Singer and actor Kim Hyun Joong's third Japanese single album sold over 100,000 on the day of its release!

 

Not only did 'Tonight' sell 101,818 copies, Kim Hyun Joong sold the most records by a foreign artist in Japan the same day. The album landed him at #2 on Oricon's daily single charts as well.

 

Fans can catch Kim Hyun Joong weekly on SBS' 'Barefoot Friends' along withSuper Junior's Eunhyuk, After School's UEE, Kang Ho Dong, Yoon Jong Shin, Kim Bum Soo, Yoon Si Yoon, and more.

Kim Hyun Joong becomes first solo Korean artist to sell over 100,000 copies for first 3 Japanese singles

 

 

Kim Hyun Joong has set another record for himself.

 

On June 11, Japan's music chart company Oricon stated, "All 3 of Kim Hyun Joong's Japanese singles have consecutively sold over 100,000 copies in the first week of release. It's the first time this has occurred for any Korean solo singer active in Korea."

 

His newest single 'Tonight" sold 116,000 copies in the first week, placing him at #2 for both the Oricon daily and weekly charts only behind Japan's SMAP. His previous singles "KISS KISS / Lucky Guy" and "HEAT" have also achieved over 100,000 sales in the first week of release.

 

Kim Hyun Joong's label in Japan, Universal Music Japan said, "Looking at his large fanbase, the sales of his first 3 Japanese singles in addition to his first Japanese album 'Unlimited', the effect Kim Hyun Joong has on the Japanese music market is very big."

Of course, fans didn't miss the chance to see Kim Hyun Joong's cutie player, and he followed through after the post got over 6006 comments. It seems it was a bit difficult for the star to get through, however. He added that he wasn't able to get through the song sober, so he ended up getting a little drunk.

Kim Hyun Joong had an embarrassing moment on the latest episode of 'Barefoot Friends' when he suffered a wardrobe malfunction during a swimming race!

 

In the latest episode, the cast members continued their study of diving. While in a swimming race with several child diving athletes, Kim Hyun Joong quickly became flustered when his pants suddenly decided to abandon his body!

Fortunately (or is that unfortunately?) he was wearing boxers underneath his pants, thereby avoiding a major incident.

Kim Hyun Joong to possibly return to the small screen through 'Inspiring Generation'

 

 

Singer and actor Kim Hyun Joong may be returning to the small screen after all for it's been reported that he's currently reviewing an offer to star in upcoming drama, 'Inspiring Generation'.

 

The singer-turned-actor was already supposed to have made a drama comeback through 'City Conquest', but many of you know, the production fell through and the drama never ended up being picked up for airing. So this news should definitely come as of interest for those anticipating his return as an actor!

 

It was said actor Lee Jun Ki was also reviewing an offer for the drama, so it's not clear if he opted out and Kim Hyun Joong was offered the role instead, or if the two are just cast for different characters.

 

'Inspiring Generation' is an action-packed drama which takes places in Shanghai, China during the 1930s and the stories that unfold for the youth of that time.

 

His agency has stressed that nothing has been confirmed as of yet and they're still in the reviewing stage, so keep your fingers crossed!

Kim Hyun Joong has been in the business for a while and revealed his sense of responsibility as a celebrity in the public eye.

 

In an interview with @star1, Kim Hyun Joong talked about how he deals with rumors and shared, "I don't think I had any incidents that I needed to explain... Even if there is a rumor, I don't worry about it much. I know my fans believe in me."

 

"But as much as I have a career in the public eye and receive a lot of love and support, I always try to be careful and act with responsibility."

 

Kim Hyun Joong also revealed the behind-the-scenes story about his drunken cutie player and shared, "I said that I did it after I drank alcohol. Last week, Kim Hyun Joong pre-released "Unbreakable" featuring Jay Park as a prelude to the release of his third mini-album, 'Round 3' which has finally been released online today.

 

Kim Hyun Joong recruited the best of the best for his long awaited return. Renowned choreographer Lyle Beniga whipped up his dancing magic for "Unbreakable" and Keone Madrid choreographed title track, "Your Story". Jo Soo Hyun, the director behind the music videos for Psy, participated in the music video for "Your Story", while director Hong Won Ki participated in the music video for "Unbreakable".

 

As mentioned previously, Dok2 featured in the R&B-style title track, "Your Story", while Jay Park added his attractive voice color to the track, "Unbreakable".  Other songs from the album include: mid-tempo acoustic song, "As It Used to Be", urban pop song "Gentleman", a confessional R&B track, "I'm Yours", and the upbeat "Let's Party".

Kim Hyun Joong doesn't think he's an idol?

 

 

Kim Hyun Joong, who recently made a Korean comeback after 2 years, opened up about his growth as an artist in an interview with Focus Newspaper.

 

Kim Hyun Joong shared, "I am 28 years old now, so I probably shouldn't be called an idol anymore. I want to show my maturity whether it's through my outgoing personality or music... I learned how to relax on stage. This album also contains different genres of music."

 

"My hoobaes don't have to follow in my footsteps. I want to do things that I want to try right now. I took on powerful choreography for 'Unbreakable', and I wondered if I could still perform this dance 3 years later."

 

 

Concerning his transformation from a 'pretty boy' to a more charismatic image, the singer recalled, "During my 'Boys Over Flowers' days, I wanted to show a manly image. But I leaned more towards a young, pretty boy image. But now I really became a 'man'."

 

When asked about his secret to longevity as an artist, Kim Hyun Joong answered, "I really don't know. I just kept doing the things I wanted to do, and I came to this day somehow... Whenever I perform at a concert, I always try to get closer with the audience and I normally try to treat my fans well. I am well aware that I was able to come this far because of my fans. I want to give my fans a 'free fan meeting' when I hit my 10th anniversary."
