Forgive me if I'm a real noob but I'm having that blue screen of death

It started yesterday. I was running a web browser, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Windows Media Player. Then it started to bug and the blue screen thingy appeared. After my PC restarted, I switched to the safe mode (because it's supposed to be safe, then run all the apps above and nothing happened. So I went back to the normal mode and everything went normal

But today, it happened again. So I tried googling a solution and the majority of the result led me to do the CHKDSK verification. I did it and it took me 4 hours. Not sure if there was any problem detected because at the end, it went really fast. Then when my PC restarted, I opened my web browser again and not even 10 min after, the blue screen appeared again and made my pc shutting down and restart again

While it was restarting, a new CHKDSK countdown appeared and Iet it do its job. But this time it took less time (approximatively 30minutes) and has only 3 steps (the first had 5 steps). When it was over, I thought the problem would be solved. But then I got the freaking blue screen again

I really have to fix it because I've got work to do (related to my study) on my PC. Anyone has a solution? (I'm currently running in safe mode btw)

First of what version of windows are you running?

Second can you tell us what error is displayed when you get a Bsod?

From the sounds of it your hard drive might be failing but some more information is needed before I can confirm that.

Informations supplémentaires sur le problème :

  BCCode:    7a

  BCP1:    FFFFF6FC00020860

I used to get the dreaded BSOD if my tower overheated (I was a dumb child and had it in a place where there was no air circulation and then ran PC games).

Then it was my harddrive that failed. The PC repair guy was fantastic and salvaged everything and I ended up with a bigger harddrive in the same tower.

And then it was my motherboard. :._.: And now I have a new PC.

Moral of the story: BSOD is a warning of bad things to come. Back up your harddrive if you can, get it looked at professionally if you can afford it, and prepare to probably buy a new computer.

I'm giving up already :._.: I tried too many things and nothing seems to work

I'm sorry.  :horror:  I know your pain.

If the harddrive is the problem and you've got a good shop in your area, they should be able to just install a new harddrive in your current tower. The question will be whether they can salvage the data from the old harddrive so you don't have to start completely over.

If started in safe mode, your computer runs only the very basic data and drivers it needs to boot up. If you don't have the problem in safe mode, it seems like this is either a corrupted data error or a corrupted driver.

First of all, do step 2 of this (from the version number you said I'm guessing you're using Win7): http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/96938-check-disk-chkdsk-read-event-viewer-log.html

and let me know the results of your chkdsk

Whenever you get a BSOD, a file will be saved. You can find them in C:\Windows\minidump

Download the program BlueScreenView and put the minidump file you find on your computer into this program and let me know the results.

I'm not a high expert but maybe I can try to help you anyway

thanks for replying. You're maybe my savior. I'll send the result to you when I got it. But would you mind to wait a little? I need to do it on my free time because the CHKDSK takes too much time

If this is only occurring when you are running multiple applications I would be considering a systems resources issue as the primary culprit first rather than a hardware issue. The simplest way to take care of this is to pull out a USB Flash drive and transfer the files you want to save to it and then get your windows disc out and do a fresh install of the OS while saving nothing. While you will have to update and reinstall programs the system should run much smoother.

I might look at memory first but if you are worried about your hard drive health then I would go download a copy of Sea Tools (way faster) and run it rather than chk disk.

If you want to check on your memory then try running Memtest86.

Both programs are pretty straight forward to understand and install.
