Netizens dig up past comments by Kim Hyun Joong in light of alleged assault charges

 

Comments made in an interview have resurfaced in light of the allegations Kim Hyun Joong faces for the repeated assault of his alleged girlfriend.

In December 2013, Kim Hyun Joong took part in an interview with KBS2TV’s “Entertainment Weekly†for his drama then, “Inspiring Youthâ€. In the interview he says, “Instead of hitting people, it was easier to get hit by others.â€

“There was a scene where I had to flick another actor’s Adam apple," he continued. "I just couldn’t do it right because I was thinking of how much pain the other actor would be in. I just felt so sorry and so I hesitated a lot. As a result, I got a lot of bad takes and NGs.â€

He added, “After getting advice from my seniors, they told me to just do it once properly. So I closed my eyes and flicked the actor’s Adam’s apple, but I was really sorry after that.â€

In addition, in an update on the present situation, the Songpa Police Department released a statement, asserting, “We are currently investigating the case. It is not yet concluded if the defendent is guilty." They also added that they would be summoning Kim Hyun Joong in for investigating purposes.

On the other hand, Kim Hyun Joong’s agency, KeyEast stated, “We also found out through the articles. We will be confirming our stand after understanding the full situation.â€

Reps confirmed that the two have known each other since 2012 but it was only in recent months that they began dating. They got into a severe verbal argument that turned into a physical fight once emotions got out of control. Reps denied that he habitually assaulted her.

 

The physical fight only happened once. Her rib cage did not break during that fight but in an earlier incident when they were just fooling around. The next day, she went out with her friends and did not realize she had been hurt.

I think it's safe to say KHJ's career may well be over...

 

Hmmm... with the general public definately but lots of fans are standing by his side and defending him. Some are saying they will wait until after his trial but the problem is that the courts in Korea do not have a brilliant track record when it comes to sentencing celebs. So even if he is trully guilty he will probably just walk away with a fine or his lawyers can maybe settle out of court and then he will enlist. Someone else also stated in another thread that this is considered a civil case in Korea... not a criminal.

 

I think his acting career might be over because of public opinion but I can see him still surviving after enlistment because he will still have fans that will buy his music.

He's going to need it because I won't be the loyal/die-hard fans who will support him through anything.  If he has abused his ex, he will at least lose me as his fan.  I wash my hands off him.  What's so tragic is that this affair will destroy whatever SS501 reunion salvaged in the past til now; we can kiss our hopes of seeing them as five ever again.   I think enlisting now will be to his advantage, hopefully the public will forget this piece of news and, perhaps, he'll earn some fans back.

The way things look right now, he can count me out as a fan. I don't see how things can be turned around because his PR has admitted that they got in a physical altercation... their excuse was that it was not habitual, her broken rib was a seperate instance due to "playing" and they were only in a relationship for a couple of months. Irrespective of the fact that Dispatch brought about evidence that contradicts parts of his statement and they presented medical evidence that looks damaging...

 

Bottom line is:

1)he admitted to an altercation and he was unharmed (had a fanmeet the following day and nothing was wrong with him)

2)she ended up in hospital

 

We don't know the cause of the fight is but even if she she provoked him, it does not warrant for her to end up in hospital with such a recovery time... So even if this was a once off thing, it does not sit well with me because he clearly has anger issues which he needs to deal with it. 

 

I would really like this nightmare to be swept away but I am just trying to deal with it as best as I can... and that is to face the reality that I don't actually know him as a person and therefore it is possible that he could have done what he is accussed of. I really want to be proven wrong with evidence brought forth that he is innocent but I am pessimistic about that  

 

And about this destroying SS501's reunion from happening... he actually kind of debunked that a while back at one of his concerts:

Sorry if it feels like I am dumping my feels on you... it's just that this is the only space where I feel like we can sanely discuss our fears and doubts. In all the threads on OH people are calling him names and on twitter I only see fans repremanding others and telling fans they are fake if they don't "believe" or support him...

No, I'm glad we're having honest discussions here.  I don't want any of us to be under the illusion that everything will pick itself up and this whole incident can be swept under the rug.  It's not going to happen, let's be real here.  Despite his claiming that SS501 might never happen again, at least I could hang on to their chance of changing their minds at the time.  Now, KHJ has literally extinguished my flicker of hope or ever having a reunion concert.

 

The only thing which can turn everything around is collected evidence proving his innocence and it's all just the grudge of a nasty ex,  Frankly, since he's a star, he should be more conscious of his actions to everyone... actions calls for consequences, and obviously they are biting him in the butt.  I don't feel sorry for him, he should know better,  

 

As for his loyal fans, I hope they can stay loyal, and not just blabber on the internet proclaiming their otherwise empty words.  These "die-hard" fans may be delulu or believe him to the point they don't care what he does is right or wrong.  Thank goodness I'm not one of them crazy loots

I am happy we can look at this objectively. I will never understand this blind defending and hushing fans... we are not his PR team, so everyone has a right to form an opinion and make decisions based on that.

 

With regards to the other SS501 members all I really care about at this moment is that none of them make comments about this matter because I don't want their names dragged by the public. This a sensitive topic and words can easily be twisted.

