~sexy and mysterious and bad~~~~ is so dumb whereas white skin is ~~~pure, clean and innocent~~~ just needs to be shut down.

Edit: Also the explanation "they obviously don't seem offended so why should we~!!" is so ??????? like internalized racism is a thing??? and how do we know if she's really offended or just hiding it?? idk if i'm making sense.

Interesting...came in here expecting to disagree with you, but after reading your view point, I can see why it would appear to be a double standard.

being fat doesn't have a good connotation either though, and that's essentially what is being said when you call someone a pig.

Exactly. But even if we know it's in a polite manner SNSD get shamed for calling Yuri "black pearl" but not for the pig/weight comments. OP is just pointing out the hypocrisy.

Well I do get that but I still don't really agree
