It has to do with the fact that some east asians tend toward overly broad faces (whites and some other types tend toward excessively narrow). Yeah this is definitely a problem more for like white people, some have heads that are too small in proportion to their bodies. Never saw that problem among East Asians though when I lived there, if someone had strange proportions it was usually because the head was too big. And not only Korean like small face thailand has affected with the "small face" disease. in these 2-3 years i started to see comments "wow, his/her face was small." in thai. it has long been the negative phrase "watermelon head" but never heard that small head/face was attractive.