The members have been in the industry long enough to know how it plays out; any of them would be stupid if they comment on such a sensitive topic.  I only hope this piece of news won't scratch the others' reputation, KHJ has already dirtied SS501's and his image.  It's a shame that he has ruined everything he built over the many years as the leader of their group and as a soloist afterwards; I truly believe every singer who made his/her début as a group but disbanded envied KHJ's success on his own.  If anything, it's his entire fault for this crap.  I'm not sorry for him at all, rather I'll be furious if any of the members get hurt or sucked into this sh*t storm.

 

I'm going to leave the cray-cray fans be.  As they say: "haters are gonna hate", well "delulu are gonna be delulu".

It is really sad... Hyunjoong really worked hard to get his name out their for himself but also to try and get SS501 to become a household name. His popularity as an individual was really something special. I just hope that there will be a fair trial and if he is guilty of everything that he has been accussed of he needs to pay for his actions. You know... I wouldn't mind the remaining members to do something together. They always did seem more enthusiastic about a reunion anyway.

 

I think delulu fans are just plain in denial... like they will do anything to twist facts to suit their argument. I realise how hard it is to objectively look at the situation. I was so upset for days because I feel like caring about the members of SS501, TVXQ and JYJ has become so second nature... so to let go of Hyunjoong was really hard and now I am at the point where I just want answers about the situation.

 

And OMG at the ex-gf only wanting him to acknowledge what he has done and apologise I want a better translation of his first response though... because him saying "I apologise for the situation" makes it sound like he is only sorry that he was caught

I believe I can be frank with you, Zee.  From variety shows to his actions on stage, Kim Hyun Joong seems to be concerned about himself.  Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to make him look even worse saying he's only ever cared about himself, but as you said, the members were more enthusiastic in variety shows.  Also, they somewhat hoped for a reunion concert as SS501 but their leader, who was doing very well on his own- better than the others, made clear through a statement that it was doubtful of this reunion.  Honestly speaking, he looked to me like he didn't want to be part of SS501 anymore, as if the band was absolved and any hopes of the last concert were ceased to exist when their contract with DSP ended.

 

I, too, feel more protective when it comes to SS501 and TVXQ, especially TVXQ given the two boys are like the only survivors of the group.  It really irritates me so that JYJ fans are rude to BigEast when both groups used to sing as one.  The rookie groups nowadays are awful; I'm only staying on Kpop because of TVXQ and to drool over hot-looking boys.  Talent is rare, real friendships are rare because agencies overuse members' interactions; let's say I'm not as into Kpop as I was 7 or so years ago.

 

Hahahah that is exactly why KHJ is sorry: he was caught by his ex.  I don't think he feels any regret for this crime.

I kinda agree with you. I think many of us were a bit "in denial" about a SS501 reunion and even defended Hyunjoong over the years  when it was very much clear that he was content with the way things are and there was continuous evidence that the rest of the members were still friends but he was noticably absent. Maybe he got sucked into how big he got after BOF...?

 

It is hard to find really talented rookies but then again we have been spoiled when it has comes to TVXQ Kpop is not the same anymore and a lot of us are moving on. Most of my cassie friends don't follow kpop anymore and only order CDs when something is released.

 

With Hyunjoong's actions so far... it seems like he is acting as if he is the victim in this situation.

I really believe that the other members actually wanted the reunion to happen, to relive the so-called "happy memories" when SS501 were part of the Royalty in Korean music industry.  I also think KHJ no longer needed SS501 as a fallback since he was doing very well on his own, hence his conscious denial of SS501 ever happening again.  To be honest, I kinda hated him for saying that; I felt like he was ditching the others for his bright future, I would think their relationships (I don't know if I may call them friendships anymore) were ranked quite high given the tears and sweat they shed as a group.  Urghh the more I pour my feelings about him in my posts, the satisfaction of seeing him face justice makes me energised and relieved.  You're right though: BOF probably boosted his ego, thank goodness karma is keeping him in line.

 

When DSP ended their contract, didn't you notice it was very convenient for him to have signed a contract with Key East?  His rocketing popularity in BOF aside, it looked as if he had everything planned out with Key East, he knew he would be taken under their wing, so of course he wasn't worried.  The piece of news claiming he tried to get the entire SS501 under Key East too: I was foolish back then to be so gullible and believed it, now in hindsight it's probably empty words.

I didn't even follow his latest comeback because I was so upset with him... I felt like over the years he strung us along with words saying he wants a reunion but then his actions contradict that. It was almost like he said things just to keep Triple S around. I think we were willing to believe anything because the thought of an era ending was just too hard to accept

He should be in jail for what he's done, now KHJ will most likely to follow in his footsteps   7 million won is a pittance to celebs, if no jail sentences then he should pay up to 100, 000 USD every year to the poor woman for the rest of his life

Hey, everyone. I know its been a minute since I've been on and then the "incident" happened. I'm so happy to hear that Jung min is about to do more acting. I do miss him. I hope Kyu Jong is releasing another album cause I loved the last one.

Kyujong should be coming out with something pretty soon. On the 27 September he had a fanmeet and apparently he has a new song and its a ballad. I don't know if he actually performed it there or if he only spoke about it... but his hair is now platinum blonde so a comeback should be soon.

A representative from SOS Please Help Me has revealed that, “Kim Kyujong is to appear inSOS Please Help Me once it starts airing next monthâ€, stirring excitement amongst fans who have been waiting for the return of the singer-actor for two years.
